I watched the Nick Chubb injury for the first time just now. Don't get me wrong--it was ugly--but from reports you'd think his leg was ripped off and there was blood and piss and gore all over the field. I intentionally wouldn't watch it because of how awful people made it sound. 🤷‍♂️

The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced two roster moves ahead of their Week 4 home game against the Washington Commanders. An overview:

  • S Tristin McCollum and P Braden Mann were temporarily elevated from the practice squad.

TRISTIN MCCOLLUM

McCollum’s elevation was expected since the Eagles are dealing with multiple injuries at safety. Rookie Sydney Brown has been ruled out with a hamstring issue while Justin Evans is officially questionable to play.

If Evans can’t suit up, the Eagles will start Reed Blankenship and Terrell Edmunds with McCollum serving as depth and playing on special teams. Zach Berman from ALL PHLY has noted that Kelee Ringo could also be an emergency option at safety.

McCollum is making his NFL regular season debut on Sunday. He flashed on occasion during training camp and actually finished the preseason as the 13th-highest graded safety by Pro Football Focus, for whatever it’s worth.

McCollum originally signed with the Eagles on a futures contract back in January. He is the twin brother of Zyon McCollum, who started for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against Philly in Week 3.

BRADEN MANN

Mann will serve as the Eagles’ punter for the second straight game. He only punted once on Monday night. If all goes well, the Birds won’t need him much again against Washington.

After this week, the Eagles can promote Mann one more time before deciding if they want to sign him to the roster or not.

This can’t go on forever - does the crystal ball have anything about a trade for nickel CB and Goodrich to the taxi squad?

Week 4.  Time for for our first NFC Beast Showdown.   Washington Commanders come in at 2-1.   They had two comeback wins against Arizona and Denver.  They actually held The Bills to 16 points most of the game but lost control to eventually get blown out.  Sam Howell is coming off his worst game but it was only his 4th Start.  All in all.  Washington is still a threat and we can't take anything lightly.   With all that said, I feel the Birds are starting to click.   Defense is really rolling now.  Special Teams with Jake and yes even Covey is delivering.  We've had 2 100 Yard WR's and a 130 + Yard Rusher in back to back games.   I think the Birds are coming into their own.

Sam will probably play better than the last game. They will try to run the ball on us but our Run Defense is much better this year. It won't be enough for them against this Defense.  Washington's O-Line also has had issues giving up 19 sacks.  They are on pace for the Sack record in a bad way.  As for our Sack Boys.  They have been waiting for a game to feast.  This should be it.   Yes we did split with Washington last year.  I don't think this version of the Birds is overlooking them at all.  In the end. I expect them to get this done.  Defense will force Sam into more mistakes.  Offense should continue to rack off points and yards. Washington does have good Defensive Players but again they giving up a lot on the ground.    Washington Run Defense hasn't been the best.  We should continue a balance attack.  Birds roll to 4-0.  Defense will be too much for Sam.

BIRDS - 36

WASHINGTON - 12

JALEN - RUSH TD

AJ - TD

GOEDERT - TD

SWIFT - RUSH TD

JAKE - FG x2

DEFENSE - INT, MULTIPLE SACKS, FUMBLE, SAFTEY

@mattwill

With Sydney Brown listed as out, it could prove difficult him getting his first career INT, so I’m changing my bonus prediction to…

Hurts has at least 1 TD pass of 50 or more yards.

Another guy on my want list. Covey has been nice but a player that can dominate as a DB and be a dynamic returner would be huge for this team.

Don't think you're gonna find a lot of dominant DBs who NFL teams are gonna risk getting wrecked on punt returns.

Time and situation.  Deion did it, and some might say that he was the single most dominant CB in league history.

If we can't score a TD after marching down the field, this could be a trap game. Now, who's the Commanders' qb again?

We need to draft the michigan state punter next year

Well, we have 3 RBs instead of 2 so it might be easier.

Also, we're first in the NFL in rushing attempts per game. We are indeed running the ball.

@mattwill

Eagles 38

Commanders 14

Washington scores first TD and last TD to get to 14 with the Eagles scoring their 38 in between....

Chandler Jones had a mandatory stay at a mental health facility recently, not of his own voli6ion and got out this week very angry with it.  I suspect yesterday was a symptom of being made to o that.  He clearly needs a lot help and no NFL team should be enabling whatever is going on his life.
