Byard is 30 years old right? Jenkins and McLeod were solid in to their 30s.

Now that they have Byard, Im guessing Howie can give him a 2 year extension with some additional void years. Keep him around till he is 32 and then likely  move on.

If Desai is as good as he looks, he can figure a way to get 3 safeties on the field and play Brown as he comes along.

5 yards plus auto 1st down is generally harsher than 10 yards and redo the down.

Having 3 good safeties is a good problem to have. Aside from injuries/depth, having 3 you can count on allows your defense to do a lot of matchup substitutions to counter modern NFL pass happy offenses.

Sydney Brown was a box safety in college. He was a missile in the run game and attacking slants.

Eagles really made them look soft last year. All that physical bully stuff went out the window when they ran up into some monsters. I expect the same this year especially with Byard in the mix. Made Debo look like a regular receiver

yes. And he looks like he can be more than that. And I dont want to see him type casted in to a complementary role player role. 

But if Byard is a 100+ tackle 5 INT guy, now that they gave up 2 draft picks, Id prefer to see him here longer than a half of a season. Of those games, a bunch will be him getting acclimated and not as effective as he can be. We likely see very little of his dominant self this season. I want to extract more value being that we wasted resources on a position that was already good enough.

It would be good for both Reed and Brown to have a veteran to lean on for a few years. If not I guess we eventually get comp picks back

Teams keep letting Purdy throw in-breakers. Driving me nuts. CBs playing outside leverage is crazy. Make Purdy throw across the field. He'll hit some, but he's way worse at it.

Howie is the gold standard.

I know Julio and Kevin are older but these guys have really made plays in their careers.  I believe they both will help us this season and contribute.  Also welcome Home Kevin. He was born in Philly.  I'm very pleased with Howie and these in-season type moves he does.
