Maybe some of the older fans like JR or Franklin among us can clarify, but I believe RB was also an umbrella term for the group of half backs, full backs, tail backs, slot backs, swing backs, etc. Over the years, as offenses evolved, and the passing game made most of them obsolete, RB essentially became synonymous what was most closely associated with a half back.

I'm a bit late to this discussion but I think this was the post that broached the subject.

You all have a problem: you're not old enough. It takes a geezer like me to point out that the terminology you're wrestling with goes back to the single wing which, I confess, I even played, for one year. Here is the basic formation, with some caveats.

Single-wing formation

Note the unbalanced line. Note also that the quarterback is not under center. He is, in fact, a blocking back and almost never touches the ball. He is called the QUARTERback because he is a quarter of the way back to the deepest back, who is the FULLback. This graphic is not perfect because the player labelled here as the tailback normally lined up slightly ahead of the FULLback and because he was halfway back to the deepest back, was called the HALFback. The terminology in this graphic is modern, not the original terminology. The WINGback was lined up outside the end, on the wing. He too was primarily a blocker.

The scuttlebutt is that Indy wanted Jaylen Waddle in a Jonathan Taylor trade. 🤣

I don't understand why they haven't

I don’t think a GM or owner wants to risk tarnishing their reputation on a player accused of rape with a civil suit pending on a punter that has never played in a NFL game.

I think some people were also saying that punt god is a distance line drive guy and might not have the best hang time.

Christian Kirksey signs with bills PS

Actually liked McKenzie when he played for the bills

Evidence is in his favor

Also Lewis was accused of murder and played for 17 years

You keep saying less shanks.  Do you have any data to support that assertion, or are you simply bloviating.

Blow-Viating. Are you talking about Siposs?

Why did we waive tyree Jackson and sign a random te for draft picks? Is he even any good ? Seems like a strange move

From my understanding, he’s about to become the newest student at Stoutland University.

Spoiler

Ran a 4.4 40 but can’t block.

I don’t see what that has to do with anything. He still is in a civil suit over the allegations. Ray Lewis was already an established player and in a completely different era. That was 20+ years ago. This is a punter we are talking about.

The Silent Generation, also known as the "Lucky Few", is the cohort who came of age in the post–World War II era. They were born from 1928 to 1945.  In the U.S., this group includes most of those who may have fought the Korean War and many of those who may have fought during the Vietnam War.

The official who’s social media was filled with his family wearing Celtics stuff and being Celtics fans before calling games in the Celtics/sixers series
