I'm petitioning @mattwill to give me the 100 yards for both WR given the stupid WR play calling of Brian Johnson giving Smith 99 yards.

After further review, you would need a Tush Push to achieve that.

Totally spitballing but any chance the Vikes give up anything for Mariota?

Also we should just play Tampa 2 or Cover 3 every play. No one in our secondary can cover anyone

Did you see that Cunningham pass breakup… so nice. That’s about it. Credit Reed for the pick thrown at him - very CGJ-esque.

I kept waiting haha. That's fantastic.

Meanwhile he has a 3.0 yards per carry average. That along with the fumble should be enough

Brown was part of the problem IMO. I won’t kill him too much because he was out of position.

Awful by the Bengals. Red-zone fumbles on 1st down!

That’s a really disappointing answer by Sirianni. He doesn’t have bury Gainwell publicly, but cripes.

Didn’t get to see the game but good win for us. Washington always plays their best game against the Eagles. How did Byard play today?

Cincy should be up by 10 or 14... sloppy

Mahomes with another turnover - even the best turn the ball over

I definitely want more D’Andre Swift and less Kenny Gainwell in the red zone, but that’s the right answer from the coach

I just finished watching the game after recording it.  I never checked the blog, as I didn't want to ruin the score.  So I have no idea what the pulse was on this game or what everyone's thoughts were.  So I get to post my pure, unadulterated hot takes.  No idea if it will or won't jive with what everyone else saw.

Most importantly, the good:

1. A win on the road against a team we never play well.  We are at the point in the season, especially after taking it to Miami last week, that I'm not going to obsess over style points.

2. Great game from Hurts.  A couple throws that didn't put the ball in the right box, but that's really nit picking.  Great game.  Gave his WRs chances to make plays...speaking of which...

3. Elite game from the WRs.  They won this game because of an elite, unstoppable passing offense.  Not the tush push, not the running game, just precision passing and catching.

4. Underrated game from the OL against a top DL.  Tough sledding in the ground game, as expected, but really nice pass protection overall.  The run pass ratio was probably lopsided, but it was the right set of calls for this game.

The bad:

1.  The Blankenship INT should not distract from the fact that he was brutal in coverage today.

2. The fact that Blankenship was brutal/unreliable in coverage should not distract from the fact that our starting corners might be a problem.  I know last week was great, but that's an anomaly over 8 weeks this year.  I have zero faith in our secondary and that starts with Slay/Bradberry.  I know everyone will dismiss that and blame it on safety help and a lack of continuity, but these guys are playing poorly in their own right.  I don't trust them.

3.  Until proven otherwise, ball security is a problem for this offense.

4.  There is a blueprint for beating this defense and we see it every week.  The DL gets great push and the secondary can't cover.  Quick 3-step drops and quick releases will give any QB enough of a window to move the football up and down the field while neutralizing the DL.  It works and we see it almost every week.

While I have zero trust in our secondary, I think we always knew it was going to be that way against top QBs, just not a similar problem against mediocre ones too.  They are 7-1, the offense is heating up and the DL is disruptive, so they are where they need to be.

Kinda of invisible - which today seems good comparatively.

I think he has a penchant for always backing his players and staff to the hilt no matter what in his pressers. I mean by name. I can't recall any criticism even slightly, but I might be wrong.

Brutal luck foe him heading into FA.

The excuses made for Mahomes when something doesn't go right. Oh, he had a mysterious illness at the end of the week, etc. Cry me a river

As for Ross Tucker. He sounds like Joe Swanson from Family Guy

I think this would be a great rule change. If you are in the pocket and the ball is uncatchable then its grounding. period. stop. nothing else matters.

Get outside the tackle box and whatever.

The spirit of this rule gets violated like crazy with Brady throwing 80+ career passes at the back of RB shoes. Everyone does it now.

It feels like Purdy is going to do this 40 times a year.

I, just about at half time.

The big difference in the offense on the scoring drive was Hurts. He started the game inaccurate. Scoring drive, he was good.

D needs to make some plays.

It would be one thing if Gainwell was being productive and showed signs of getting better as the season has wore on but he’s gotten worse. he has a 3 yards per carry average. That’s absolutely abysmal. You are telling me that penny and Scott couldn’t give you those type of runs if that’s what you’re going to get? And he’s going to fumble the ball. He had a fumble in the first commanders game and was fortunate that didn’t get recovered by the commanders. If penny is that shot and gainwell is this unproductive with his touches, go bring in fournette, mckissic or Drake. I can’t imagine any of them can’t given you a 3.0 yards per carry average or be better then what they think of penny

Any word on Carter and Davis? We NEED them for Dallas.

I disagree… It doesn’t mean he’s happy with Gainwell.  Calling him out in the media does nothing to help him.
