LB makes sense, RB and TE is interesting unless it's just to update the rolodex

Interesting to see all the work outs…kind of makes sense.  1 week in is too soon to change the roster you took to the dance.  2 weeks in, GMs are ready to make some tweaks.

If Dawkins truly wanted to remain an Eagle, he shouldn't have gotten on the plane to Denver. Nor should he have made the determination that doing so meant that he was somehow obligated to sign with them. He could have visited the Broncos and said thank you for your consideration but I'm going to stay with the Eagles.

I'm way more pissed at Dawk in this than I am Banner.

What about being pissed at neither?

For most issues, I side with the fans first, the teams second, and the players last.

Dawkins didn’t owe the fans or the team anything.  He didn’t hold out, didn’t demand a trade, wasn’t a distraction.  He had one last chance in his life to make more money and took it.  He had every right to do so.

And guess what?  For all the Banner hate and the purely name recognition single pro bowl he went to, Dawkins wasn’t very good in Denver.  He got paid more than he was worth.

I’m always pissed at everyone and I’m not mad at anyone over the Dawk situation.

This is a business with a short period to capitalize on ones talent. I'll never be pissed at a man who's looking to maximize his value to provide for his family. Inflation is real and so are the taxes that took damn near 1/2 of these folks paychecks. Getting more compensation for wrecking his body and quality of life post the game is more than reasonable.

So for everybody that was talking about Rashad Penny and why he didn't get to play more...

Check out this part of this video. Kind of was exactly what I was thinking when I saw that play. Less technical though since I'm obviously nowhere near as knowledgeable. But he basically lays into Penny for that block attempt failure.

Penny looks just about washed. I don’t see him on the roster for long. He’ll be inactive again when Gainwell and Scott are playing, I wouldn’t be surprised if he asks for a release.

I see a BS call... the dude tripped over his own man while Penny was engaging.

Bryce Harper is ridiculously good and clutch. Eagles trail the falcons 7-3

I don't know about that just because he missed a block that looked worse than it was because his own guy tripped him up. We need the RB depth the way these dudes get nicked up. We were down to 2 RBs in the last game.

There we go! This is the smart move. Next, make it operate like NFL Europe did.

Well... that didn't exactly work great, hopefully they find a way to make it operate better than NFL Europe did.

What twitter are you looking at?

Whatever the algorithm tells them to send.  I follow three individuals in my family.  Everyone and thing else that I follow is sports related to specific teams but X sends me plenty of the stuff he is complaining about.  Because my daughter follows what is deemed progressive by X (really leaning towards urban planning with a transportation focus - think public transit, pedestrian ways, bicycle pathways and how to control congestion) and some of the Beats follow progressive political things, X has determined I need that in my feed.  Because I have read some archeological, science and history random tweets I receive, I get more of those.  (Apple News knows those are passions of mine and feeds me those too.) I have read some of the motions and findings from some of the political crap X bombards me with but that’s because I like the law.  How come X doesn’t bombard me with appellate briefs and findings?  Must not fit the algorithms.  So I feel his pain. But I avoid comments and threads with a passion.

I do have a dedicated Eagles feed that is about 70% Eagles.  That’s where I spend most of my Twitter time.

Of course, if Musk tries to charge me, I am gone.  Free speech advocate, my ass.

Right, but take some of the same concepts. The next step should be the NFL purchases the league and makes it a developmental league. IMO, it makes all the sense in the world.

-NFL D-League could become a test bed for new rules, technology and games to make the game better before going live on Sundays in the Fall.

-Players who might not get a chance during TC and pre-season can get real tape and game experience out there.

-They can eliminate the Rooney Rule and have minority coaches get real life Head Coaching experience.  Minority owners might be more prone to buy an NFL D-League team and that gets them on track to maybe become and NFL team owner.

-The NFL D-League could put a team in Mexico, they could try a few in Europe.

-Non-NFL cities would continue to get the NFL brand.

Do you use the BGN Eagles feed? Are there others?

No convo on dirty players, no matter how brief, should pass Conrad Dobler without mention.

Conrad Dobler (offensive lineman -- St. Louis Cardinals, New Orleans Saints and Buffalo Bills, 1972-1981)
Once made SI's cover as the dirtiest player in pro football. "I see defensive linemen jump to knock a pass down," he said after he retired. "When that happened near me, I'd smack 'em in the solar plexus, and that got their hands down real quick. It's as if nobody wants to see anybody else get injured." Dobler didn't care who got hurt. He punched Mean Joe Greene, he kicked Merlin Olsen in the head, he bit, he gouged, and once, he spit on a downed and injured opponent, the Eagles' Bill Bradley.

Did somebody say "Bill Bradley"?

Bordering?😧

Well, I was trying to be polite and looking at it from the perspective of when he played.  We adopted the Deacon Jones headslap when I was in high school and lead with the crown of our helmet so avoiding looking at Butkus from a perspective of today seems only fair.  Bet you saw some head slaps when you played.  I wanted to be Jack Tatum, to put it in perspective. (BTW,  we were taught to keep our eyes up as we tackled yet told the crown of the helmet offered the best protection.  Bit of an oxymoron. They were worried we would hurt our necks dropping the helmet so think about where we were being asked to hit with the crown of our helmet.  So, yeah, I will stick with bordering.

Wild stats

Stupid random stat.  Look at how far past ten yards the Eagles passes were.  Yes behind teams threw passes the Eagles didn’t need to throw.  Stats out of context are his favorite thing.

Going to start off with some of the obvious...the defense has 4 wide open starting spots...LB x2, S x1, nickel CB x1.

While the LB starting spots are wide open, there are serviceable players there in Cunningham, Morrow, and Dean (when he returns).

Safety has semi serviceable guys in Evans/Edmunds (despite their superior pedigree to the LBs, I might say they are actually a hair behind).

And nickel CB has nothing.  Jobe and Goodrich are bad...let's just call that one like it is and drop the promising young CB that they are high on stuff.

IMO, as GM, don't turn yourself into a pretzel try to do everything.  1 of those spots might have an answer on the roster.  1 can probably be hidden on an otherwise talented defense.  1 probably has to hurt them a bit because you can't have it all.  And 1 can really take the defense to the next level if they find the right upgrade at the deadline.

I don't know that it has to be Budda Baker.  But they need just 1 nickel CB/S/LB.  Get the best one available.

I’m not basing that on one play. Even in the preseason he looked like his burst was gone and he clearly lost a step.

We were down to two 2 RBs and the coaches only played Penny because Swift had to go to the sideline for an equipment issue. Coaches don’t want to play him at all, and that’s a big red flag.
