Please promise not to tell me if he gives them all pearl necklaces

Still the best sled work this draft cycle

Between Carter, Davis, Williams, and even Cox at 32, is there a more athletic DL group in the league? Or even that many historically? Freakish group.

If Foles had had AJ and Devonta in addition to Ertz, would he have leaned on Ertz?

Yes, he wanted to throw it to Ertz and I think that's where they attacked the defense in part to alleviate pressure and give Foles easy reads.  I know you can point to the running game as a being better on the 2022 team but I don't think that's really reflective of the talent at RB.  Sanders and Gainwell were non-existent in the Super Bowl.  Part of that may have been the turf but they just were not tough runners.  Blount and Ajayi destroyed the Patriots in the Super Bowl.  There wasn't a runner on the team, aside from Hurts, that made the Chiefs worried.

This pretty much sums up all player evaluations between now and week 1.

Why wouldn't he have?  Ertz was a matchup nightmare for defenses, which is why he was so frequently targeted, and even more heavily in 2018.

Let's remember how that Super Bowl went.  They had Rowe matched up on Jeffery, and the Eagles took advantage of that matchup over and over.  The Pats responded by moving Gilmore over to Jeffery and the Eagles responded by going to the best matchup they had available, and that was Ertz versus anyone else on their defense.  The play for the go-ahead score was clearly a play that they had specially game planned to take advantage of Ertz one on one against a DB.  And the outcome was exactly what you'd want...

So, if the Eagles had a similar mismatch with Ertz versus the Pats' DBs, even while they have Brown or Smith, why would they go to a lesser mismatch?

Yes.  And Clement's screen pass to set up the Philly special was a HUGE part of that game.  Did any Eagles' RB make a play in the Super Bowl last Feb?  I can't remember one.  Nothing stands out.

So, hes kind of cheating by not taking the choppy steps.  In reality hed get dumped asap trying to hit like that.

At this time last year I asked everyone to pray for Mac Jones because it was obvious Belichick was sewering him by having Joe Judge and Matt Patricia running the offense.  This season it will be interesting to see to what extent Jones can rebound; BOB was horrid with the Texans giving him GM powers, and he wasn't a great head coach -- but he did get quite a lot out of Deshaun Watson.

I'm not convinced the Patriots will finish last this season -- either the Dolphins or Jets might implode.

The Steelers TE room just isn't fair.  Pickett has no excuses if he can't succeed.

Nope

Also saw mention of Maddox.  In all fairness, Lane was just cleared after surgery and not sure if Maddox has been. OTAs really don’t offer much for position drills for OL and DL.  Reports are that Smith had been staying on the field with Jalen during Phase II so this doesn’t mean much.

Clear your schedules.

Sanders set the tone by fumbling the first snap

Mac "Milquetoast" Jones.

That's a good description.  I think at his best Mac Jones is a "pretty good" QB.  Not sure that's any worse than Tua, though.  He just doesn't have Hill and Waddle, etc.

Jobe ahead of McPhearson?

Elliss fans: Assemble!

I just read a Michael Gallagher article on 4 2022 Playoff Teams Who Could Miss The Postseason in 2023.  He listed the Giants, Chargers, Dolphins, and Bucs.  I agree wholeheartedly with all.

Giants -- the entire NFCE will likely be 1-2 games below last season's win totals.  Can't see the Giants being any better than an 8-9 team this year

Chargers -- I forgot they even MADE the playoffs last season, after that epic bed-crapping playoff loss to the Jaguars last year

Dolphins -- they're one Tua concussion away from being not very good again

Bucs -- do they have any talent other than old talent?  Their division is up for grabs, but I see them more likely last than first.

McPhearson isn't making this team.
