Has anyone figured out why Jalen looks noticeably slower running this year than before? Could it have anything to do with the ankle surgery he had after the superbowl to remove some old hardware or whatever that was?

Nothing to base this off of but observation, but it seems like he's not really giving it full effort like he did in the past. This isn't a slight, it just looks like he's trying to process more what's going on, where the defenders are, where he has blocks etc etc to avoid taking big or unnecessary hits whereas before he kinda just plowed into people more like a RB. I'm sure it also has to do with how defenses have been adjusting to him and giving him different looks that's slowing everything down.

Dragging 255 million would slow a lot of people down

That's true it does look that way and I'm glad he's trying to process the defense. There have been situations though where it's obvious he should be full on sprinting and it looks like he just isn't and didn't know if my eyes were deceiving me or if there's something else there. Jalen never seems to tell anyone if something is actually bothering him physically so probably never know.

He seems to be fine when he’s 100% committed to a run. He’s learning to protect himself. We need him healthy if we want to win. Let him stop running full speed.

I was more referring to a couple instances that I remember him trying to run to the sideline to get out of bounds but couldn't. Not run down the middle of the field full bore.

That's also crossed my mind but willing to give him the benefit of doubt for now.

He does seem a bit slow though. In the past, you didn't question if he'd make it around the edge but now it seems like it's a struggle for him to get there.

Poor Jets and negative comments. I hope they weren't hurt too bad!

Reminds me of my nephew playing his first year of midget football. We were asked not to say when a player plays bad. The quarterback on the team is garbage and we aren't allowed to say he had a bad throw.

Soo with Evans and Brown both looking like they are going to miss the game Sunday and Maddox already on IR, what are the realistic options with S?

We don't have a traditional S on the PS. Their is McCollum who has been cut already and never played in an NFL game. Mullen is a slot only corner whose probably too small/unexperienced/not talented enough to get elevated. And Garner who at least has the size, but not sure what else.

Ringo is the only guy on the roster with the size to step in (besides Bradberry whose already doing enough). But seems like a big ask from him if he has to play.

Give him a Standing ovation

Safety wise, McCollum would have to be active from the PS as there is no one else if the others are out.  Could be an ish show

Wilson sucks. Andy might be able to get something out of him, but Joe is right.

I’m glad we’re having this issue against Washington’s offense now & hopefully not when it’s against Miami/KC/BUF/SF/DAL

Seems like there will be a problem somehow, especially since one of the elevations is already handicapped by having a P on the PS. Watkins finally did a LP today but still sounds like not a sure thing he'll play so WR is also still a big ? for this week.

Best solution to me would be to cut Goodrich tomorrow, sign the P, and then figure it out.

I remember an instance when he was running towards the sideline but got down intentionally to keep the clock running.  I do think this team takes time of possession seriously.  I think they love to keep the D-line fresh.

But I have also noticed a little indecisiveness with Jalen.  I don’t think it’s him not "seeing the field" like I’ve heard some Talking Heads mention.  I think there is a concerted effort to keep him in the pocket more and he is adjusting to that.

And let’s face it… They did not pay him $250 million because he can run a lot. They already knew that. They paid him because he proved he could do the other things. I think they are trying to take the other things to another level..

When we get into really important games later in the season, or in the playoffs, I’m hoping things will look more fluid with his decision to run or not.

People may not want to hear this about a guy that just got a large contract, but his learning process is not completed.  I do trust him when it comes to doing the things he needs to do to continue to learn.

I don't think asking you not to criticize a child is the same thing at all.

If Jalen Carter wants to win DROY, he needs to show his versatility and go play some safety.

Howie needs to add another proven S/nickle back.  I am fine with the LBs but with these injuries and uneven play I think it would be a big gamble for the back end to hold up over the course of the season.

Oh no….

Yup.  Goodrich or a player on IR... So Goodrich is the most sensible, especially if Mann as a punter, is someone they are comfortable with.
