Pretty interesting the league viewed Sweat and Young as being about 60 picks apart in value. As dumb as Ryan Poles is, I wonder if something else is going on here because half the league should've made the Young trade.

I don't know but I think we could really use this first one in any case.  I'm thinking each week will present a new scenario and it depends on health, etc.

MUST take the Dallass game.  Absolute must. The difference is huge.  The Niners hurt themselves.  Seattle has tough sledding.  The difference of playing Dallas in Dallas with a W in the pocket is huge.

Only thing I'm disappointed in is that Barnett is still around.

I knew the 76ers trading Harden and Eagles trading Barnett on the same day was too good to be true.

Good points I'd like to see Nolan Smith get more PT. Would be nice to know more about him than we knew about Dean after last season

I think people are sleeping on the fact that Byard played days after being traded for. Safety really needs to know the plays. It's going to get a lot better for him

He finds out he's traded, has to make moving arrangements, flies to Philly, meets coaches & players, gets a playbook, has 1 practice that's just a walkthrough without pads, travels to a road game and gets thrown in to play 100% of snaps.

Fans that are critical of him probably slack off at work and blame the mildest of inconveniences on their performance.

Let's see after a full week of actual practice, then after the bye.

I wonder if that means if he doesn't hit the 6 games we just get a 2024 7th and don't send anything else. If he does, we get a 2024 6th and send a 2025 7th.

I agree.  We will see how things go after the bye.

Trying to make sure eagles suffer in any way they can

Yeah, I kind of get tired of the "dO sOmEtHiNg HoWiE!!!" crowd. He already made the trade for Byard. That will probably take a few weeks for him to get settled. They just simply neglected linebacker coming into the season and put too much weight on Dean to help give that group a spur. He's not working out and even though Morrow and Cunningham have had some bright spots, it's an overall negative position for them that can't really be saved this season. It sucks, but every team is going to have a weakness. And as Zach mentioned in the post above, they need cost-controlled options in the draft to help fill out the roster with Hurts' deal and the impending Dickerson and DeVonta extensions. SF has the luxury of having a QB on a Mr. Irrelevant contract. That allows them to spend elsewhere.

The niners really don’t have the luxury going forward. Aiyuk, greenlaw, Armstead, Hufanga and ward are all FAs at the end of 2024 and that’s exactly when purdy is due a new contract or they have to stockpile picks or sign a Qb. They did it cause if young plays well and walks they basically recoup the comp but a year later and his contract is cheap for half a season.

Young has played well this year but has never broken 7.5 sacks in his career and is on an expiring deal and will want to get paid.  3.5 of his 5 sacks this year were vs Giants & Denver

Reminder.

Howie's recent trade history in October. He's never made a trade on the last day of the deadline.  This year is the first time he's made 2 trades in October.

2023: traded for Safety Kevin Byard, 7 days before the deadline.  Traded DT Kentavius Street in a pick swap 1 day before the deadline.

2022: traded a 4th for DE Robert Quinn, 5 days before the deadline

2021: traded QB Joe Flacco to the Jets for a conditional 6th round pick, 7 days before the deadline

2020:  no trades

2019: traded for DE/LB Genard Avery for a 4th round pick, 3 days before the deadline.

2018: traded a 3rd for WR Golden Tate, 2 days before the deadline.

2017: traded a 4th for RB Jay Ajayi, 1 day before the deadline.

2016:  no trades

2015: Chip, no trades (in September, he traded QB Matt Barkley for a 7th round pick)

2014: no trades

I hate Young to SF.

There are lots of players I’d have like Howie to be calling on.  But absolutely no one moved that I thought we should have outbid.

My guess is due to Young not being able to stay healthy except for this year.

Why? You made allegations that he didn't cover anyone and any tackles were 5-10 yards downfield. A quick peek suggests otherwise. Feel free to list his errors. I'm not suggesting for a moment he didn't make any, just that he wasn't the disaster you're making him out to be.

So after re watching a bit more of the game I was prematurely harsh on Dean

I still think he needs work In coverage but he wasn't as bad as I initially thought.

Yup.  Teams unblock Howie’s number in October.

It's time to move on from the trade deadline and focus on the next issue on the annual Eagles calendar.

Eagles should put in a claim for Josh Gordon.

I heard he’s been working out.

I rarely agree with @just relax, but I did/do on this one.

But don’t just cave like that.  Dig in and start with the insults like a real online man.

He should start playing faster when he gets more experience and stops thinking

Curious what Smith's agent will ask for. He hasn't been dominate this year but he's vital to the offense

Is this you, @Utebird

Howie has NEVER made a trade on the last day of deadline.  Most of his trades have been 5 or 6 days before the deadline.  Most of his October trades haven't even been good (Quinn, Avery, Tate).  The Ajayi trade was good.  Some years he made no trades at all.

The Byard trade.  That's the trade. A veteran starting safety.  That's a great trade!

He traded for Ajayi on the deadline

The Eagles list of transactions on their website has it on Monday the 30th, the deadline was Tuesday the 31st.
