That’s the way to do it.  Agree on contracts that allow your team to be perennial contenders - then make even more through endorsements.  Worked out pretty good for Tom Brady and now Mahomes.  Seems like Jalen is following a similar path.

If you can tell me roughly when he entered the game I'll look but it was just getting too ugly for me to keep watching. The Johnson who wears #50 did not look good. Hands flapping, feet churning. He has to slow down.

BTW, I though Steen looked better at LT than RG.

50 is Fred Johnson.  66 is Roderick Johnson.

I'll try and get a rough estimate of when Roderick came in.  If anyone else has that estimate, please share it with jr.

At least for me its not a dislike for McPhearson, its more the higher potential the others have. McPhearson doesn't get on the field a whole lot and primarily plays special teams. McPhearson had 99 defensive snaps last year, 11 more snaps than Robert Quinn... He actually played less in his 2nd year than he did his rookie year.

That is because Slay, Nelson and Bradberry were healthy. (I will never be unhappy about starters being healthy.)  Yet those 99 snaps were good.  How often does a starter go out and the backup is targeted successfully?  That really hasn’t been the case with McPhearson.   McPhearson was likely slotted to start when Bradberry fell into their laps.  McPhearson or an All Pro isn’t a condemnation of McPhearson.

Now the "starting” CB that has had health issues has been Maddox.  Last year, the Eagles went Scott and then Blakenship with CJGJ sliding to the slot.  This year, they took their top backup CB and asked him to learn the slot.  He has performed well there.

50 is Fred, who went in the earliest of the reserve Johnsons.  Believe he went in when Driscoll sat.  Roderick is 66.  IIRC, he went in at LT in the second half.  I think the line was R Johnson, Toth, Tom, Good-Jones, Kelly.

Thanks

You can apply this comment to 80% of games. Most teams don't have 6 OL, let alone 10.

Yeah, but the 49ers starting 5 is warm puke as well.  Get rid of silverback and it's one of the worst in the league.

Lurie needs to spearhead/facilitate local Philadelphia deals for Hurts that can get him money that causes Hurts to soften his Cap impact.

Yup, I think McPherson is fine, I was confused last year when Gannon would play Josiah Scott over him, Scott is trash.

McPhearson was an outside CB in college and played there here too.  Slot is different than outside and the reactions have to be trained to.  So this summer is really his first exposure to it. (BTW, Scott was an outside CB in college and in the pros hasn’t shown the mirroring and quickness skills to play slot well, IMHO.  This summer’s training of McPhearson seems to be going okay.  The ability to broaden McPhearson is because Jobe seems much better this year than last.  Cornerback is one of the greatest position transitions (and busts) from college to the pros because of the difference in rules.

I don't think they would cut McPhearson since he's a 4th rounder going into his 3rd year, but feel hes a good candidate to land on IR after final cut downs as the Eagles try to sneak someone through waivers to bring back. There's just a lot of talent at CB in the pipeline right now, and it's a good difficult decision that has to be made. Just wish we had even a fraction of this talent at LB.

Yup, I expect McPherson will play some in the slot this year as it's inevitable that Maddox goes down for a number of games, I have zero faith in him staying healthy, he just hasn't shown he can, which is too bad because when he's healthy he's a pretty good nickel.

Having a bunch of promising young corners is good problem to have.

Will be interesting to see how it all shakes out and who and how many Howie keeps.

No chance. He is clearly the backup nickel. He's on the 53.

We'll carry 6: Slay, Bradberry, Maddox, Jobe, Ringo and McPhearson

Putting McPhearson on IR makes no sense.  If that is the option, then Howie should simply trade him.

I think we've seen the last of Carter & Davis in PS games. Only reason for a body there now

We'll carry 8 (unless McPhearson is traded): Slay, Bradberry, Maddox, Jobe, Ringo, McPhearson, Ricks and Garner

We aren't carrying 8 CBs. No chance in hell.

Expect NFL teams to do some churning on the 90 man rosters this week.  Eagles need to be trying out punters, IMHO.  Would seem that they can find better competition for Sisposs than Zenter.

In Thursday's game against the Browns, I expect Mariota will play the whole 1st Half and McKee will play the whole 2nd Half.  Then against the Colts only McKee and Book will play.

7 is a lot, let alone 8. Garner isn't making the team.

Time will tell.

Matt Araiza is still out there and if they kept a certain OL after similar allegations...

If they're set on keeping Garner, they could feasibly go with Slay/Bradberry/Maddox/McPherson/Jobe/Ringo/Ricks and finally cut ties with K'Von Wallace.

Not sure why they're still hanging onto him.  He's been solidly beaten out by an undrafted player and any time there's been a position available, they've either signed or traded for someone else.  And now they've brought in Brown who's making a great impression so far.

Garner sticks on the roster and is your 4th safety in a pinch.  Although they would probably flip him or Ricks for depth elsewhere or a pick.

A front with Sagapolu and Ellis is massive. Seems overkill at DT, but I suspect the churning isn’t finished.

Uh, you cut Ringo buddy. Which there's zero chance of them doing since they traded a 2024 3rd to get him.

I refuse to believe that. The 49ers are the bestest team in football and only lose when they are conspired against.

...yes that happened.  Oops.

Fixed.

The loss of McGlinchy is a huge problem for them, especially since we and Dallas are the main competition. Enjoy having a subpar RT deal with Reddick and Parsons.
