I didn’t even know crowder was still in the league.

Wasn’t he the player who called for a fair catch against the Ragles and then ran with the ball, but wasn’t given a penalty?

I think so

I didnt know that was a penalty, I figured it’d be treated like a player running a dead ball back to the end zone - waste your energy if you’d like sir but the whistle has been blown lol

Friday morning Predictions Update ... 32 predictions recorded and they continue to come in at a 2:1 ratio of wins vs. losses.  Average score continues to be a tight Eagles 29 Rams 26.

An interesting take by @Procus  What are your thoughts?

The 1981 team was loaded with old timers who were on their last legs. There are a few exceptions of course but this is mostly a young team that should improve rather than decline. I don’t see much similarity at all.

Right now I just need to see a win this weekend.  I've only once had to walk out of an opposing stadium after losing.  Just once, but I didn't like it.  I don't want to repeat that experience.

Does your nervousness extend to making a score prediction?  If no, let 'er rip!

Some random thoughts

Rugby play - As we said in here, the Wash DL was offsides on the play that Dickerson was called for a penalty.  Look at the pics and there is no debate.  Kelce called out the NFL for "looking for a penalty against the Eagles".  Then there is the fact that other teams have not been able to copy the success of the play.  Chalk that up to our personnel and technique.  Time to put this discussion to bed.

Hurts - For sure, the coaches have him playing from the pocket this year which is a necessary update to his game if he is to play a normal long QB type of career.  Having said that, he looks pretty much the same to me.  He isn't the greatest pure passer but he is effective and very good and with his other qualities the overall result is "great".  btw - He has the most passing yards in the league over the last two weeks (I heard that on a podcast and didn't look it up).  He is fine.

Team - We are 4-0 and really in the same spot we were last year.  O is nearly identical but with a better top RB.  The only worry is depth on the OL but fingers crossed there.  D has been banged up but looks to have a chance to be a bit better.  Certainly better on the DL and the other units don't really look any worse to me.  ST are somewhat better as well at this point especially since Covey has improved.  Play calling is a weakness but let's give some time there.  The test will come once we hit the killer stretch after the bye.  We need to be 7-2 or better heading into that tough period.

Cox - I can't understand why he got 67 snaps (or whatever it was) against Wash.  Someone made a mistake there.  Now he gets a week or two off and when he returns drop him down to 40 max.  We need to save him for the late run in Dec/Jan and hopefully Feb.

Wash - A team that is moving in the right direction but is certainly a work in progress.  They got steamrolled last night on the short week after a very physical NFC East game but they aren't a bad team.  Also, they just always seem to give us trouble at least once a year and often in Philly no matter how much better the Eagles are overall.  Just one of those things.

I would feel better about the team if the defense wasn't giving up 500 yards of offense against mediocre teams. Tyreek hill is probably going to break every single-game receiving record when we play the Dolphins.

We aren't going to win anything getting into shootouts every game, and the offensive playcalling is brutal

I like this one too

The whole thread is pretty fun

This and the last season I went to forums and watched youtube from teams that lost. I was just curious if ‘negadelphia’ is a thing given how horrible I find our GDT to be when things aren’t going our way.

I found that the fans of other teams say exactly the same things. Like, full copy/paste. Playcalling sucks, why can’t we get this guy targets.. It was funny!

I guess it’s just a loud minority that just has to b… and moan whenever anything goes wrong but I’ll admit it does make me feel better to see it’s not just us, it’s the same everywhere.

I remember it was different once, before we won the SB. There was a certain doom and gloom attitude, saying stuff like we’ll never win one and things will eventually turn to sh.. but we finally got over that, thank god.

We’ll lose again eventually and I know some people are just waiting to crawl out of their hole - but now there is a real sense of pride and confidence in here even though it’s mainly in the people that don’t post their opinions over and over again. And while I should be above stuff like that I’ll admit it does add to my happiness that things have turned around like that.

Feels like we're here every year where we have a close game and people start up with the

'man if <team that is deemed to be sub par this year>  can put up 350 yards of offense against us,  Randy Moss / Larry Fitz / Julio Jones / Tyreek Hill is going to go for about 600 yards on their own, this reminds me of that other year'

Eagles 41- Rams 20

Stafford to throw a red zone pick, Sweat to pick up 2.5 sacks.

@mattwill

Need to keep penalties down, get ground game going to set up deep ball and control the clock.

@mattwill  Eagles 31. Rams 27

@mattwill

i lack confidence in the defense and Jurgens is out vs Donald. west coast travel but will probably sound like a home game. Will be a three point game i figure

eagles 30 rams 27

Procus is is almost at a Bacarty level when it comes to bad takes, so this is great news for our changes the rest of the way.

Imagine getting 40 points put on you by the 0-4 bears....

Jesus, it just keeps on coming with the same message on here, oh noes...the Eagles aren't blowing teams out.....

Week 1 - In a monsoon, playing the Patriots on the road, on Tom Brady day against Belichick (one of the greatest defensive coaches in history), Eagles win game was never really in doubt

Week 2 - Playing the Vikings against all of their offensive weapons, the Eagles took control of that game and while the score looked closer than it was, the Eagles win game was never really in doubt

Week 3 - Eagles beat the Bucs, the game was never in doubt (also in a monsoon)

Week 4 - Divisional game, this one I was not happy about, especially not running out the clock to kick a field goal at the end of the game, the Eagles still won

So they are 4-0 with two new coordinators, they have played games without Dean, Blankenship, Bradberry, Maddox, Dickerson, Jurgens (a ton of other injuries on top of these).....and add on top they are doing this in spite of the Super Bowl loss hangover and getting every teams best shot.

Would I love to see them holding teams to 10 points while scoring 50?  Sure!  Is the schedule going to get a lot harder and they are going to have to play better?  Yep!  But some of you are so miserable, that you'd **** about not being able to breathe great with a super hot chick sitting on your face!  With this season (and the scenario I just mentioned), just f'ing learn to enjoy!!

The Eagles need to do some serious film study comparing those two games.

Nah. Washington didn't show up. Just look at the tackling effort.

Those were the heroes of my childhood. My favorite team of any sport ever. That loss to the team I hate the most still haunts me. Penn beat them 6 out of 7 times over that era and were obviously the superior team. Yet they lost that one game by a score that suggests something different. It's a disappointment that I still carry.

Also, I think you're thinking of Digger Phelps. Chuck Daly was coaching Boston College at the time. Phelps was the assistant to Harter and got the Fordham gig for one year before going to Notre Dame. Daly replaced Harter at Penn when he went to Oregon.

You're right. I was conflating coaches. BTW, did you know that "Digger" Phelps got the nickname because his father was an undertaker?

That was a golden era in the Big 5. Les Keiter tickling the twine. Watch this vignette. Ringtailed howitzer. etc.

I still think Kenny Durrett from LaSalle was the best player ever to play in the Big 5, until he tore up his knee.

Rams 44

Eagles 35

This defense let Sam Howell throw all over them. Stafford throws for 500 and 5 TDs

It was a short week, a lot of guys out, many gifts from refs, divisional game. I don't think the Rams have a chance in this one. Stafford will get sacked a ton and may not finish the game.

OT short week deflation. They were still in their feelings about that L. We gave them the 'Nice try' - Tim Duncan
