I think there’s a 90 percent chance Arizona would claim him, let alone other teams.

Yea we’ll just have to agree to disagree on that one.  The guy is a udfa nobody.  Not sure why everyone feels the need to treat him like a 2nd round pick.

I’d say one for sure (Edmunds or Evans, depending on who is starting), but we have two really bad coverage LBs right now and a DC who decided to play off coverage an insane amount against Washington. Slay hasn’t been great either, but I wonder if that’s been more coverage busts than him in particular.

Slay got a ton of flack last year and mostly it was other players missed assignments that made him look bad.

So far this year, Slay isnt looking as dominant.

But I think a large issue is that QBs have a ton of room to place balls because our LBs arent filling passing lanes. Theyve been phenomenal filling against the run, but theres not much coverage happening and QBs are seeing huge passing lanes.

Yeah he’s looked horrible in each at bat. He’s trying to do too much. This game easily should be 5-0 Phillies. I’m hoping that doesn’t come back to bite us in the end.

I’m not treating him that way, just arguing against the idea that teams are targeting him and he’s been a problem out there.

I prefer he go to the bench and Roby  takes over in the slot.

The only playoffs the flyers are seeing anytime soon… :meh:

Yeah, I think it’s really clear that teams are targeting these areas against us. I think that’s why we went to more cover one (at least I thought I read we did that).

I think Jobe’s been okay, which probably means in actuality he’s been pretty good.  The only thing that stood out to me was in the Tampa game where he was giving a bunch of cushion and the Bucs were getting a few easy sideline completions.  Not a terrible thing if it’s sporadic.

For CBs, fans usually need to be patient.  Unless they’re a top 15 pick, it usually takes quite awhile for them to learn WR tendencies and form a good plan of attack.  What you need in a CB is someone smart enough to know when he has help and can gamble vs when he can’t, someone who’s a good enough tackler to limit YAC yards, and someone with a very short memory.  Getting beat for a big play can’t shake their confidence

Put me in the group who have been somewhat impressed by Jobe. He's not a starter, but he's a solid backup.

Luckily the rest of the team is picking up the slack and Wheeler has been on fire. At this rate he would be able pitch 8 innings.

I agree. I thought Jobe has played pretty well. I thought Evans would destroy him. He defended him pretty well

The LBs, scheme, Edmunds. Sometimes the QB makes a great throw. Not being able to tackle Addison was really bad, no question. Sometimes average CB play means getting beat. Losing against Dotson is not some great indictment. And again, the numbers don’t really show him getting targeted and taken advantage of.

I think it was the Vikings game jobe was targeted 6 times gave up 6 completions over 100 yards and a td one being the long td to Addison where he missed the tackle.

Those numbers would suggest he was targeted and taken advantage of

He looked better against the bucs and commanders though the commanders still picked on him a bit and he didn't make any plays.

The league rules as is put DBs at a tremendous disadvantage it's not enough just to not be horrible, one needs to make plays, PBUs, Ints, FFs or at minimum be in such tight coverage to dissuade throws, if not one is just an obligatory part of the game.

Jobe at this point is just obligatory.

Having said that ,tough to make plays on the ball when one is 10 yards off the ball on a 3rd and 4....😒

Good cause you never know what Aaron nola you are going to get this year. So might need to go to the pen tomorrow. Saves them for a day.

Jobe stood out to me on an ugly deep toasting 2 weeks ago and on Sunday’s tying TD.  Maybe he’s playing "fine” aside from that.  But I know the secondary isn’t fine and it’s not fair to put that all on the LBs.

Teams are afraid of this DL, designing short drops with quick releases…and they still have specifically WRs (not backs and TEs) that are wide open in all areas of the field…not just underneath a cushion.

Im not saying it can’t/won’t be fixed, but let’s not deflect from the reality that it’s really bad.

I haven’t really noticed him. So I guess that’s a good thing

might as well let him finish the year and suck to get Williams

its like back yard football where there are no LBs. You just have your WRs against some CBs and safeties.

If a QB has to worry about getting the ball around or over an LB, then he might have to place it in a place thats a little more vulnerable for a CB to break it up or pick it. If the passing lanes are gigantic, its much easier to place it in a place where the CB has no real shot.

Our entire defense right now is reliant on the DL making the QB rush in to a poor throw.

It's hard to see when your handcuffed, blindfolded, in a cage in @hputenismaster bathroom

Big news!

I do agree that the secondary as a whole is rough though. Slay and Bradberry are just okay at this point, and I don't think you love playing much man coverage with them.

I don't know why we wouldn't play more zone bump and run with this DL.

Corners who have even an ounce of ability are valuable these days. Young and talented. Not that complicated

Helluva throw and catch
