As much as I want a blowout, I expect a close game from them, and McClaurin still concerns me.

Bonus: Let’s go big. Byard has a sack and Julio gets a TD.

I have no earthly idea how the PHLY Phillies crew is going to produce content 5 days a week for the next few months.

Probably talk about the nlcs disaster for about another 2 weeks. Then discuss what they can and should do. Some hypothetical trades they could do or guys that could be moved. Talk about players who are arbitration eligible. Then discuss who they sign and how they fit. Then discuss things like is Thomson the right guy for the job or if bohm is capable of taking the next step after his 2023 season. There’s probably enough to get them at least until January which is 2 months.

That's true.  My gut goes the other way.  Their best player going so public might light a fire under the others on the team to put in a top effort.  I just am always wary of divisional games.   They took us down on MNF last year when it seemed they had no shot in that game too.

Hot Take, but we’re better than last year IMO

We really did have a cakewalk schedule that we were lighting up, Miami is already a better team than we played all the way to the second game against Dallas. This D is better with Desai, we just need to settle in Brian Johnson and stop turning the ball over.

Weve been the better team in all 7 games. Jets got 4 turnovers off us and we still almost won anyway. Run the ball more, enough with the deflected passes, and we’re gonna beat just about anyone.

Derrick Burgess rule. Derrick Burgess was an old DE for us who went to the Raiders and led the league in sacks. But it doesn’t matter because he didn’t do that here. Once he’s off the team then that’s the finality.

I would have signed him back to be our slot instead of Julio.  He’s not going to do anything special, but he’d have a different set of expectations this time around and is well suited to the position.

Eagles are 9th in offensive DVOA, 10th in defensive DVOA and 4th in special teams DVOA. We're more balanced than last year, despite the injuries.

All it took was drafting from the SEC!

That's not all it took... thank the Bears, Atlanta, and... the TITANS!!!! We love you Tennessee.

Definitely didn't see the STs thing coming. Especially considering we didn't even have a punter on the active roster after the 53 man cut down :) Covey and Elliot have been amazing. Suddenly Covey has had more to run this year too so the blocking has been there as well.

meh, it wasn't his place to be outraged for the Jewish community, that would be virtue signaling. The surest sign of virtue signaling is when you are more upset about something than the community it directly effects. He had energy for "black" causes and didn't have the same energy for other causes, though he did say it was wrong. I don't have an issue with the difference, but I'll stop talking about it, since this is skirting the political line too much.

Would you have issue with me saying I had Jenkins fatigue because it’s not my place and that I lack the energy for Jenkins’ causes?

I am serene, but I expect us to come out on fire on both sides.  No lollygagging.

Seems ripe for a Philly fan takeover too with the Ls stacking up.

You're underrating what Burgess did here. He didn't start but he produced when he played. And he played great in the Championship Game win against the Falcons.

It was a situation where you can't keep everyone and you have to make your choices. I have no hard feelings about him at all. In fact I was happy that he was able to have some success elsewhere.

Feels like the defense is starting to hit it's stride even with the injuries. Desai has these guys playing good football. Nice to see the progress. I figured he would start doing more exotic looks and schemes as the year progressed. Now he has another toy with Byard. Now time for the offense to get healthier and start making more strides to dominate. When Cam comes back things should get interesting on that side of the ball again.

We are at the same PPG as last year despite the turnovers. Knock those off, and we will be rolling.

Without looking up stats, I recall Burgess (1st stint with us) as a very promising and disruptive DE who was rarely healthy.  He really shined in the playoffs in his last year with us along with that tiny LB from Dallas.  But the regular season stats were never really there until he left.

Reduce the turnovers and continue to get better in the red zone and it's really game over.

AJ Dillon is the one I've been thinking about. I wonder if he would look like 2020 AJ Dillon behind the Eagles line. You'd think he'd be relatively inexpensive

Howie went from drafting Marcus Smith, Derek Barnett, Andre Dilllard and Jalen Reagor in RD1 to Devonta Smith, Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter. What a glow-up.

Better scouting ... and possibly the difference between Doug and Nick.

And Malcom Jenkins epitomizes that with Jackson vs Brees.

The same Desean Jackson who posted a photo to social media of a highlighted quote that stated, "Hitler was right." That same Desean Jackson? You're agreeing with the notion that Malcolm Jenkins is worse than that guy?

No way we get Surtain, he's too costly. More likely we get someone on the younger side who's really performing from a team not doing well, and I know that sounds like Surtain, but someone who won't cost multiple 1s. Maybe Jaire Alexander? He's been injured but the Packers aren't going anywhere and we might be able to get him cheaper and he's 6 years younger than Slay.

Bold prediction.   Eagles-Washingteam games always seem to be close.

I agree.  Plus they will probably hold their water a bit in the game since next week is the Cowboys.
