Wow. Forget the Eagles’s spot for a moment… Atlanta is a tier above NYJ? Dallas is 3 tiers above SF? Green Bay is 4 tiers above the Commanders? Seattle is 4 tiers above the Ravens? This is kind of bananas

In the Bayless / Cowherd mold.  Be bold and controversial as a means to get viewers.

No worries.  If the 49ers don't like a rule, they'll just whine until it gets changed.

Incidentally... if the current rule was in place at the time of the NFC CG... nothing would have changed for the 49ers, because they didn't even have a 3rd QB on the PS, let alone the roster.  They would have needed the NHL 3rd goalie rule, where if the top 2 goalies are injured, you can pull someone out of the stands.

I believe that's incorrect. I think Jimmy G was on their active roster even though he had been injured. The simply hadn't put him on IR yet in case they made the Super Bowl (and Philip Rivers said no, I presume).

But you're right that the rule wouldn't have helped them any. Everything they did that worked out wrong was their own fault.

By the way, it's looking more and more like a rainy day in Foxborough on Sunday.

That always favours the underdog.

Sorry, thought you meant the tie breakers like "Hurts wins MVP” or "DeVonta 1000 yards”

I like that. We are still a run dominant team at our core, and Dlines feast in inclement weather. (Today I learned inclimate is not a word)

29-18 Birds.

The Bengals had the foresight to dress 3 QBs for the AFC Championship Game.  There was no rule change necessary; if the Niners felt it was important to have the ability to dress a third QB they should have activated Jimmy G or signed a guy during the week.

Ahead of the AFC championship on Sunday, the Bengals made a surprising move to fill their roster for the game. Cincinnati announced that it promoted quarterback Jake Browning from the practice squad, giving them three active quarterbacks for the game.

23-20 Eagles

12-5 record

Textbook fraud with a dose of identity theft.  Given how much difference there is between regular Sunday Ticket and the student discount, that may well be a felony.  I don’t understand why we have become so willing to look the other way at crime in this country.

Looks at the 'news', see/hears about politicians(leadership) of our country getting a slap on the wrist - or not even that - for what would be a felony for you or I. If he/she can do that with little or not consequence, why shouldn't I? And no I don't think this is political, it applies to both sides.

There's a lot of talking heads blowing smoke up the Cowboys this year, most seems to be based solely on the idea that 'Hey Dak can't play that badly again right?' and because they got Brandin Cooks to go opposite Lamb, which makes sense as long as you ignore that he couldn't get past the wild card with Amari Cooper, Lamb, Gallup plus Elliotts last 1000 yard 10TD rushing season 2 years ago. Presumably they think the Brian Schottenheimer hire is going to jet propel Mike McCarthy's one Superbowl win in 12 years with Brett Favre and prime Aaron Rodgers, call a QB draw with 14 seconds on the clock horses ass offense.

The Pats RT is on IR. The Pats RG missed most of training camp due to ankle surgery. The Pats LG has an ankle/leg injury and hasn't been able to practice. And the Pats LT is sick (but that could be anything). The Pats' top 2 TEs are healthy, but neither are good blockers (Hunter Henry, Mike Gesicki).

No reason for our front 4 not to dominate.

Not sure what weather report you're looking at.  78% of rain with Thunderstorms.  If you search via Google where Google then shows you the hourly weather for Sunday it shows thunderstorms with a high chance of rain during the time of the game.

I think we're gonna score some points.

Eagles 38 - Pats 13

Bonus:

* Nolan Smith, Jalen Carter both get a sack

* DeAndre Swift 100 yards rushing

* Devonte Smith 100 yards receiving

Exactly.  The issue was that teams didn't plan accordingly.  The 3rd QB rule had been in place for years while dressing 45 players.  The 3rd QB was allowed to dress, designated as such, and he wouldn't count against the 45 and could play in either the 4th quarter.  Or if he entered sooner than that, the 2nd or 1st string QB couldn't enter the game until the 4th quarter.  It was already there, but teams complained, and they changed it to just dressing 46 players, no restrictions.  In other words, if teams still wanted the 3rd QB, it was an option and they'd have been in no different situation as they were in the past, just without the quarters distinction.  The 3rd QB could play at any time with no consequence.   BUT, some teams prefer to have an extra DB or LB or OL.  Which is fine, but they just had to realize that it came with a potential cost.  And while the extra DB, LB, or OL might have paid off a few times, on the rare occasion that the 3rd QB is needed, the consequence of not having him available is catastrophic.  So be it.   At this point, why even limit and have some players be inactive?  Just make the roster all active on gameday... all 53, unless you are elevating a player from the PS.  Then you'd have to deactivate a player to account for that.
