It is, but how do you compare a point guard to a center?   A power forward to a shooting guard?  Such different roles.

Who was better Cy Young or Mickey Mantle?

In real life we do it all the time when we make a budget. Thought is given to how much we value each of the two alternatives and in the end, one gets valued more than the other.

With that said, I understand and empathize with the point you are making.

Hardly. I'm more than double 35.

If we're ascribing blame for bad behavior and an undeserved sense of entitlement, I lay it upon bad parenting. Most of those folk are over 35.

Agreed.

Exactly, which makes it so subjective that there can never be consensus and people will argue infinitely.

Those are probably the five most influential players, but that is a different category than the 5 top players.  However, I can't make a top 5 list without Wilt.

There are 4 players with legitimate GOAT claims in NBA history, IMO. In chronological order: Wilt, Kareem, Jordan and LeBron. And no Lebron haters, I really don't want to hear it. Just deal with it.

Wilt -- just the greatest statistical monster of all time. His clear negative is he didn't win enough and couldn't beat the Celtics.

Kareem -- I feel like he gets overlooked, but once again a stat monster who won MVPs and championships. The negatives are (i) his numbers are somewhat due to longevity and (ii) his championships in the 80s came on a stacked team with another all-time top 10 (Magic).

Jordan -- greatest scorer in NBA history, great defender, and 6-0 in NBA finals. Dominated the league. But there are 2 serious negatives (i) the 1993-1994 Bulls won 3 fewer games after he retired a week before training camp and made game 7 of the EC Semis and (ii) Jordan never faced tough competition due to expansion watering down the league (he faced one finals open with 3 HOF players, and that was the 1991 Lakers where Magic had HIV, Divac was a bench player and Worthy was hurt).

LeBron -- the greatest all around player statically (points, rebounds, assists). 10 finals appearances. Faced super teams in 8 of them.  Negatives -- he lost to the one of the non super team he faced (2011 Mavs), 4-6 overall finals record.

I guess you can include Russell too, but I don't. There's really not a wrong answer among those 4.

Yeah, and has anybody actually flown into Atlanta?  I think that airport is probably one of the circles of hell.

Many times.  Did a project down there down in 2005.  One time flying from LVI (tiny airport) to Atlanta I was there plenty early and they still managed to lose my bag.  It made it to Atl, they just couldn't find it for days.

It's almost noon.  Shouldn't you be having supper soon? :P

Ruling a guy out this early feels like the injury is worse than they are letting on.

Well crap.  Good thing we have great depth at DT

The Pats game was the first of the year, we jumped out to a 16 point lead and he threw 54 passes.  They scored 20 points. No problem at all if Stafford repeats that performance.

Howell is infinitely more mobile than Stafford will be, and no one on the Rams currently (assuming Kupp isnt 100%) is as good as Terry Mclaurin.  Washington is divisional and always play us tough.  They also had some success running the ball with Robinson, and are a much better running team in general.

Stafford has 3 TDs and 5 picks this year.  And hes got a bad hip.

Being the first game of the year (a whole 4 weeks ago) might matter if we've shown improvement since then, but I'm just not seeing much, if any. Heck, due to Avonte's injury, you could even argue our secondary is more of a liability now than it was then.

And you might be surprised with just how capable Kupp, Nacua, and Atwell will be as a trio. I think they have a better overall WR group than Washington has.

As for Stafford's mobility, Cousins isn't the most mobile QB either and he seemed to manage just fine against us too. All I'm saying is don't be shocked if Stafford has a day and goes off on us.

@mattwill

Eagles: 27

Rams: 33

Bonus: Rams with a TD over 50 yards

Wednesdays I work with a trainer. Today it's pilates. Tomorrow I swim laps at the Y.

Time for Carter and Williams to get more snaps.

I can endorse all the enthusiasm for the upcoming Braves series.  But their lineup is historically good.

We can, however, out pitch them.  Aside from Fried, their starters in the second half of the season were mediocre to bad.  Strider strikes out dudes, but will also give up runs in chunks. The kid Elder faded down the stretch.  I'm not sure if Morton will be available.

If our pitchers can keep their hitters to just very good, rather than great, our guys should be able to outscore them.

Yeah, but then you have to fly Delta

They have a hub here and we fly them all the time. The one time we had a delayed flight, they threw a bunch and meal and flight credits our way. You certainly could do much worse as far as airlines go.

Atlanta is pretty bad, but LAX and Ohare are worse.

One other negative you can list on Jordan vs LeBron is the advent of zone defenses due to the rule change after he retired. He even admitted his numbers wouldn't have been nearly as good if he had to face zone as much as teams play it now.

LAX is a 3rd world airport. It's horrible. It's also been under construction for 25 years straight.

Discomfort can mean a lot of things.   Bulging/herniated disc is 'discomfort'.

Heathrow is the absolute worst.

Yeah if the dude had to get an epidural, I'd say that's a bit more than discomfort. That'd be like telling my wife not to make such a big fuss during labor over a little "discomfort."

I actually don't hate Delta nor am an Airline snob.

But I will avoid Southwest and Spirit at all costs.  I've literally seen trash bags used by multiple people on a single Southwest flight as carry on luggage (plus those f'ers stranded me in Omaha once when they switched me to an earlier flight and forgot to mention they didn't have a seat for me on the second leg).  And Spirit, well, I don't feel like being involved in a mid flight brawl.
