Maybe that energizes the team

They need something.  Playing like they are in a malaise.    They need to come out in the Kelly Greens to get the crowd hyped up again.

Has Jake Elliott ever missed his longest kick attempt in a particular game?  I feel like every miss he’s had in a game came in a game in which he’s made much bigger kick.

Random observation.

Problem is teams had months to watch film and figure out a way to stop him. Now he sucks again

He’s just not seeing the field well at all. I think part of that is play design and part of that is on him.

Wow the 975 afternoon show asked 3 weeks ago who was going to be the eagles mvp. They trolled them and all voted for Jake elliott. So far he is.

Once upon a time... a long time ago, the League MVP was a kicker.   For real.  Look it up.   And it was a straight on kicker too!!!

Dude made such a clutch kick in the SB as a rookie, he always been a stud.

2023 All Pro Jake Elliott

This looks like the jets with Zach Wilson this looks like the cardinals last year with colt mccoy lmao

Starting to think Elliot may surpass Akers

I keep saying this, but with all the brilliant offensive coaches in the league....Johnson? He could have stayed there as the QB coach helping Hurts and someone with some innovation could have come in.

Doing just enough good things to win this year. Timely and clutch plays on dee & special teams. With Swift, we now have stepped it up a lil and have a running game. Said earlier to pound the rock. Think they figure this all out before the year ends. Too much talent not to. This is a work in progress. Doing a good job overcoming in game injuries and adversity. With a solid 2nd half, I'll be pretty elated with a 2-0 start, all things considered.

How's that possible with a new coordinator? Just using the exact same plays from last year?? How f'n lazy is that!

Feels like a discussion we had back in 2019 and 2020 with Doug. The issue a lot of people had was when you go back and watch the tape it was all a bunch of things that defensive coordinators and defenses figured out. Granted there a whole bunch of other issues too. That wasn’t the only thing. But that was something repeatedly mentioned with all 22 that we were talk about throughout both of those seasons.

I’m curious if Penny might see some action in the second half if we get into clock killing mode.

That's when I knew he was better than Akers. Capping off that amazing season from him with that Giants game winner week 2.

I brought this up earlier for whatever reason the Eagles when their quarterback has like an MVP type year the previous year the following year they just don’t get back to that point. I’m hoping that’s not the case with Hurts and he starts looking better as the season continues. But Nick Foles had the 27 and two year the following year before he got knocked out with the collarbone he was 10 tds and 6 ints. Wentz just never looked like 2017 version in 2018. He really didn’t ever again and close was the end of the 2019 season. Could even say vick in 2010 then 2011 wasn’t the same. And through 6 quarters looks like that trend is continuing.

I blame the NFL players top 100.  #3 seems to be a cursed spot, at least for the Eagles.

Run-Pass ratio in the 2nd half should be 75-25%

Do we even have an old school play action play to bomb it out off of 9 straight runs?

Remember, it’s Sirianni’s offense, but Johnson is calling the plays. Either the offense hs been sniffed out, or Johnson just doesn’t have the feel or timing for it right now. Maybe it’s both.

I was calling for that a while ago.   He's the 'closer'.

Thoughts on the first half, assuming @HazletonEagle is ready for posts (yeah, I am not waiting until 6 am tomorrow):

We got to see Hurts smile on an Amazon commercial.

Travis Kelce, and to a lesser extent Jason, are making bank on endorsements. Better than Fitzmagic.  Plus Travis is possibly going to get to date Taylor Swift.  Damn.

Good to see Johnson calling running plays.  Vikings are susceptible to the run.  That will open up the pass and slow down the blitz.  Folks give Boston Scott a lot of grief.  Again, he proves them wrong.  On a Hurts sack, Scott was sent on a wheel route that was a check down.  That sucker would have gone big.  Watch for it in the second half.

Goodrich isn’t quite ready for prime time.  More Brown please.

IMO, he already has.

I think it’s mostly Johnson. Some of the situational calls are laughably bad.

Hurts is struggling, but they are not putting him in position to succeed.

But Elliott doesn't have a cool song and a Karate bow.

If we can’t get 5 sacks this half. We lose

We haven’t been blitzed as relentlessly as I expected, but we can’t really beat soft zones or blitzes, so I guess we hope for soft zones and run at it.

definately not where we want the offense to be but lets give them time here.  Hopefully things start to open up a little.

It's a combination of everything. The play calling hasn't been good, but even not ideal plays can work if they're executed properly. Sirianni constructs the game plan. The game plans coming into both games have not worked. That is on Sirianni. The players haven't executed them and BJ hasn't put them in the best positions.
