I don't think he's officially retired.

Unless there's something more recent that I'm not seeing?

Keep in mind it's Florio, but:

But Ryan’s refusal to call it a retirement could be less about football and more about finance. If he does announce he’s done playing in the NFL, it potentially jeopardizes the $12 million he’ll make to not play for the Colts in 2023, per Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio

When Indianapolis traded for Ryan last offseason, the franchise was aware he’d be owed $12 million this year. But in order to avoid having to pay Ryan an additional $17 million, the Colts cut him in March. But the payday comes with a catch for Ryan. In order to cash in on that $12 million, he has to technically seek NFL employment. So if he did announce his retirement, Indianapolis could have a case to not pay him.

The injury updates from Doug used to bug the hell out of me because he'd say something like "it's looking really good" for a bunch of guys to play -- then none of them would be suited up at game time.  Always made me wonder if the medical staff was that bad, Doug didn't know what was going on inside the complex, or if it was an Eagles thing to snowjob the media on injuries.

We may get an indication next Monday night.

I dont know. Foles gets rid of the ball quick. Hes a short passer specialist.

Have you watched Foles when he's not an Eagle (even when he was an Eagle)? He takes a ton of hits as a 🗽 back there and doesn't last long. I admire him for his willingness to stand in there but he gets punished. That doesn't improve with age.

I’m guessing the Vikings would be likely asking for a first knowing the desperation of the jets and that they are in win now mode. I think the jets try to get creative and be like our first for Vikings second and jets give a 3rd as well. Vikings are going to be worse if they deal cousins. And if the jets actually believe cousins can at least get them to a divisional round game with a chance to win then that pick is mid 20s or worse. Hypothetically say it falls at 24. Vikings second with hoe bad they could be may be 35-40 range. Granted it could blow up in the jets face if cousins fails cause Vikings definitely arent going to be decent if cousins is gone. The backup is nick mullens. I say this cause i can see Joe douglas thinking he’s on the hot seat so needs to make the move to try and save his job.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t the Jets picks in 2024 (1st and 2nd) locked up in the Packers trade for Rodgers?  I mean, we all know that it will be a 2nd now because of the Rodgers injury, but I still think they are untradeable picks at this time.

My gut says Avonte plays games for us this year. Back in January.

Poor guy isn't going to have any toes or pecs when he gets older at the rate he's going. At some point you just have to hang it up right?

I always lean on the side of misinformation when it comes to injury updates regarding timelines.   Just go by the official designations, the league tracks those to keep them more on the up and up.  I think Probable means 75% likelihood to play, Questionable means 50% likelihood to play, Doubtful means 25% likelihood to play, and Out of course means 0%.  Anything the team says beyond that is meaningless, or more exactly could be sandbagging, wishcasting or misdirecting.

22nd in Punt Average for Sip

and 22nd in Net Average

image.thumb.png.aaaec76c9d4d9ebc7c7d53cf90551d2c.png

Given the nature (field position) of Thursday's four punts that ranking really isn't terribly meaningful.  However, with that said, both of Siposs' first two punts were "air it out" opportunities, and could have gone for 10 more yards each from 44 to 54 and from 40 to 50 ... as long as they also got some additional hang time so that the gunner wasn't 10 yards away from the returner rather than right on top of the returner.

  • As it was, the 40 yard first punt was returned by the Viking for 20 yards.  I'll be interested to hear from @FranklinFldEBUpper what the hang time on that punt was.
  • The 44 yard second punt was the one where Sydney Brown was right on top of the returner, who let the punt bounce and Brown downed it.  Again, the hang time from @FranklinFldEBUpper will be interesting to know.
  • The third 35 yard punt was from a LOS of the Vikings' 49 yard line. It would have been nice to have been inside the 10 rather than fair caught at the 14, but the result of the 14 was not a bad one, certainly better than a touchback.  The 35 yard gross of that punt didn't help either the Gross average or the Net average, even though it was a good punt.
  • The 31 yard fourth punt was again from inside Vikings territory.  The hang time was good enough that Kelee Ringo was right on top of the returner, who still tried to make a return and was smothered immediately.  Good outcome.  Here too the 31 yard gross of that punt didn't help either the Gross average or the Net average, even though it was a good punt.

They could go all NBA and make conditions on the conditions.

Only the 2nd. Rodgers had to play 65% of the snaps for it to be a first so it’s automatically a second with the injuries. He’s out til January playoff game at the earliest. so there’s no way he gets to 65%. Even if he wins 4 playoff games he’d still be close to 1/4th of the snaps on the year.

Which is why measuring by the aggregate is meaningless for punters, context matters.

They can trade a later pick with conditions that upgrade it to a higher pick if it comes available.

Because we play Monday, the first official injury report isn't until Thursday.

Further, they've removed Probably as a designation a while ago.  Turns out almost all of them ended up playing.  Also...

The NFL also has changed the meaning of "questionable” and "doubtful"; previously, the "questionable” category reflected a 50-50 likelihood of playing, and "doubtful” meant a 75-percent chance the player wouldn’t play. Now, "questionable” simply means that "it is uncertain as to whether the player will play in the game,” and "doubtful” means that "it is unlikely the player will participate.”

Thinking they love Mann as a kickoff specialist. Elite touchback percentage in 2021 at 90.9%. Elliott has 63% career average. As well, would save Elliott's foot about 90 kicks a year. This guy has the talent to be a top punter, while Siposs was capped on potential and 5 years older. Has the leg to flip field regularly. Glad they finally gave someone else a chance here.

Interesting.   We'll see if Mann can be the level of holder that Siposs was.  That 61 yarder was 75% Lovato, 75% Siposs and 100% Elliott.  (oh, and 32% Sirianni for going for that kick... and 56% Hurts for that last run.)

That troll was brought to you by the National Football League.   Teams love doing that stuff on the national stage... so putting the Eagles-Bucs game on MNF just seals the deal.  If it was just some random 1PM start, they might have gone with a different option.

That technically correct, but they could make a quick call to the packers to alleviate it

One open spot on the practice Squad, as well as the impending move of Avonte to IR.
