I'm not talking about how the players prepare. I like the idea of joint practices for that purpose.  I just mean that not watching preseason does not make you miss anything.

Whatever 10 or so bullet point training camp and joint practice tweets are relevant can be repeated to people joining us today for the season in about 5 posts.

Agreed... it's pretty putrid football to watch. Makes you appreciate how important it is to have good QB play.

Why did we waive tyree Jackson and sign a random te for draft picks? Is he even any good ? Seems like a strange move

you talking Albert Ok?

Don't know exactly why.  But,  Tyree Jackson was and is a raw freakbeast with a ras of 9.83 as a TE.  But, again, raw.  Also college running QB but versatile.  The running QB thing was probably not something the Eagles cared about.

Albert Ok is younger,  was drafted in the 4th round by the Broncos,  was actually a TE in college, so less raw as a TE.  Albert Ok didn't do all the jumps and the 3 cone and all of that,  but he did do the 40.  We can't say Albert Ok is an all around freakbeast,  but we can say that Albert Ok is a bit shorter than Tyree,  but still tall,  6054 v 6070.  Heavier - 258 v 249.  And, and this might be the answer,  faster,  with a 4.49 vs 4.59.  If all of Albert Oks mystery numbers were as good as Tyree's,  Albert would have a higher overall ras.

Albert Ok is heavier and faster than Tyree, and has been catching a lot of TD passes since high school.  Tyree just recently started catching TD passes,  most of the time over the last 10 or so years, Tyree was throwing 60 yard bombs and running for long TDs.

Mullen appears to be more fit as a slot CB. Interesting to see that announced before and if Josiah Scott or Mekhi Garner are brought back.

A referee randomly announcing his retirement a few weeks before the season starts?  No doubt.

Marsh with the most obscure stat line today of 0-0 with 3 BB

Had a conversation with my dad yesterday, in the last 30 years any player acquisition ( trade or free agent) by any of the four major sports in Philly I would argue he’s been the best out of all of them, besides Nick Foles because of what he did in the Super Bowl and winning a Super Bowl. But if Harper goes onto win a World Series, you could make the argument he would be the best free agent/trade pick up in the last 30 years of any Philadelphia sports team.

The other discussion we had was, what would it take for him to be a top three Phillies of all time. If he wins a World Series and another MVP I think you have to put him in there.

I assume you mean free agent/trade type acquisitions.  30 years means post-'93.  T.O. had a chance when he came in '04, but fizzled out ridiculously quick.  Jon Runyan could get a nod to be in the discussion, perhaps not so much due to his specific contributions, but the symbol he was to a change in the way things worked around here.  Jim Thome would be a similar story for the Phillies.  The Thome signing was absolutely a change from the old way of doing things for the Phillies.

But, beyond them, I can't think of any player that would come close... on the outside, I suppose Malcolm Jenkins could get into the conversation, because of the Super Bowl.  But, I wouldn't put him there if it weren't for that one year.   Harper has been awesome, but winning it all really makes it.

The official who’s social media was filled with his family wearing Celtics stuff and being Celtics fans before calling games in the Celtics/sixers series

Seeing as Brown and Tatum use their off arm to push off and extend it EVERY drive....der!!

Yup, read up and watched him. Seeks contact and a slot guy. Alot of Chargers beats and fans wanted him to stick on the 53. Undrafted free agent from this April. Howie must have liked him then, as he's got the undrafted cornerback market cornered.

Pre-season is fine. The starters get most of their work done in joint practices... save the rest for when it counts. More time to evaluate the guys that they are on the fence on during the pre-season games.

That's pretty much my take on preseason games. Give the unproven/non-starters a look in a game situation. Nobody is forced to watch preseason games. If you want to see top grade play, this ain't it. Maybe the Phillies could manage to schedule a game during the Eagles preseason games🙂.

Brett Toth experience lives on.

They obviously love the guy but it's time to pull the plug.

Thought Maddox Williams would’ve been on it.

Covey and Siposs are the week 1 callups.

Guessing the 13 are their own...3 left for new players? Mullen one of them. I'm guessing a RB not named Trey Sermon and a DT.

in fairness if the sixers were smart they’d have made brown use his left hand to dribble every time since he practically can’t

Only 13 names on the list.  Room for 3 more.

Aren't they working out punters this week?

Remember back when Turner couldn't fall out of bed to hit the floor?

I haven't seen anyone report that. I've only seen speculation.

And he kept #10. That's the biggest sin of them all.
