Roster Question #2 are you keeping any of the following WRs on your 53-man roster?

Ngata
Ward
Cleveland
King
Cain
Allen

That assumes the following five WRs are locks.

Brown
Smith
Watkins
Zaccheaus
Covey

Is it Plausible Jobe, Ricks, and Ringo all make the 53?

Yes.  I think it is approaching likely.

LB. There’s no reason to carry more than 4 and I would consider going with just 3.

With the new PS rules, Jack/Cunningham likely can sit there and be available when needed.

I know there was a lot of hype when Jack and Cunningham signed but I was confused by not just signing one but both

Neither of them at their age are going to give you much on special teams and both I think are past the point in their careers where they are reliable starters.

Jack was pretty bad last year in Pitt And he's damaged goods, his tires are bald.

Meanwhile Cunningham has barley played the last two years due to injury and when he had played he's useless on passing plays but good against the run in a passing league.

Everybody may be down on morrow but at least the dude can run and isn't hobbled and is decent in pass coverage.

I wouldnt be surprised if one or both of Jack and Cunningham were cut

Signing them just looks desperate especially seeing as neither play teams.

Maybe the eagles need to put a little more resources into LB Instead of bringing in 1 year rentals off other teams trash heaps...

Cunningham has played a lot of special teams; more than 520 snaps between 2017 and 2020.  It’s not like a 28 year-old is going to forget how.

Much of his pass defense numbers were due to playing for a lousy Texans team.  His numbers against the pass improved when he got into the Titans defense.

As of today no.    I think Ngata and Cleveland have a very small chance of making themselves into legit outside WR backups that you wouldn't risk cutting but history tells me they'll be cut and make it to PS

I personally would sign KJ Hamler. I don’t know why they haven’t already. Especially with Quez dinged. KJ has some pericarditis, but once they get that taken care of he should be ok to return to play.

Our LBs right now are Nakobe Dean, Morrow, Elliss, Jack and Cunningham.

That's bad. If Elliss misses any time, we're in real trouble.

There have been rumblings of Jordan Hicks losing his job in Minnesota....

As a vested veteran, I can only see Howie bringing in Hicks after Week One.  He doesn’t want to be on the hook for the whole season salary guarantee.  He will want to pay a vested veteran on a week to week basis.

With that said, I don’t know how the CBA handles vested veterans who are on the Practice Squad on Week One.

Plausible? Sure.

Likely? No. The reason Ricks went undrafted (character) didn't change.

It would be really tough to keep Ricks since we’ve got the top three corners, McPherson as the backup slot (plus experience outside and could maybe be the emergency PR?), Jobe and Ringo as locks at this point.

Maybe we can go a little light at OL with guys like Kelly and Andrews on the PS.

We could carry five safeties, with Desai supposedly liking lots of three-safety lineups.

We are going to carry three QBs.

We are going to go heavy at DT too.

After what seemed to be a quiet training camp for Ricks, I had written him off as a practice squad candidate. That was just one preseason game, but it was also my first real impression of him. If he keeps it up, we may have to keep 7 CBs on the 53. I figured we'd keep 6 at most.

Some people shine when the lights come on. I'd like to see him against starters the same as Ngata in a game but if they do well I'd keep both.

Does Mariota deserve a spot is another question. If Hurts goes down I have less faith in him than I did the stash. I'd rather them make a deal with Foles like JM a few years ago or go with the kid. Waste of a spot.

No. They wouldn't be active for any games, barring injury. We'll be able to retain at least a couple on the PS.

Alec Bohm with a bat slam... and an ejection, after getting called out on a bad 3rd strike call.

Its disgusting that umps can get away with this crap in 2023.

He should be out of the game for calling that a strike. He should be fined and suspended.

They should have to take as much abuse short of violence from the players over this.

If he does it 25 times he is out of a job.

There is no point to home plate umpires, just get rid of them and use the tracker.

I would not buy a house if I was McPhearson. If Ricks or Goodrich (who played slot CB) makes the team, it's at McPhearson's expense.

I would also be surprised to go 8OL instead of 9.
Mailata-Dickerson-Kelce-Jurgens-Lane + Steen/Driscoll/Andrews/Sills. If they didn't cut Sills during the SB, I don't see the point in doing it now.

I still think Mariota would look much better surrounded by our starting offense. He's also only been here a short time. I would imagine he'd be much more comfortable as the season progresses.

I think it boils down to: Do you like the offense designed around Hurts or do you prefer a more traditional style? Mariota is a fit, he just isn't as good as Hurts. When MInshew replaced Hurts last season, all the read option stuff was a joke because everybody knew he wasn't keeping it.

I like what I saw from McKee, but I don't think he's ready to just step in as a QB2 just yet.

Hopefully this year, they start to move away from the offense being designed around Hurts' legs.  Use it as a threat, not as a staple of the offense.   And never, never again an 18 carry game like against the Bears last year.  If he's going to run... do so, but get down and take less punishment.  No more trying to run over defenders.

You are nothing if not consistent.  The grass is always greener for you on the other side of the fence.

I don't either, but it just seems like MM is a waste of a spot. You could be right he'd be better with the starters but he doesn't seem like a threat to throw the ball without a pick.

Andrews seems like the ultimate practice squad guy. He’s old, he’s not great and he he’s buried on the depth chart. He can hang out on the practice squad and fill in for Kelces off practice days and can be elevated if Kelce or Jurgens has an injury. Otherwise I don’t see the point of him being on the 53.

I agree with both of your points.  Opeta and Kelly and Roderick Johnson should all make it to the Practice Squad.  I don’t see us going below 9 though.

Lot of truth in this. No reason to keep him on the 53.

And now Thomson is tossed after Harper is called out looking at strike 3 in the next at-bat in the following inning.

If Andrews goes to the PS, who are your Roster O-linemen?

I'm not a big fan of Josh Andrews. For me, it's a question of what the alternatives are.

Like Jack & Cunningham I think Andrews is certainly a candidate to be cut before 53 and re-signed

Andrews isn’t really needed at this point. I think he can sit on the PS and collect a paycheck until there’s an injury.
