Ben Solak said he gave off Marcus Epps vibes!

But, Marcus Epps never made any plays, couldn’t cover and couldn’t tackle

I like how Ward has to wait to talk trash till someone good does something.

28 years old

I don't see Sydney Brown/Marcus Epps as the same player at all.

I see more Ernie Sims near the LOS. Brown was flying around not caring who he was going to hit. If you want another safety, think Kurt Coleman (but less athletic than Sydney).

He dominated in the preseason game.

Sounds like a motorcycle crash. Horrible.

The article says he just found out 6 months ago. Regardless of the timing, them asking him to sign under a conservatorship seems odd on its own. Curious to hear what their reasoning was for this.

They were con artists and they conned him. Its the only reason he would not get at least half the money.

If what they did was legal or not is TBD.

Its completely unethical either way.

He was 18 when he put pen to paper, so my guess is it's basically legal, but obviously paints them in a horrible light if they convinced him it was all on the up and up, yet the optics will only get worse for them should this go to court. My guess is this ends with some sort of settlement before it gets that far to limit the damage.

The Jets are gonna be fun to watch not get it done this year

They could have a pretty bad O-line and a QB who could fall apart at any minute at his age and weirdness but they have a lot of talent now.

I didn’t pay much attention to scheme or alignment in-game, but it was nice to see cut-ups of the Eagles corners pressing and our safeties spinning instead of sitting in deep zones.

I fully expect our defense to take a step back statistically, but I think our ceiling will be higher against good quarterbacks since we’re not asking our pass rush and corners to be elite in a vanilla scheme.

Couldn't possibly disagree with you more.

He’ll find that comforting.

Fully agree with this. This is how you beat good teams, especially outdoors when it's cold.

I just wish we had an Impact LB.

We might. Lets see Dean in some real game action.

Saw Sydney Brown had a sack in practice today. The way he was closing in the Baltimore game, he’ll be a fun wrinkle in some blitz packages. He has some Bob Sanders vibes.

Ah, that's a great comparison! I loved Bob Sanders. If he turns in to that, fantastic.

To add context, Ben was not being complimentary of Epps.

Taylor got cut, and Dean got injured. Two went down, brought 2 in. It was a bodies thing.

I agree with you.

I think the Dean panic is/was utterly ridiculous. And dont understand the expectation of Morrow's failure. That makes no sense at all.

I dont know what reporters expect to see LBs do in practice without contact. They have no idea what the LBs assignments are and if theyre running to the correct place on the field. Obviously Davion Taylor was not, and the writers didnt seem to have noticed at all.  They are clueless, and people shouldnt be evaluating LB camp performances through tweets.

Not panicking over Dean but I'd love to see him get some reps and get a feel things actually calling the defense. He's an unknown for the most part. If he's healthy, he needs to get some playing time.

Carter was the clear best player on the best Defense in the history of college football for a reason.

Ed Reed might have a claim to that too.

Pretty sure we went undefeated to win the joint practice superbowl in 2021 and then lost all the joint practices in 2022, which earned us the top overall pick in the joint practice squad draft, which was used to re-acquire Greg Ward.

He also said it was a hot take and not to hold it to him as it was just his initial reaction.

I’d hope he stays healthier than sanders. Sanders was fantastic when he was healthy though.

So Julian Good-Jones was the 2nd team C today. Josh Andrews is basically the 4th team C at this point. If the Eagles want to make it a priority to keep a backup C, at least go with a younger guy with more upside in Good-Jones.

I'd love to see everybody get some preseason reps. It doesn't have to be a lot, but I'm not scared that those games are any more of an injury risk than practices, or scrimmages. We saw some time management issues Saturday with the coaches and 2nd team. I think the preseason games are the only real way to work on that stuff. With a new DC and a new player with the green dot, they should test out the communication in a real game setting.

I think Dean would have played a few snaps had he not been fresh off the ankle tweak. Maybe this week, but I don't think the coaches have the guts to face any criticism of "exposing starters to injury" in "meaningless games." Last year Hurts took that cheap shot out of bounds and now the coaches are shell-shocked.

It doesn’t even have to do with how good anyone is. A bottom of the roster, rookie CB is going to be more valuable than a 3rd string old Center.

Not necessarily. *IF* the bottom of the roster rookie CB is equivalent to the kind of player you can find on the street at a moment's notice at any point in the season. Or *IF* that CB is the equivalent to the kind of player you expect to be able to draft in the late rounds the following year...then you might be better off with a veteran backup center to get you through a season.

Sometimes bottom of the roster rookies are like appetites -- there will be another one coming along soon enough.
