Huh.

I thought it was just an ESP thing but I guess reporting training camp practice stats is a thing now?

Kelly moving to 3rd string was a bit eye opening as far as backups go. I figured he might be a plug and play swing tackle but looks like they really want their young guys to step up.

Or they are looking just to get them more reps.

Harper’s power coming back is awesome.

My old guy buddy 77 yrs and I watching that bomb at a bar in Mexico.  That was sick!  Gave each other high fives for that one

250 days after TJ. when Ohtani really started too. Seems like that’s around when harper has begun too. Huge for the Phillies if he can just start mashing homers

Thanks Judge Judy

You're welcome, though I'd rather be judge Harry stone from night court!

Maybe if we give the entire Flyers team a standing ovation for a whole game they can turn it around.

Won’t work with the sixers. Had that one fan try to teach Ben Simmons how to bend his knees when he shoots FTs. Backfired lol

And Turner legged out another infield single.

Schwarber is bashing now.  Turner is hitting doubles and legging out hits.  Harper's power is back.   Castellanos is on an 8 game hitting streak.  Stott and Bohm remain hot... Just need Marsh back, and keep him going, get Realmuto rolling and let Rojas continue to play!

We'll see what happens when the pads go on.

Hightower always looked good in shorts then when the pads came on he disappeared because he's contact adverse.

That right there is why we signed Turner.   Infield single.  Stolen base.  Score on a 2 out single.

Single, stolen base, scores on a single.

I like this ovation powered version of Turner.

Underrated is turner’s ability to steal bases. Haven’t seen it enough cause of the season he’s having. But just him getting on he can almost automatically steal second base and get you into scoring position. The have someone like stott bring him home

Tyler Steen is just good. The next Big V.

I hope not, Big V was mediocre at best.

Hopefully Steen can be more than Big V.

Which is what we just saw.  Was a thing of beauty.   And frankly, going on the first pitch was the right call with 2 outs.  Get in scoring position for Stott.  And let him do his thing.

Castro... :nonono: Would have been nice to get an actual bat at the trade deadline.

BTW... I wouldn't call Turner's base stealing prowess as 'underrated', I'd list it as underrepresented given his lack of being on base this year.  That seems to be changing now... just in time.

Yeah i was underwhelmed by Castro. Frankly could’ve just used kingery who was raking in the minors for a while and hoped he hit well in a call up. Granted it didn’t cost anything major to get Castro.

i know people are excited Rhys is running and could be back for the postseason. Issue is they likely won’t clear him to play the field that soon after. so harper and schwarber would have to play the field every game. Harper playing isn’t the issue it’s really schwarber. He’s basically hoskins defensively but in the OF. I also worry that he hadn’t played in a game since ST and really an actual game that matter since game 6 of the World Series. I’d do it cause it’s Rhys and he has that ability to get red hot but i think expectations would have to be not expect his norm.

That’s actually pretty awesome their fans did that

Wrong.

It has been well known by people paying attention that Dean did not have combine or pro day numbers.

It has been discussed here before.

The 4.74 number was discussed last year,  and it was clearly pointed out that the number was a high school number.

Also,  if there is no pro day or combine number,  the right answer is either "we don't know" or "wow that is amazing,  because the numbers are OBVIOUSLY very old,  from a time before college.

They have high school, or pre  numbers, and they have post college

Both sides of your argument failed to notice that you were arguing really old numbers.

The one guy tried to pretend that his data that he plugged into the RAS calculator equaled an actual RAS page.

No one jumped on that.

Until the hero did.

So you're going to continue on your crusade here to call people out and ignore everything I posted in explanation to you?

I suggest you just ignore the topic and move on as it seems the discussion flew over your head

Maybe stick to comparing guys RAS scores to argue they could play other positions than the ones they do...

Rhys would have to hit better than Jake Cave, enough to make up for Schwarber's defense in LF.  And maybe only platoon him to face lefties, and let Cave face the righties.  Might be worth it just to have his bat on the bench as a threat for pinch hitting situations against lefties.   In the playoffs you could not activate Covey and free up an extra position player spot on the roster.

Castro seemed to be to be redundant with Sosa.  I guess he's a minor upgrade over Josh Harrison.

230 is not tiny.

He's 230 with 15 lb weights in each of his shoes.

I actually wonder when pache is back if cave gets sent down again. Pache apparently has 6 rehab games and is expected back. pache is younger and better defensively. But cave is the only left handed outfield bat off the bench even with pache coming back. Rojas and pache are both righties so i wonder since Castro still has options left to get sent down and that’s what they do. Plus cave can play first and have sosa as your ultimate utility guy in the infield.

harrison was awful. That said sosa isn’t bad but the issue was the Phillies were overusing him. When he’s used once and even twice a week it’s fine. When you start playing him 3-5 times then it becomes an issue and his warts get exposed.

Milton Williams 2 sacks as a rookie and 4 sacks last year, his second season.  3rd year DT which is when they sully start to really shine and I'd imagine he might grt more snaps than he has previously in his career.

I think 6-8 sacks for him this season is in play.

I have no issue with Sosa.  Just... how many of that player do you need?  I think 2 is a little high.

Pache and Rojas both being right handed bats makes them more likely to not both be on the roster.  I think they need to pick one.  They need a left handed bat on the bench, so I think Cave sticks.

With a healthy Marsh, they can play him in LF, keep Rojas in CF, DH Schwarber and let Harper play 1B. (Thinking more about a playoff lineup, where there are more off days built in to the schedule), and then you have Cave as a lefty bat on the bench, and Rhys as a righty bat.  Does that expose Rojas?  It hasn't so far.  He's still batting over 0.300!  And more importantly, the defense in the outfield with him in CF and Marsh in LF is much much better than throwing Schwarber out there, or having Marsh in CF and Cave in LF.  Sosa could be a defensive replacement for Harper (moving Bohm to first and Sosa to third) if so desired, not so much because Harper can't handle first, but to give him an inning or two off in the field.

But, I think they have to keep Castro to have an extra IF available.   Which, in my book, means that Pache is the odd man out.  Unfortunate.  He certainly could be added along with Rhys in September...

Turner's hustle and stolen base really looms large now to keep the game tied.  That was a huge run.   Need more offense...

I can't wait to be back in the area permanently in a few months...then I can enjoy Phillies games on local tv!  I haven't followed to closely this year, but if Turner is coming around they're just waiting on JT Realcute-o to turn it on?
