It would be really tough to keep Ricks since we’ve got the top three corners, McPherson as the backup slot (plus experience outside and could maybe be the emergency PR?), Jobe and Ringo as locks at this point.

Maybe we can go a little light at OL with guys like Kelly and Andrews on the PS.

We could carry five safeties, with Desai supposedly liking lots of three-safety lineups.

We are going to carry three QBs.

We are going to go heavy at DT too.

I think we can go light at wr

If Andrews goes to the PS, who are your Roster O-linemen?

Same 8 as listed before but I think it would make more sense to keep Opeta and or Kelly, even if Kelly contradicts my point about Andrews. Andrews is essentially the third team C. If he has to play the team is in trouble, and he doesn’t have the upside to take up a spot on the 53 all year.

I wonder if you are one of the hundreds of California 49ers fan thugs do you travel all the way to Vegas to fight Raiders fans in the preseason?

Its a given if its in Oakland or SF but that's a decent drive for showing how tough you are in a preseason game.

If they have joint practices do you rumble there as well?

The only reason to keep Andrews is if you didn’t want to move Jurgens mid game to center

In that case they'd also have to dress him for each game.

Yes that would be the only reason. Wouldn’t keep him to inactivate him. That makes no sense

I know coaches don’t prefer to move around guys if they don’t have to but there’s no way I can be convinced sliding Jurgens to center and putting anyone else at RG is more detrimental than Josh Andrews taking live snaps. I honestly think the major reason he was signed to begin with was because Toth was so bad at snaps he was wasting second team offensive snaps.

You can apply this comment to 80% of games. Most teams don't have 6 OL, let alone 10.

@just relax if you are so inclined can you take a look at the snaps where Roderick Johnson played Tackle? I vaguely remember Mike Quick making a positive comment about his play yesterday.  Do your eyes confirm that?

I'm curious to see if Goodrich can make his way on the team. Assuming we keep 6 I don't see how he makes the cut but I think he has looked solid. Hopefully we can stash him on the PS

I just think 6 is the minimum. I'm going to be annoying but I'm standing by my belief that they just can't let this much CB talent go. The worst CB on this team probably has more potential than the worst players at every other position. With the expanded practice squad rules and call ups, I think you have to protect the CBs who could develop and call up players as you need from the PS.

Our LBs right now are Nakobe Dean, Morrow, Elliss, Jack and Cunningham.

That's bad. If Elliss misses any time, we're in real trouble.

There have been rumblings of Jordan Hicks losing his job in Minnesota....

Probably because Ivan Pace is the real deal😡

Is it Plausible Jobe, Ricks, and Ringo all make the 53?

100%. Jobe and Ringo are locks. I think the real question is is it plausible Garner and Goodrich make the team?

The 49ers had Williams, McGlinchey, and duct tape last year.

They let McGlinchey go and spent that money on Hargrave.

Then they drafted a kicker in round 3 and a total of zero O-lineman.

Their starting O-line will not be good and a single injury could make them a bottom 5 O-line.

It's not like they were knocked out of the playoffs for not protecting their QB or something

I am standing there with you

Well, spent most of the trying battling DAZN to watch the game without constant buffering and stream resets; the NFL took an average product and gave it to someone who made it much, much worse. And it seems DAZN have given the same experience to most of the world with their platform. Great work Goodell.

So thanks for the coverage - had zero idea the likes of Carter got snaps.  But from I could see thought McKee looked good and Ngata showed some things.

Sorry to hear DAZN is so bad now. I had a good experience with it in Berlin but that was like 2016.

I like some of the interior of SF (Burford was very good for a rookie 4th rounder last year), but they play such a reckless style of play. We complain about the hits Jalen Hurts takes, but Kyle Shanahan has his QB turn his back to the defense with bad/average OL over, and over again. There's a reason their QBs always get hurt.

As in keep only 4?

Roster Question #2 are you keeping any of the following WRs on your 53-man roster?

Ngata
Ward
Cleveland
King
Cain
Allen

That assumes the following five WRs are locks.

Brown
Smith
Watkins
Zaccheaus
Covey

No. Agreed. A couple of those guys will end up on the PS and will be available for game activation anyway. No need to over invest there when there are other positions (secondary primarily) that we have better young talent to cultivate.

It was so weird when the Ravens started the game with the great Josh Johnson who would have beaten us in the NFCCG if only he did not suck, fumble often, and get hurt.

I don't think anyone made a single comment about it in the blog.

Perhaps

especially if a db or rb can handle kick returns

the young developmental cb is mich higher value than a totally replaceable 5th wr

Will have some on the PS anyway
