Fascinating that the two worst divisions in the league are playing each other this year. AFC South and the NFC South. Then you also have the best divisions in each conference playing each other with the AFC East and the NFC East.

lets wait and see what the Desai scheme looks like before we decide where the essential Talent is

He’s absolutely not overpaid.

Also I’m saying he’s going to want a new deal after this year, not right now. That would be after 3 years into his 4 year deal which is pretty normal. How he does this year will go a long way to determine his value. But no matter what he or his agent won’t want to go into a lame duck year when he’s 27 and in his prime.

Definitely not overpaid.

Rewatching the highlights of week 1 last year and what worries me about first game is the defense just getting run all over early on.  First time any of the veteran starters are getting to tackle since the Super Bowl.

I think it’s @HazletonEagle that always blamed Joe Douglas for everything even though he reported to Howie. I always giggled at that because in reality, Howie was in command, so the blame should always fall on Howie. But I thought I’d make note that since he’s been gone, Howie hasn’t skipped a beat. All SEC all the time. Like he’s been listening to the fans with no influence from some expert. I just watched the last episode of Hard Knocks with Joe Douglas’s gigantic head creating a scene where the rookie wide receiver thought he was gonna get cut, but then him and Saleh gave him a hug.  It was like the fake firing from the Office. Since Joe Douglas been gone from this team, I can’t complain about Howie’s drafting anymore.  Peace out Joe.  Good work with Zach Wilson!

They’ll be fine.

Apparently Jobe ate at Taco Bell.  Only one on the injury report.  Left practice with an illness.  At least he wasn’t on a plane from Atlanta to Barcelona.

I agree that it should be aikman, but looking solely at win/loss record is kinda dumb here considering aikman was on one of the all-time stacked teams in the pre-salary cap era.

I have a wife from Texas with a lot of Dallarse fans for family, speaking 'blasphemy' on Aikman being overrated is treason to them.  The scenario proposed is 'would you rather have rhea or constipation'.  Though even given the era difference, Troy was the more 'prolific' passer I guess.  Aikman had the cast...Eli had the cast and 3 throws that can never be recreated ever that got him a few rings as well (and the name).  Probably 2 of the most overrated QB's of all time.

Eli was also a loser that couldn't overcome his biggest challenge between him and the playoffs nearly every year, which was the Eagles during his time.  If you can't beat the best, you aren't the best.

Howie wanted to trade up for Wilson…

Saying they both "had the cast" is painting with some awfully broad brush strokes. Aikman had a HoF'er at RB, WR, and G on the offensive side of the ball. Eli had none. Diving deeper, aside from Emmitt, Irvin, and Allen, Aikman also had Novacek, Newton, Moose, Harper, Williams, etc. Eli had Brandon Jacobs, Shockey, and Plaxico. The disparity in their respective OL is massive.

Nah.  You should have a look at Tiki Barber’s numbers for the first few years of Eli’s career.  As good or better than Emmitt Smith — so, either Barber was a better RB than Emmitt, or the Giants OL for the first 2/3 of Eli’s career was pretty good.

Eli and Tiki played together for like 2 or 3 years. Aikman and Emmitt played together for over a decade. And as I said, there's no comparison in OL. That early 90's cowboys OL had Allen, Newton, Williams, Stepnoski, and Tuinei. Perennial pro-bowlers and an absolute force to be reckoned with.

The Giants were rolling up 1,500-2,000 yards on the ground every year up to 2012 with their top 1-2 RBs.  Their OL and running game went downhill from 2013 onwards, and Eli went downhill with them.

Both QBs were a product of the offense around them — neither were generational talents — but Aikman was the better QB overall by a pretty wide margin, especially before the concussions

Going to be raining and thunderstorms all game Sunday.  Hopefully no lightning caused delays.

So did the cowboys, and run blocking is only half the equation. The cowboys OL were elite in pass protection too.

Aikman’s 7-8 concussions tell a different story

It's almost like Eli played in a completely different era than Troy, one where flags for late hits on the QB and blows to the head were more strictly enforced.

I thought hold out fines weren’t able to be waived.  Per Rappaport:

More: Nick Bosa gets $122.5M in overall guarantees and the team will waive all fines.

If i remember hearing correctly since he was still on a rookie contract the fines can be waived. Whereas Chris jones isn’t therefore can’t be waived.
