Team is growing but the defense still concerns me becauseof injuries and a few holes. The DE aren't playing as well as they should. The secondary still worries me and I think a better QB eats them alive.  Howie getting one more piece via trade could make a big difference. LBs played better today. Still think they need one more there as well. DC is doing a good job.

They were better tonight on offense but have lot of work to do. Signs point upwards.

DEs aren’t graded on sacks alone.  With the DTs absolutely crushing the middle of the pocket, the DEs, even Barnett, are doing an excellent job of compacting the pocket inward while setting the edge.  White and Mayfield couldn’t get outside. I think I saw a stat (Buck and Troy were muted) that Mayfield was 1/2 while rolling out.  That’s serious contain.  Only thing I disliked about the defense was going into a loose zone prevent when up by three touchdowns and frankly that spear catch by Evans was phenomenal.  Pay him Tampa.

You could see that Hurts was off last night and he was walking like he was feeling the effects of the flu.  Considering that, he was okay and just good enough. When he threw that interception near the end zone my reaction, even before the score, was he just threw them into a safety.

I got the double dose of both the flu shot and Covid booster last week.  The next day, I had no energy at all so I can only imagine how Hurts felt.  (Both in the same arm.  The Vax arm reaction was real and I couldn’t raise my arm above my shoulder for a day.).  Makes me wonder if Hurts has had the flu shot because I don’t want what he has.

Not serious but game in 6 days.  Could definitely use a slot

I respectfully disagree.  To make that move without giving Penny a legitimate shot at proving himself ... or not ... would be premature and unwise.  I would start Swift on Sunday and play him for the first drive and then bring in Penny for the second drive.  We talk about "prove it" seasons.  That second drive would be Penny's "prove it" equivalent.

I'd love to see what Penny can do but the Eagles are reluctant to give him a shot. Something isn't right with the situation and that's why I'm suggesting moving on from him. It's strange because he did look good in the preseason.

Super humid game in the rain. Not surprising. This happened to the Bucs' players too. Brown slipped on that Evans play.

Did vita vea even play last night? All I heard coming into this game was how dominant he is and how could the eagles o-line possibly handle him.

the eagles o-line does that to practically every "big time” defensive lineman. They make them invisible.

He played 43 out of 80 snaps.

Tbh part of me thinks they are trying to preserve him until later in the year where his style could very much be needed.

Couple of the nicknames going around for Blankenship are pretty good: Chalk Dawk and The Mayo Missile

They saw something in Morrow to target him right at the start of FA.  Then they buried him.  Makes no sense.  Personally, when Dean comes back, Cunningham would be the odd man out for me.  And I think I'd keep the green dot with Morrow.  Let Dean get used to the speed of the NFL without also being responsible for the calls.  Morrow can handle that.  Dean will likely flash a bit more if he can just concentrate on playing fast.

That was my preference during Training Camp.  Play Dean in the Middle and Morrow at WIL, with Morrow having the green dot.

I’m aware. I assumed going in that he would play on the outside in two WR sets and then move inside vs three WRs.

I will take a look when the All22 comes out.  I suspect there was some Cover 5 last night.  They picked on Jobe with the first two passes but then it looked like Desai adjusted the S help.  Hard to say with the broadcast view.

Big question... around mid-season, do you reach out to Suh again and add him for late roster push and move Marlon T. to the practice squad?    Adding fresh legs around that point might be a big deal around November...

Marlon T. would never clear waivers. He's actually playing pretty well in limited action. Other teams have eyes too. They know he can play. We're deep at DT. Unless we have some kind of injury wave, I doubt Suh would make enough of an impact to justify adding him.

I'll say this though. We definitely have a numbers game ahead of us. We'll need to clear a roster spot soon for Mann. And another one when Dean comes back. Guys are gonna have to be released with the hope of them clearing waivers and making it back to the practice squad. Maybe Goodrich. Maybe Albert O. Maybe even Penny. Street could be a trade candidate. Obviously other players could get injured too and the roster spots will be cleared naturally.

It's clear what his nickname should be

He clearly is the 4th RB on the depth chart. Why are you cutting guys because he isn't getting an opportunity?

I’m not disagreeing that Quez could be upgraded but I’m not going to crown Zaccheaus anything after a two catch game.

@hputenis crowned you multiple times last night. He also crowned you deek gobbler queen

He looked so sad on the sidelines.

Because we were told he was going to have a role on the team. Last night, Swift was gashing the TB defense for 8 YPC. Gainwell was getting 3 YPC and played 50% of the snaps. There's no reason he shouldn't have had an opportunity last night. Something just seems off about the whole thing.

I thought Jobe had a really solid game. I'd still like to see Ricks get some meaningful snaps. I'm sure all of those catches were from Evans. I'll take it

I didn’t expect to have a blankman reference today but I’m here for it

I'm a little surprised he didn't get any touches from Scott being out

Yes.   Blankenship is reading the play, reading the QB's eyes and jumping routes.  He is fun to watch.

I think we have an ascending star at safety.

Quite possibly 2 if Brown gets more opportunities.

I'm pretty sure Penny would have gave us at least 5ypc. Gainwell had 14 carries.... Swift went 16 for 8 YPC sheesh.
