They don't allow shoplifting the penalties for it arent high enough for police or prosecutors to care about.

Having said that crime in all major cities has increased, as has homelessness.SF and LA are big cities with big problems like most big cities.

I'm not really worried about the crime as much as the why?

Why don't similar big cities around the world have as high violent crime rates? Why do they have lower prison populations?

I have a few thoughts as do others who pay attention to these things for their jobs but that discussion is neither here nor there.

Question here is what do y'all think of cam Jurgens do far?

I'm by no means an expert on o line play, to me I think Jurgens has been fine, he has t wowed me at any point but I don't think he's been a liability or made any egregious mistakes either.

I am not sure that the cause of increased shoplifting should be linked to city or societal conditions. It is possible that people have just figured out that it is an easy crime that pays off. Most retailers have/had instructed employees not to intervene if they see shoplifting occurring. Just let the perp walk out of the store with the goods. The stores are more afraid of what happens if a confrontation occurs and many have adopted employee trauma counseling in such instances -- to avoid the workplace trauma lawsuits (this is a societal thing. We live in the age of trauma victimhood). Add in the internet and you now have an online network of information about which stores have what policies and who it is easy to steal from. This is why big chains have recently gone public about increased security measures. People steal. People look for opportunities to steal. The current climate at many retailers attracts the attention of thieves because they've gone from stopping theft to enabling it based on the the lesser of two liabilities. Now that it has gotten out of hand, the theft liability is winning and retailers are reacting. My $.02 on why it isn't an indicator of metropolitan or societal decline but is one of immoral human opportunism.

Not much different from this year minus the late score for the Vikings.

I work in grocery retail and we get written up/ suspended if we get hurt while trying to stop a shop lifter. Cost the company more to pay my hospital bill than it does losing a few items to theft. That being said we do watch for it and we do stop them but, if it escalates we are instructed to just let them go

In Philly it’s pretty straightforward - the DA isn’t prosecuting shoplifters as the value of the stolen goods is typically below some arbitrary threshold ($500?)… no consequences for bad behavior.

Ok why does the US have an increase in immoral opportunism compared to other countries???

Again I could share my thoughts as to why but I won't here be ayse it has nothing to do with football or the eagles

I stead I'll ask, how do you think Cam Jurgens has played so far?

It’s definitely a city thing. Yes, retailers are scared of getting sued if loss prevention intervenes like they used to. But it’s MAINLY because these people know they won’t get prosecuted.

The whole "defund the police” and "criminal justice reform” crap that swept up every city in the country manifested itself into a no consequence legal system. Turns out that prosecuting criminals and throwing them in jail for a long time is a good thing.

I think Jurgens has been good. The left side of the line is clearly better in the run game. Jurgens has flashed the athleticism to be Kelce's replacement. The hole remains at RG in the future. Lane is the one who has been questionable. Its a tough surgery to get over in terms of scar tissue that needs to rip free, I think. Overall, more than any other unit, the soft approach to preseason means that the OL will take a few games to get into game shape. That's what it looks like, IMO.

Pretty well. One thing I've noticed: he learns fast. Minnesota did some double-A-gap blitzing and he blocked the wrong guy once, but never again. On another snap the LB faked an A-gap blitz and he recognized the fake and double the NT with Kelce.

Yeah, that left side has been beastly, Mailata has been dominant in the run game, I'm not sure there's a better run blocking tackle in the league right now, and Dickerson minus a few penalties has been destroying dudes as well.

It's kind of funny to watch because Jurgens and Kelce are so much small but they are both quick and really understand angles and leverage and seem to function well in tandem.

Hopefully Steen will be ready to fill in at RG when time comes, I like his game.

Will be interesting to see what they do at RT, Lane is fast approaching retirement and they need to get his replacement sooner than later.

Yup he seems like he's picked up guard pretty quick, helps that he also has the quick feet to match the quick thinking

I don’t think Reddick will come close to replicating last year, but Sweat is about to have what will do down as the best year of his career.  Playing next to an emerging Davis, Carter, and rested Cox will work wonders.

Gee, I wonder why Philly (and I'm sure other large cities) have "Food Deserts" where the stores have all closed? 'Tis a mystery .......

I think Reddicks thumb is really hampering him, that and Desai hasnt put him in as many favorable situations.

Gannon ran more 5 man fronts where Reddick was the 5th rusher, so far Desai has run more 4 man rushes just having Reddick line up as a stand up edge.

Hopefully they both adjust.

I wish coaches would coach these guys not to leap over defenders.  Just so dangerous.
