Sigh. This should come as no surprise. The Steeler system is LB-centric. Ours is not. Ours is DL, then CBs, then S. We play a light box a lot. They play a heavy box. They want bigger, stronger LBs and they almost always have three on the field, if not four. We play two. Their LBs have a different physical profile. Our LBs couldn’t play in their system and their LBs couldn’t play in ours.

Accept that we play different systems and value different talents. It might be worth noting that our defense is better.

I know. I just LOVE good LB play. It pains me to go from some of the greats we've had here to now scrap pile additions and almost a forgotten position.

While there's not a lot going on at the moment, here's a question that I came up with and found sort of interesting.

Would you RIGHT NOW....if you were offered...trade Jordan Davis to a team like the Colts (a team you think will probably be bad this year) for a second round pick in next year's draft. You figure it'd be somewhere between 33 and 40.

Has Davis shown you enough thus far that in your heart of hearts makes you think he's going to eventually become an all-star caliber player? Forget what we paid for him. That's a sunk cost. We might only be getting seventy cents on the dollar, but is there a chance that a year or two from now his value would be even worse and we'd be lamenting not getting something of value when we could?

Remember, when we picked him we had no idea that we'd be able to land Jalen Carter the following year.

The coaches see him every day and we've only seen glimpses so maybe this is an absurdity of a question. Still, I honestly don't know what I'd do. I'd certainly give it some thought.

Too soon and too little in compensation to move on from him already.   Cox will be gone and we'll have Davis, Carter and Milton Williams.  Not sure we have so much at DT that we need to sell a player at a discount right now.

Great start Nola 🤬

I won't argue.

He’s bad. But the Phillies never beat the giants. So I’m not expecting much.

maybe we should give him a standing ovation.

He gave up a home run to a guy with a frosted mullet for F sakes! He should be booed till his ears bleed

He’s having a 2009 hamels year. Hamels had the same issues the following year where he just wasn’t the same due to the amount of innings and how deep they went into the season. I’m betting he’s back to closer to normal nola next year. But at this point not sure you can have him be your no. 2 in a playoff series especially if you fall behind 0-1

Didn’t know if someone posted this

@Iggles_Phan with the way trea turner is hitting right now since the ovation might want to try this lineup

Turner (R)

harper (L)

Castellanos (R)

schwarber (L)

bohm (R)

stott (L)

realmuto (R)

marsh (L)

rojas/cave/sosa

gives you R/L throughout the lineup. Turner getting on base and so is harper gives castellanos, schwarber chances to hit multi run homers and bohm to clean up if they can’t do it.

I was never a fan of drafting Davis. Leading up to the draft I was 100% against it. And definitely against trading up for him. I feel like run stuffing DTs can be had for a much lower price. I always wonder if the draft capital we gave up in that trade up could have landed us Tariq Woolen, who I was a big fan of drafting.

HOWEVER... No... at this point I wouldn't trade Davis for a 2nd. I'd ride it out, coach him up, and hope that it works out. Even if I don't think he was worth a trade up for the 13th pick, I certainly think he has the potential to be worth more than a 2nd rounder.

id vote we’d let one of the banished back but they have to use the screen name "we are never getting back 2gether” or "feeling 22” and use a pic of Taylor swift as the avatar

I'm all for it.   Give one to Schwarber too, and maybe he will start to hit his weight!

These are some great at bats this inning.

I like it.   I also like getting Harper higher, rather than lower in the lineup.

He gets more at bats that way. Plus schwarber if he’s gonna be an out or HR rather have him up there with a chance to have guys on and bohm hitting behind him so he can clean up if he’s an out.
