He still has potential as a gunner on STs.  Using a PS spot on him isn’t a substantial investment, and really doesn’t block any other players they might really want.

Agreed. I think he's been awesome on STs in multiple roles. A guy like that is absolutely worth developing. It's a no brainer.

I think that's a fair take, and it's one that I agree with. He's there. He's okay. We could do better. We could do worse. It's just weird how so many fans want him gone yesterday and attribute all kind of misdeeds to him simply because they're angry about the Super Bowl.

"We could do better, we could do worse." That implies that he's a middle of the road punter, which most sites, say he's bottom 5 overall. Bottom of the barrell. On a Superbowl contender! Why defend that? And he choked in 2 different playoff games, most importantly. I know, I know, Siposs holds balls very gracefully. Do you see that perfect form?

Had a conversation with my dad yesterday, in the last 30 years any player acquisition by any of the four major sports in Philly I would argue he’s been the best out of all of them, besides Nick Foles because of what he did in the Super Bowl and winning a Super Bowl. But if Harper goes onto win a World Series, you could make the argument he would be the best pick up in the last 30 years of any Philadelphia sports team.

The other discussion we had was, what would it take for him to be a top three Phillies of all time. If he wins a World Series and another MVP I think you have to put him in there.

Top three would make sense if he does this for a few more years.  After Schmidt and Carlton, you have Roberts, Utley, Grover Alexander.

He's only had one great 'full' season in 2021.  His post-season heroics help, but it's only been one year.  For now, third place belongs to Utley.

Harper is definitely in that rare Dawkins level of popularity.

Moses Malone was no slouch

Yeah i think he’d have to likely win a WS and another MVP to get there. I’d make the argument for Howard being right there with chase but he had a much shorter time being great. And i love chase utley so I’m not going fight it.

Sadly Moses wasn’t in the last 30 years. We’d have to go back to 40+ years.  But he’s definitely up there if we do all time

Panthers waived Matt Corral interesting.

If he clears waivers I would absolutely bring him on the PS

Darren Waller is actually a great TE for Tyree Jackson to learn from.

@bbabraham why you mad, bro?

Ah, last 30 years .... I got thrown off by Schmidt and Carlton.

Malone is like Pete Rose to me.

He was a great player and the piece that put them over the top but he was only here for 4 years.

Malone is at the head of the Jayson Werth table.

The games take long enough as it is without carting him off the field for a twisted ankle.

I guess you can technically say Moses cause he was reacquired during the early 90s again but at that point was a shell of himself.

schmidt and Carlton i think we in response to my harper could wind up being a top 3 all time phillies if he can win a WS and another mvp

I will gladly wait if it means the Book is closed on Ian

I'd say it's a toss up between Parent and Carlton as the best acquisition in my lifetime.

What Harper has been doing defensively at first base is just amazing. What an athlete.

Yeah hard to beat either of those. Especially Bernie. Winning two cups and being as great as he was. He won back to back cups. Won back to back vezina and conn smythe trophies.

Why did we waive tyree Jackson and sign a random te for draft picks? Is he even any good ? Seems like a strange move

Equal holder, dominant place kicker on kickoffs and less shanks in key situations. And younger. I would take him anyway. Siposs has had 1 too many chances and needs to be exiled to CFL.

You keep saying less shanks.  Do you have any data to support that assertion, or are you simply bloviating.

Because the guy we got is better than Tyree Jackson

Yeah probably shouldn’t pitch to Ohtani with Risp and a base open. If drury beats me so be it. I live with it. Not letting Ohtani beat me.
