Idk why I thought we were like 10th. Maybe it feels like we haven't executed well enough when we're in the redzone

Better nickname, imo

I'm liking the nicknames the players have come up with so far this year.

Carter being Baby Rhino and Jake Elliott being Chicken Little

They easily could be higher if they were better in the red zone in 3 of the 4 games. Minnesota they were 3 of 4. In the other 3 games they are 3-9.

Probably because Hurts' regression has dominated the conversation, but rarely mentioned is how we're still pretty damn efficient offensively as a whole. Lots of gripes every game day about $250M being wasted, and yet we're still a top 5 offense with room to improve.

As I am watching these games, I am pretty convinced that Brian Johnson is doing a decent job.  He has had some bone headed type calls but the team has done better in the 2nd half of games.  In large part the passing game has been better because the first reads have been open.  That's the playcalling.  There's room for improvement but he's had more good than bad.

their red zone offense is the biggest issue they have at the moment if hurts is able to play turnover free football. The first 3 weeks hurts had 4 turnovers. Past week he didn’t have any. The offense gets inside the red zone and the play calls are often times head scratching or conservative. Sometimes they just look like they are off like Aj dropping a td or not on the same page as like with goedert. don’t get me wrong they need to figure out how to get goedert going as well as the oline needs to be better in terms of not getting penalized

The issue in parts is the O appears or is perceived to be quite clunky or feast/famine, so the total points scored is being missed.

We forget at times how much the coaching setup has changed on both sides of the ball, at the same time. It's not easy to come out looking smooth in that regard

And he still got six pressures. I wouldn’t call that quite well at all.

I expected more from our D line. With that presumption I thought Washington did better than expected.

I also think it's time to end the Bradberry at Nickel experiment. If we can't find someone else whether it's a FA or one of the thousand of corners we kept, then we failed hard in that area.

Their backup slot didn’t make it out of PS (McPhearson).  Further, Howie was planning for Maddox salary ballooning/McPhearson free agency next year with the signing of Rodgers, albeit a 170 lb slot corner doesn’t excite me.  Mullen is an intriguing prospect but his weakness in route recognition and his height are a concern.  Of note, Josiah Scott is there for poaching from Pittsburgh’s PS although currently on PS IR.

Think there’s a potential blows up in your face dynamic to it is why it’s a tougher decision to make. Frankly in a better build team and better run franchise i think hart winds up looking a lot better than he has here.

Technically they should do that and get a boatload for him to help the rebuild. But even if you do that but struggle to find a franchise goaltender then you could find yourself being the early 2000s flyers. good teams but goaltending that let them down nearly every year when it mattered. they were stuck in goalie purgatory. If you make that trade you better be damn sure on the prospects you get back, capitalize on those picks and find that goaltender. cause if hart goes elsewhere and thrives and you get stuck in a goalie purgatory for years it’s a tough pill to swallow.

They had Roman Cechmanek, who was a damned good goalie behind a team with zero character.  They scored a total of two goals in a 5-game series against Ottawa and left Cechmanek hung out to dry.  He got so fed up he went back to the Czech Republic after being traded to LA.  Robert Esche was also better than advertised for awhile.  Marty Biron was okay, not great -- but any of those guys would have been good enough on a team with any guts.  I remember the 2004 playoffs when Keith Primeau and Esche carried the team to the conference final against Tampa Bay before they wore out.

The Flyers main problem in that era (aside from character) was Eric Desjardins masquerading as a #1 defenceman.  He and Therien were a 3/4 pairing, at best, on a championship team.  Low and behold, the Flyers went to the 2004 conference finals without either of them in the lineup.

I don't know what the locker room is like, but this feels like one of those rare football teams where the kicker becomes part of the fabric of the team.

Hard not to respect a guy who consistently wins you games with clutch kicks.

Not disagreeing they had defensemen issues like you pointed out. However their Goaltending also usually came up small when it matter the most. their goaltending would also give up soft goals as well in many of those playoff games/series. I remember them give up a goal from past center ice or a couple of goals outside the blue line that should’ve been a routine stops. 2004 vs. tampa might have been the year they got consistency from goaltending and from their defense and they just ran into tampa who was also really good. The years around it the defense wasn’t good enough and they got inconsistent goaltending in the playoffs. I’d argue playoff game to playoff game outside of 2004 they had issues with consistency from the defense and goaltending.

Id also add I think some of the expectations that these goalies needed to be Bernie parent kind of ruined some of these goaltenders. they could never live up to that expectation and i think mentally broke down some of the goalies.

Eagles need a second center since Jurgens was Kelce's backup.  I'm thinking they activate Good-Jones from the practice squad and keep Steen inactive.  None of the other seven Eagles active OLs can play center.  They will put Jurgens on IR and elevate Mann to the active roster.  Since it looks like Covey will be out they will call up Ward from the practice squad to return punts and be the extra WR.

Think that’s all pretty logical and likely. But it may be Devon Allen over Ward.
