Been to Ricky national Park as well it's great, been to dinosaur national as well, my oldest loves dinosaurs he wants be an paleontologist when he gets older so we try to hit up all and aby dinosaur things we can when were out and about .

My kids actually travel really well it's just that stretch of road I 80 in Wyoming is just awful.

Drop up to Fossil Butte in southern WY.  It’s an old dry lake bed.  There are quarries around it where you can pay and are pretty much guaranteed to walk away with fossils.  I am dying to get back there for the restroom exhibit they opened this year. Coprolites on the wall in restrooms is just a great idea.  (Look it up, folks. A word the filters let me get away with.)

There has to be a rap song and album cover in there somewhere

Sounds awesome, I'll look into it, sounds like something my son would love, thanks👍

Not a great week for the Bears.

Did I just see a wig go flying?

Wasn't it Trotter that would say he'd go out on the field trying to split somebody's wig?

Haha, yup. I think it was a pregame speech trying to fire up the defense, saying something to the effect that they need to hit anything that moves, and if their grandmas step on the field, split her wig.

I don’t really think Wichita is "Kansas life” as I would define it. It’s city life.  Aircraft manufacturing and healthcare.  Not a lot of rural in Wichita.  I would suggest that Kansas life is probably more like Elk City (where my Kansas relatives are) or Hazleton (KS).  (I thank @HazletonEagle for my even recognizing I was driving through it. Kansas has some of the best soil in the nation.  Wheatbelt.  The cattle spreads in the Flint Hills.

But that’s the thing.  States tend to be diverse, you just have to look for it.  Get down to southern Utah and there are the Utes and the upper part of the Navajo nation.  Also a whole lot of nowhere out of the tourist areas in Utah.  Hard to get to because there aren’t much in the way of roads.

Heck,  San Francisco is quite different from Alameda or the vegetable farms on the southern part of the peninsula and way different from the Central Valley, the south coast, the Mojave or the redwood forests.

We love to lump people and areas together.  The Castro is different than the Haight, which is different than the Financial District, Beacon Hill, the Presidio or the piers.  We can split that with Philly too if you want or any big city and even a lot of small towns.  I think it’s safer to say, there are jackasses everywhere.

To emphasize that point visually, here is a map of California by red vs. blue counties

The drive through NM / Utah has some incredible scenery. Its also nice because its just there without going off your route.

We've done things like 4 corners but how many times do you need to stand in 4 states at once?

Wife loved 4 corners but that trip on the Nation was to fulfill my need to see Monument Valley, which was a place I always seemed to miss.  I think she enjoyed the stretch of Forrest Gump running and stopping too.  I’ve done a bunch of different ways around your route.  160 in southern CO, 64, 550 and some state roads I don’t recall the numbers on.  Eastward, I40 and I10 are boring.  Just about any route you can take from there towards Houston that isn’t an interstate (and unfortunately, those too) I have taken.  But if WY is barren wasteland to some, they probably wouldn’t enjoy eastern NM and west Texas.  But they would miss so much without realizing it, IMHO. I traveled a bunch. Recreationally and on business.  I met a man from another company early in my career that told me. He always took advantage of business travel to see things and that was the best advice.

I'll take driving through Nebraska looking at corn vs 80 through WY.

God no!  The terrain in Wyoming is incredibly varied.  When you take short trips off I-80 you get incredible experiences.  Nebraska the only variance along I-80 is whether you are looking a soy or corn.

My bad, I keep thinking Albert Brooks every time I think about Albert O for some absurd misfire in my aging brain.  Can’t explain it.  Must be because they could be twins.  It’s must be that they have the same hair cut.

Allen is an interesting idea.  Similar size to Watkins and certainly has speed.

Allen is also an excellent gunner.  Having Allen, Brown and Ringo as the gunners would be awesome.  Allen and Ringo could be the speed demons and Brown could lag ever so slightly behind them to be the tackler should the returner somehow evade Allen and Ringo.

They probably did it themselves to support their attempt to leave for a new stadium in Arlington Heights.

Very happy to run the immaculate slam today, although Jerome Bettis screwed my rarity score up for football; I should have thought harder.  Also, only 4 white guys in Immaculate Basketball -- that's just not acceptable.

I hate the way places are divided into red and blue.  That’s really not what I experience traveling around.

Now we know the real reason AJ was upset on the sidelines Thursday night!

I understand but as they age, try 50 to Grand Junction (after CO DOT stops working on the road.  Awesome drive.  Dodge City along the way.  They might get a kick out of the "museum” there.  Or get off 70 and drive 40 (you might even take a side route through Rocky Mountain National Park but that would add a day and you need reservations.  The Dinosaur National Monument visitor center in UT is awesome.

I take 50 west to Steamboat Springs, and then go south on CO 131 to Yampa and then go west for 80 miles on the Flat Tops Trail Scenic Highway to Meeker and then on to US 40 in Dinosaur (on the CO/UT border).

Monticello is fun because it sounds like an exotic destination if you don't know, then you drive through and it's like a stop light and a jack in the box next to the Mormon temple.😄

We stayed at the Inn of the Canyons in Monticello this summer.  Had a very nice dinner at The Granery Bar and Grill.  In Cortez the night before we had a truly outstanding dinner at The Farm Bistro.  We can't wait to go back there for dinner in a future trip.

It's amazing how you have Estes Park/Grand Lake/Rocky Mt. Park and then Yellowstone and the Tetons and Moab/Arches/Canyonlands with that empty stretch of hell in the middle.

Go north from Grand Lake through Granby to Walden and then pick up the Snowy Range Scenic Highway (Wyoming 130 from Laramie WY to Baggs WY.  That is anything but an empty stretch of hell.  From Baggs continue on to Dutch John at the base of Flaming Gorge and then head north to the Tetons.

I don’t know how that All PHLY thing is going to survive. They lured a bunch of media people, overpaid them, and their videos get like 80 live viewers on YouTube. Their channels only have a few thousand subs. I realize it takes time to grow, but if it doesn’t grow exponentially, I don’t see how the founders will deem this a cost effective venture.

Yup loves has it all.

Personally I'm partial to Beaver Utah.

The beaver gas station one of two at the stop has lots of trinkets from hats, t shirts  mugs etc... that say I ♥️ Beaver.😁

Beaver also has a superb Ice Cream Store ... actually a complete dairy.

Old Fall River Road is worth the time if your car will make it

I agree 100%.  We take a day trip from Granby to Grand Lake, up over trail Ridge Road to Estes, and then back by the fall River Road.  The Camry has no problem with Fall river Road.

I thought I was the only one who knew about Beaver, UT 🤣

I travel through southern Utah a lot for work and those drives are some of my favorite. Very scenic.
