Did the EMB change colors?

Or do I need to seek medical assistance immediately?

I use dark mode so I wouldn't know. I switched and couldn't tell if the colors were new

A good look at Dean's performance against the Browns, and also a chance to see the Dlinemen and safeties as well.

It is real easy to see how well he is going to fit playing behind Carter and Davis. Also hats off to the Browns qb for finding the spots where our coverage wasn't great. Cunningham seems somewhat meh to me, but if the safeties are above average, we shouldn't notice him too much. Although I will add that it's easy to envision Sydney Brown blowing by him to make tackles.

I would take all pre-season performances with a grain of salt, especially with Desai, who seems to experiment and cross train more than Gannon, I think both to prepare players for in game injuries and to evaluate which players can be plugged into different roles off the bench.

Azaria or whatever his name is

Hank Azaria (awesome character actor and the voice of The Simpsons' Apu) punting would be phenomenally entertaining at minimum.

VanSumeren wasn't drafted at all.  He was a udfa.

Was VanSumeren drafted to play special teams?  Maybe but I don't think so.

VanSumeren really doesn't have a clear path to snaps on defense this year.

Dean with the green dot is expected to play every snap.

There is debate about the other LB spot.   Cunningham and Elliss seem right now to be the most likely of all the ILBs to get snaps.   Jack is now gone.

Last year,  the Eagles had a lot of LBs who didn't really play defense all that much.  Some played no defense.   They played special teams last year.  These players played special teams a lot and LB not much.   Dean, Elliss, Bradley, K Johnson, P Johnson.   Elliss, K Johnson and P Johnson might all be back, playing mostly special teams.  The Eagles don't have starters with the green dot who play all the time also play a lot on special teams.  So, that's one special teams spot that needs filled.   Bradley is hurt.  That's 2 special teams spots that need filled.   Is K Johnson making the team before VanSumeren?  I don't know.  I don't remember seeing him out there all that much.  P Johnson appears to be doing well, so I'd say it's more likely he makes the 53.  I see 2 or 3 ILBs that need to be brought in to play special teams.  VanSumeren has done well at special teams.  So I think he get it.

If VanSumeren were just too tired and worn out from playing too much defense on top of the special teams snaps,  he wouldn't have the time and energy to play Fullback - or WR or TE or RB or Versatile Back or whatever you call the position that doesn't really have a star who is starting.   But I see Elliss ahead of VanSumeren for ILB snaps.

I'm guessing that VanSumeren was brought in as a udfa because my recommendation that VanSumeren be brought in as a udfa was so persuasive.   Most players in college were not playing offense for 2 years and then defense for 3 years, and special teams all along.   VanSumeren is extremely Versatile.  As in Versatile Freakbeast.  VanSumeren is both Versatile and Freakbeast.   VanSumeren can play on offense - blocking, catching, running and throwing, and ILB,  in addition to special teams,  as long as he's not otherwise too busy.

Not just VanSumeren, but there are a lot of players who could play offense who aren't doing much on defense.  The Eagles ran a 4-2-5 last year.  2 DTs,  1 DE,  1 OLB.  And this year it looks like the Eagles are going to keep roughly 12 for those 4 spots.   That's a lot,  1st 2nd and 3rd string for all 4 spots.  The defense looks like it's going to be more defense than offense.  I'm saying hey, if the defense is going to take more players than the offense,  how about if the defense lets the offense use the extra players that they aren't using very much.  Additionally, those DLs really don't play special teams all that much.  You don't want Davis and Cox running down field trying to tackle a Punt or Kick returner.   Last year, it was CB, S, and LB who took the most special teams snaps.

I'm not saying that the Eagles are going to have a lot of players play a few snaps on offense, waiting until they become too busy playing defense to continue to play a little bit of offense.  I have a lot of players, on defense, who could play that TE2 position,   which in my view is a starting position.  But I'm not saying that will happen.   WR1,  WR2 - Brown and Smith,  backups Quez and OZ.   TE1 Goedert, TE1 backup Stoll.  TE2 another starting position,  Tyree Jackson,  and a whole lot of the versatile freakbeasts playing a few snaps here and there, depending on the situation.

I got 11 of those versatile freakbeasts who are playing the versatile back position, or the unnecessary back position.  I use unnecessary because someone explained to me that Quez had an essential role as a decoy.  If all Quez does is decoy stuff,  my versatile freakbeasts can do more than that.

Up in Saskatchewan and watching some CFL right now.  This LB Brunson just laid an amazing hit on punt coverage.  Eagles should look into him.

Was a hell of a game actually.  Almost a big comeback, right down to the wire.  The hit occurred in the first half

Okay, I see that no one took me up on the offer (which would be easy enough to look up if you know how).

Let's try again. Donnie Jones averaged 4.22 hangtime the year the Eagles won the Super Bowl. Arryn Siposs averaged 4.33 hangtime his first year. So what was his dreadful hangtime average in his brutal season last year?

Really? I certainly think it would be.

Crude math but think about it this way. Over four games thats a five percent likelyhood. With a 95% confidence interval, its still just statistical noise. And i think you way over estimate that probability anyway

I don't understand why they keep comparing the two or using Hurts to say Fields can improve as well

Just because Hurts made an astronomical leap from 2022 to 2023 doesn't mean Fields can do this or that

For me, it is the inconsistency and his lack of ability to place kicks within the ten.  That and the periodic shanks.  He’s a JAG type punter.  We want All Pros at every position. Seriously though, it is a position where Howie needs to always be scouting to improve.  Sisposs punting is like Greg Ward punt returning.  For every punt that Ward lets bounce, Sisposs misses the corner, shanks it or gets a low hang time line drive that is returnable.

Rick Gosselin does ST rankings every year.  The Eagles ranked 31st last season.  The SB Champion Chiefs ranked 32nd.

The arguably worst team in the league, Texans, ranked 1st.

Interesting to see who the Texans’ punter was.
