Y'all already beat up on Justin Fields?  Not Eagles, but that dude had a terrible game yesterday.  Terrible INT on a screen pass in the end zone.

Bears were the media darling, saying "Fields would make a Hurts type leap" this year because they traded for a WR.  Yeah, that's not happening.

I thought he was going to suck day 1

What's up with Chandler Jones?

Barnett for Jones straight up

Siposs was punting fine and Elliott was hitting insanely long field goals. Odd time to make a change.

That said, of Siposs is just gonna choke in the playoffs again, none of that matters.

I don't know if you noticed that Siposs gave the Vikings a returnable punt with 12 seconds left..  He literally choked under pressure again.  Had to go. Beyond that he punted below average anyway.  He's just lowered the bar so much you don't notice

Is our new punter any good ?

He's no Punt God. I'm hoping they're just biding time until his civil suit is over.

He was a good college punter. In the pros he's been slightly better than Siposs. Not the greatest but an upgrade

The best in the League.  He was just waiting for the right situation.

Reminds me of Colts with Luck

We're lucky that this team knows the importance of an Oline

Colts with Luck... but it could turn into a Texans with Carr situation.

Ah, so that is what the P is for on that hat

I wonder if Howie does anything on the Slot cb now that Maddox is pretty much done for the season. I hope he's proactive and not reactive like last year where he added Suh and Joseph after the commies loss where they ran all over us.

One of my draft crushes was Clark Phillips out of Utah. Would love to have a guy like that to plug in and get some experience.

Baker just signed a new deal in AZ didn't he?

I want Patrick Queen much more than I want Budda Baker, but I don't think the Ravens would make him available.

Why do you want a 3-4 LB  to insert into our 4-3 sceme.  We have tried that twice and both times it was trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

Also

I'm sure that had to be called offsides.   Brutal.  Should have been blown dead.

Also... I like the idea of using the same formation 3 times in a row... but that third play should absolutely be a counter to the previous 2 and you try to bait them into thinking its the same play again.

I don't think they will do much unless they get hit with more injuries. They started the season carrying 7 CBs, they have to have more than 2 that can play the slot. Bradberry played a bit of the slot week 1 and was reported he was cross training there in camp. Goodrich or Ricks can play there, as both saw some playing time there week 2. Evans played a little slot, Sydney Brown may be able to play there some. I don't think they have a player that will 100% play it, I feel it will be more by committee depending on the weekly match ups and what the other team is trying to do.

I made that same suggestion last week.  Seems like a classic Howie move.

Wondering if we make a run at Chris Harris Jr..  Think he's ring hunting

Well.. timing wise, Washington was the first game after the Jordan Davis injury.   And sometimes these deals take a little time to work through.

@just relax  in rewatching the condensed game, I was focusing on the OL.  Will do the same with the coaches film.  My initial take was Lane doesn’t seem to have his core strength back yet.  @HazletonEagle may have some insight on recovery of core strength after abductor surgery. I thought Jurgens was struggling at first but when they started running the ball, his strength started to stand out.  Mailata and Dickerson in the run game is a thing of beauty.  There is a reason, besides a QB that squats 600, as to why the sneak is so effective on the left side of the ball. (Complaints that Hurts is pushed in are ridiculous.  He does that with let strength.). Dickerson still makes a mistake or two each game.  He pushed the player that Mailata had engaged into Hurts for the sack.  Now I don’t think Hurts escapes being sacked because the spying LB was coming in the gap created by Dickerson turning to try and help Mailata. Curious on your take.  Take a look at the Vikings RT if you would.  Seemed to control Reddick all game.

Jurgens was up and down. He was strong in pass pro and his drive blocking and combo blocks were sound but there was a play when he pulled that he was late. I single it out because it could have been a huge play and it's perhaps unfair because he was fine on the other 76 snaps, just not this one. It's a counter-trey that Hurts might have scored on if he makes his block:

Jurgens and Lane pull to the left. Mailata and Dickerson wall off the Vikings DL. The only guy in a position to make a tackle is #58. That's Jurgens' block.

As you can see below, #58 is already by him and Hurts has no chance.

Two yard loss.

If Jurgens makes this block, Hurts has Goedert and Lane in front of him and twenty yards to the nearest defender. But...

He's late. #58 is by him.

who makes the tackle. It looks like the DT was coming into position to make the tackle if #58 did not but...

Lane obliterates him. The outside corner is too wide to make the stop and Goedert has the safety lined up. Woulda coulda shoulda.

As I said, 77 snaps and I had to pick this one. The other 76, solid. Strong in one-on-one pass pro. Anchored really well.
