Nolan Smith will get going.  He has really high football character and elite athletic ability.  He should start seeing some more playing time and production as the season goes on

Hopefully, I think he's playing something like 7% of the snaps and Barnett is playing 20%

I'd switch those two.

With no more Dan Snyder, look at this. If Sam Howell is the real deal for them, you wonder if they make a splash trade to get him a WR1 a la Marvin Harrison Jr...sorry, Masssaraaatttiii Marv.

Free agents about to get Paid! The Process has been imported from the Sixers to the Commanders.  Who is gonna coach this future dream team?  And get ready for endless stories of their return to Super Bowl glory.

Jalen Hurts was fantastic on Sunday. Reminds me of when Donovan started to mature from a running QB to a QB who uses his legs when he needs to. For Jalen to be the most successful he can be, I think they need to cool it with the called QB run plays and let him be a pocket passer. He's been tremendous from the pocket.

We’re so lucky to have him. I didn’t believe in him at first, but he’s easy to root for and elite?

My money is on George Allen or Joe Gibbs.

I think it's time to change Peter Principle to Josh McDaniels Principle.

See, Desmond Ridder might have been a real prospect; doubtful, but possible.  Heinicke is garbage and has proven to be garbage for quite awhile.

Even in that bad division, it’s hard to figure Heinicke will lead a playoff push

Last year Jordan Davis played 20% of snaps the entire year, his early season snap count was even lower.  They bring rookies along slowly.  But so far this year Nolan has played only 47 snaps or 9.31%  Sidney Brown as a 3rd round pick at a position with injury has played 102 snaps or 20.2%, necessary because of injury.  Jalen Carter this year has played 39.6% of snaps.  There was a game Cox was out and now Carter has been out so injury affects those numbers but you still see rookies being developed and not thrown in as much.

IF...big IF, as you alluded to, they did hit on two of those picks though, they come at a much lower price tag...at least for 4-5 years...money to use elsewhere on proven FA talent.

Welcome to the Blog!

Doesn't sound like anything is going to change based on Sirianni's presser. No snap increase for Nolan Smith, no change in role for Gainwell.

Eagles 26 - Cowboys 17.

Swift 120+ Total Offense

Reddick 2 Sacks
Byard INT

Eagles don't have 90 million in space but their pics aren't too different outside of extra 5ths vs two 3rds.

Curious what they do vs what they say.  Last year Sanders disappeared after some fumbles.  He always says he has confidence in players to the media, he's said that about Quez, Driscoll, in the past Reagor and JJAW.  We'll see what happens.

The concern in the offseason was Swift and Penny having injury history and so far Swift is playing 60% of snaps, Gainwell 35.6% and of course Penny has only had 9 snaps.  They need to keep feeding Swift especially in the red zone.

Why would he give either of those away in a press conference if there was going to be a change? Their press conferences are information-less. It's a waste of time.

You can usually tell based on how he speaks if he's evading or if he means what he says. If he was down on Barnett or Gainwell usually he'll say something like "We like Gainwell and we have confidence in him, but we'll see what happens going forward." Today felt like the telling the truth Sirianni, but we'll see.

Eagles have actually traded a lot of picks in 2024 from 3rd round to 7th.  The only picks that are their own original are their 1st and 2nd. The rest:

  • 2nd: from the Saints
  • 3rd: projected comp pick
  • 5th: conditional from Vikings or Bucs, whichever is lower
  • 5th: projected comp
  • 5th: projected comp
  • 5th: projected comp
  • 6th: conditional pick from Falcons

I think the bone bruise has been a blessing in disguise for him. Johnson seems to be calling less of the QB draws and Jalen is staying in the pocket more making quicker reads. The strike he threw to Julio in the red zone was a great ball. Quick, decisive, and threaded it up high between two defenders where only Julio can go up and get it. Same thing with the one-handed TD to AJ. Just throw it up to these guys and let them do their thing. There is no 50/50 ball with AJ. It's more 70/30 in his favor.

I wonder if that's what the sideline discussion between him and Hurts was week 2. AJ keeps saying it wasn't about number of targets, so I wonder if Hurts was just more hesitant to throw it before and AJ basically just said "look, just throw it and I'll get it".

What's funny is Siri actually does reveal strategy sometimes.  I think he talks too much.  He needs to learn from Reid, Hurts and others who give boring answers to the media.  This season he's revealed in advance that he had wrinkles planned for the brotherly shove play for example.

Where did their 2nd round pick go from this year? They still have it, right? That's still a lot of picks.

Why did it take so long for him to lose his job?  Raiders have been hot garbage the entire time he was there.

That wasn't a revelation.  They showed that they had wrinkles off the play last year and even tried a wrinkle very early this year, but it was blown dead for some reason, IIRC.   That's not a revelation, that's stating something that was obvious already just making it more obvious.
