Where did their 2nd round pick go from this year? They still have it, right? That's still a lot of picks.

Eagles have actually traded a lot of picks in 2024 from 3rd round to 7th.  The only picks that are their own original are their 1st and 2nd. The rest:

  • 2nd: from the Saints
  • 3rd: projected comp pick
  • 5th: conditional from Vikings or Bucs, whichever is lower
  • 5th: projected comp
  • 5th: projected comp
  • 5th: projected comp
  • 6th: conditional pick from Falcons

The Peter Principle states that they don't get fired, they just remain in the place of their incompetence.

Davis is stupid.

I used to think Doug's PC's were pretty pointless but there would be some crumbs here and there.

Nick's are beyond pointless.

That wasn't a revelation.  They showed that they had wrinkles off the play last year and even tried a wrinkle very early this year, but it was blown dead for some reason, IIRC.   That's not a revelation, that's stating something that was obvious already just making it more obvious.

Yeah they ran a couple different looks off it last year, including a toss that went for a 1st (similar to the sweep the other day).  My point is, he discussed strategy about plays he intends to run, regardless of whether he ran them previously or not.  The play has got a lot more attention this year.  He's become cocky about it, shouting in the camera challenging to stop it, and now that it's got more media attention he said a couple times this year that he plans different looks off it. I don't remember the specifics but there have been a couple other times in press conferences this year where he's stopped himself and said he's giving away too much strategy so even he acknowledged that.

I don't think I ever appreciated Andy's enough in light of this.

Fingers crossed Colangelo has a sudden taste for the NFL

I'm hoping Goodell gets more involved and makes them hire Gruden or McDaniels.

Until Nolan Smith actually uses his hands as an edge rusher, he shouldn't play. He's all body.

NFL coaches have adopted an "us vs them" mentality when conversing with the media.  It started with AR and Belichik, but it has been wildfire with the new generation.  The more condescending and tight-lipped they are, the more intelligent they perceive themselves to be.  Just look at Mike Mcdaniels.

I'm not sure what your point is.  Howie's transactions have effectively upgraded their own 3rd to the Saints 2nd, their own 4th to a comp pick 3rd, their own 5th to the Vikings or Bucs 5th, their own 6th to a double dip of comp pick 5ths, and their own 7th to the Falcons 6th.

Jalen Hurts was fantastic on Sunday. Reminds me of when Donovan started to mature from a running QB to a QB who uses his legs when he needs to. For Jalen to be the most successful he can be, I think they need to cool it with the called QB run plays and let him be a pocket passer. He's been tremendous from the pocket.

When he actually stays in the pocket, that is. Because he still shows an annoying tendency to retreat and roll to his right the instant he sees a flash of color anywhere nearby. He's bailed out of secure pockets countless times over the years. I suspect it drives Lane nuts.

I'll never get over the feeling that Mike McDaniels looks like a perennial RadioShack employee of the month.

It's probably give and take with Lane. I know he has his deal where he hasn't given up a sack since like 2020, but there have been mulitple times where he's been beaten and Hurts bails him out making a play with his legs.

One of the more interesting answers that Hurts gave in his press conference after Miami, and Hurts never gives anything in those other than the typical platitude, is that he went out of his way to say that he's just as likely to get banged up in the pocket as he is running. He's clearly aware of the running quarterback stigma and wants to defend it. Josh Allen has a similar mindset with it too. Hurts can excel from the pocket, but that kind of tells me that he's never going to fully turn into that type of quarterback. Which is probably a good thing with him because the threat of him running is still important. I just thought it was interesting how he never says anything in those interviews, but was pretty staunch in defending it. And he isn't necessarily wrong.

Wasn't making any point.  He noted our picks were similar to Washington's, so I posted ours to see what they are.

It is interesting that only 2 of them are their own, the rest are from trades and comp picks.  I think they are in good shape with picks, and Howie will make further trades to move around as usual.

Would be nice to see him get more reps in live games though. Practice you can only do so much during the season.

DeMarcus Lawrence is playing elite level run defense right now. Something to monitor.

Anything Barnett can do, BG can do better - even run defense... they then can invest some of those BG snaps where he's in a 2pt to Nolan.

Hurts walked out on his PC today because someone asked about his knee. It was a weird scene.
