For those saying Julio over Mike Evans earlier this week.

Howie ain't paying Taylor.

Not the draft compensation, not the cap compensation.

No one is going to give a RB a big second contract anymore. It sucks, because RB is probably the most physically punishing position in the sport, and it has the shortest career span, but the economics of the NFL have spoken.

They really should’ve kept Vasquez over covey. I don’t see anyone claiming covey since neither had options left. vasquez got claimed cause he actually isn’t complete trash

Way too many Coveys in Philadelphia

Let me preface this by saying there is next to no chance Howie trades for Jonathan Taylor.

But.

Let's say that in another life somewhere, Howie spent a high pick on a Saquon Barkley/Bijan Robinson type of RB.  Didn't have to trade up, the stars just aligned in a way where he was simply too good to pass up and Howie takes him.

And then, in that other life somewhere, that back puts up monster numbers every season and proves himself a top 3 back.

When comes the time for that second contract, does Howie pay him?

While there's not a lot going on at the moment, here's a question that I came up with and found sort of interesting.

Would you RIGHT NOW....if you were offered...trade Jordan Davis to a team like the Colts (a team you think will probably be bad this year) for a second round pick in next year's draft. You figure it'd be somewhere between 33 and 40.

Has Davis shown you enough thus far that in your heart of hearts makes you think he's going to eventually become an all-star caliber player? Forget what we paid for him. That's a sunk cost. We might only be getting seventy cents on the dollar, but is there a chance that a year or two from now his value would be even worse and we'd be lamenting not getting something of value when we could?

Remember, when we picked him we had no idea that we'd be able to land Jalen Carter the following year.

The coaches see him every day and we've only seen glimpses so maybe this is an absurdity of a question. Still, I honestly don't know what I'd do. I'd certainly give it some thought.

No.  An easy and quick no.

Any chance the Phillies Covey can return punts and the Eagles Covey can pitch?

Giants are in town and also have a McCovey cove. It’s a covey-demic

Who would you rather have Huntley or Mariota?

Mariota.

You might want to take a note how much fewer wins the Ravens got with the backups compared to Lamar.

Kenny Gainwell, the Saints 2nd and another pick. Get it done.

Have to include Boston Scott in the deal too.

Evans already has 81 receiving TDs which is 30th all-time. (after his age 29 season)

He averages 15.3 a catch (Moss was 15.6 for a good comparison)

He averages 76.1 yards per game which is 12th all-time.

He averages 1158 yards and 9 TDs per year.

The 1000 yard thing is cute but he's a HoF WR even if he had 995 in a couple of those years.

Mariota got benched for Ryan Tannehill...and then nobody in Atlanta.

Tannehill led the league in QB rating in 2019 and had 40 combined TDs in 2020. He's 36-19 as a Titans starter.  Benched for Tannehill is not a thing.

Running QBs are best. Mariota was the 2nd fastest player in the NFL. If Tyree Jackson is on the field, Mariota is unstoppable. Running QBs are best.

Yet Tenn has looked for his replacement how many times?  Henry is the reason he has that record.

So?

Desmond Ridder replaced Mariota.  I'd rather have Desmond Ridder, or Tannehill, instead of Huntley.  Huntley needed to be displaced as the #2 in Baltimore.  He just wasn't good enough.

Either way,  people here don't seem to understand that these preseason games,  these days at least,  are typically 3,4,5th string vs same.  The games are nice to find players who stand out as being particularly good,  but for the most part, they don't measure all that well.

Busted...Huntley is a running QB!

that's all true

Yes he is.

Huntley is a not fast enough running QB.

The Ravens should have gotten Malik Cunningham or DTR.  But Malik was the right choice because Lamar and Malik were both Louisville.

So bringing in a backup QB is a vote of no confidence? All the good QBs don't have backups?

That's got a Wentz vibe to it.

Its amazing that a RB can make a QB lead the league in passer rating and can get a QB to 40 combined TDs. Was it Miles Sanders getting Hurts to 35 last year?

Drafting a QB at 86 in 2022, finding out he's not even backup quality and drafting another one at 33 in 2023 is normal behavior when your QB is entering his mid 30s. What does that have to do with 2019 when Tannehill replaced Mariota?

The Atlanta bit is good. Stop pretending about the Tennessee bit.
