Another bomber with flat hang time?  No thanks.  With this offense, good hang time and directional are more important.

Just for the Blog I'm going to power rank all 300 of Harper's home runs

  • I hope all the dads here had a wonderful fathers day

Posted Images

This is where I'm at after the game

QB (3): Hurts, Mariota, McKee. I am a better QB than Ian Book.

RB (4): Swift, Penny, Gainwell and Scott. They gave Scott over $1mm guaranteed, and they know him. Sermon hopefully sneaks to the PS.

WR (5): Brown, Smith, Watkins, Zaccheus, Covey. Everyone gets hyped about the longshot WRs every camp, but a couple of them will clear waivers.

TE (3): Goedert, Stoll and Calcaterra. No surprises here.

OL (9): Mailata, Dickerson, Kelce, Jurgens, Johnson, Steen, Sills, Andrews, Driscoll. Sills being cleared spells the end of Opeta, who likely ends up on the PS.

Total Offense: 24

DE (3): Sweat, Graham, Barnett. Barnett's contract restructure guaranteed his spot.

DT (6): Cox, Davis, Williams, Carter, Ojomo, Tuipoloto. Can't cut any of these guys, and we went 6 deep at DT last year.

SLB (3):  Reddick, Smith, P. Johnson. I want to keep K. Johnson for ST, but just no room.

ILB (4): Dean, Morrow, Jack, Ellis. Before this game, I thought Morrow was in trouble. Now, looks like he is set and Cunningham is gone.

CB (6): Slay, Bradberry, Maddox, Jobe, McPhearson, Ringo. Gotta hope Ricks makes it to the PS.

S (4): Blankenship, Edmunds, Brown, Wallace. I'd consider cutting Wallace to keep Ricks, because I think better chance K'Von clears waivers. But I think team keeps him.

Total Defense: 26

Lovato, Siposs, Elliott

Expect NFL teams to do some churning on the 90 man rosters this week.  Eagles need to be trying out punters, IMHO.  Would seem that they can find better competition for Sisposs than Zenter.

Just to set the record straight, Zentner was mis-identified on that final poor punt by the Eagles. The announcer claimed it was Zentner when it was Siposs. Zentner only punted once and seemed to do a decent enough job (haven't gotten around to charting stuff yet so I don't have the exact numbers), so I don't see why he would be on anyone's ish list at this point.

As impressive as Ricks was with nearly 2 pick 6s, Garner was consistently making himself known for a long stretch in the game. I think he may have had the best overall game of the backup DBs.

Trouble is, Im not sure if any of these guys can stick on our PS. Each of them may get snatched up by another team.

I think its gotta be time to let Zech go to make room for another one of these guys.

Zech and Scott being cut wouldn’t kill me.

Slay, Bradberry, Maddox, Jobe, Ricks, Garner. Maybe have Ringo as a CB/S project. Garner and Jobe will do well on ST as well.

I refuse to believe that. The 49ers are the bestest team in football and only lose when they are conspired against.

They are just a QB away from being a contender!

That's both snarky and the truth.  Purdy

Yeah I don't grt why Zech is untouchable.  He has shown nothing since being eith the Eagles.

8 seems a bit heavy, I mean I get it's a passing league and corner is a premium position, but 8???

I'm just not sure where else on the roster one goes light to compensate for going heavy at corner.?

Maddox is always hurt and none of the other guys play the slot. Unless you wanna keep Scott.

We aren't carrying 8 CBs. No chance in hell.

They’ve done it in the past with far less talent.

Yep.  Lack of LB depth could likely have them play a lot of 5 DB packages/schemes. If you’re playing 5 DB’s on a regular basis, would only make sense to have 2-3 reserves, imo   And keep in mind, a lot of these guys will end up playing all over the field, etc.

When did we carry 8?

I think it is Kempski that has charted hang times in TC.  As awful as Sisposs has been, Zentner has been worse.  Frankly, I wouldn’t be disappointed in neither making the final 53.

Can they room together on the road to keep each other out of trouble .... like Earl Thomas and his brother?

I actually would rather have a big leg punter if I'm the Eagles. They're going to go for it on 4th down if they're near the 50 anyway, pinning it inside the 20 isn't as important for them. They're only going to punt when they're backed up on their own side of the field so it's important for them to have a big leg.

But that's assuming Araiza couldn't do both. He's said before in college he was asked to boom punts, but he can kick directionally and with hang time as well. Regardless, I'd take him over what we have with a peg leg.

7 CBs is a possibility - I think you make such a thing a possibility when you start 2 30+ YO CBs. 8 isn't happening unless they consider 1 of those guys a S.

Something to keep in mind when plotting out your 53. Desai is expected to play a lot of three-safety sets. Maybe they can get by with 4 and carry a 5th on the PS.

We’re going to carry 3 QBs so we can’t save a spot there.

We can go light at LB since we only have two true LB positions on the team, but we’re still going to be heavy at edge (Graham, Reddick, Sweat, Barnett, Smith and possibly one of Johnson/Robinson).

I keep coming back to this. The path to an extra corner is having Andrews be our 9th OL but as a member of the PS.

Yep. People aren’t really thinking of roster construction, only talent. McPhearson can theoretically play every corner spot and maybe be an emergency PR.

Evans has played some nickel, but he isn’t really saving a roster spot since it would probably mean going heavy at safety.

What have either Ricks or Garner shown that have you ranking either ahead of any of the two you cut?  Nonsense.  Garner’s lack of speed shows.  Ricks had four passes defensed against scrubs.  But did you see his play away from the ball?  Not much better than Williams.  Was it his play at Alabama that made a believer out of you?  Was it Garner’s at Louisiana?  Just curious.  Size doesn’t create a S anymore than it creates a nickel (blame the draft prognosticators for both).  What of Ringo’s instincts have you projecting him as a S?

Who are you reserve OL? Steen, Driscoll and Sills?

I think this is probably spot on.

At TE I was hoping tyree Jackson would put up more of a fight for TE3 but seems he's tapped out.

LB is the one spot that is iffy, I'm not a fan of jack, he's damaged goods and I'm not sure how much he's going to help on teams and with Bradley gone someone is going to have to pick up that slack.

Can Zech?  He only started training there this summer.

He was better at it than Scott the minute he woke up and scratched his balls the first day of TC.

Okay then. Frankly I've never really considered Zentner to be a real challenger for the spot. I've always thought it would be Siposs' job to lose. And for the record, I have not considered Siposs to be awful. Or anywhere close to that.

Incidentally this leads me to a conjecture regarding the 53-man roster. It is entirely possible, perhaps even probable, that the Eagles don't even carry a punter on their active roster the first three weeks. They can simply put Siposs on the practice squad (no one is likely to claim him on waivers) and activate him for games. It's the same maneuver they used with Covey last year until they ran out of free activations and were forced to promote him.

So for people playing the "guess the 53-man roster" game, I would suggest you could easily get away with not even including a punter.

Harden is a bum

James Harden: "Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of. Let me say that again: Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of.”

NBA truly is the worst league with how much leverage they give to the players. David Stern is rolling over in his grave right now. There is a balance between ensuring that a player has the right to hit free agency versus holding a team hostage. Harden signed his option, so regardless of what may or may have not been promised he should have known there was a chance he'd still be with the Sixers next season. He signed it because he knew he wouldn't get anything near $35 million on the open market. Sorry, can't have it both ways. Either stay or hit free agency and take a significant pay cut to ensure you end up in a spot where you actually want to be.

The fact that he's looking to get to his fourth team in three years is a joke.
