I’m not sure he’s getting through 5 right now. At 48 pitches and not out of the second. This goes back to the Santana at bat in the first. Was cruising til that AB. Got ahead but he couldn’t put him away and this isn’t vintage Santana either. He’s been bad with the brewers this year and before that slightly better with the pirates. He’s had the same issue since that at bat.

At this point that’s basically our last hope to replace nola as the no. 2. Cause it’s likely not going to lorenzen, Walker or Sanchez 

 

I dont think a 7-0 first quarter is very impressive against West Virginia.

The hope for Nola exists... it may be fading, but he has the highest potential of any option for #2.

He has the potential, but we get Ranger Suárez back tomorrow and if for the next month, he looks like he did in June, I think you have to make the move with him as a two starter. He has more upside than ranger and walker, but i think he also has the factor of a snowball can become an avalanche much easier than those two. Those two might struggle but they find ways to fight. I think when nola struggles he just falls into it. Like the second inning. Gave up 1. It’s fine just get 1 more out with their bottom of the lineup. Instead he gives up two more.

yup. Brewers also a bad matchup for the Phillies. I’d argue with how peralta is pitching that they have the best trio of starters with burnes, woodruff and peralta in the NL. I know last night the brewers bullpen had issues in the 8th but their closer and setup guys have been really good this year. They remind me a lot of the early 2010s giants where the lineup had like 2-3 guys but starting pitching and pen carried them. At +850 to win the NL is not bad shot on them.

 Carlos Santana has been awful this year. What i said about snowball turning into an avalanche. Nola when things go wrong doesn’t have the same mentality Suarez does. He allows it to become worse. Suarez has had some implosions but usually he’s able to not let it explode into more.
