Feels like this offseason they are gonna make a big pitching move if they don’t win the WS.

I’m guessing he’s gonna be on a snap count. Would be surprised if he plays his normal snaps his first week back.

I think the Turner thing is a big deal.  Even Bohm.  It's one of the few teams/cities in MLB where you can matter...by that I mean play meaningful games in front of an amped up crowd.  On top of that, the players do seem to have an interesting bond with each other and with the fans.  I would argue it might be the most *fun* place to play baseball right now.

Without a doubt.  What the fans did for Turner this year legitimately turned his season around.

I hated Villanova with a passion back then and I strongly disliked LaSalle. St. Joe's and Temple I merely didn't care for. I always rooted for the visitors anytime those four teams were playing. And I worshiped Penn. They were the one team across all the sports that I was passionate about at that age. And I loved watching Big 5 games on television. It was such a great scheme whereby there was almost a game being played any night of the week. Saturdays were the best of course, with doubleheaders often with a city series game being the nightcap. I spent many an evening in my parents bedroom watching the old black & white set while the rest of the family was in the living room watching the crap shows my sisters would have on. I believe Penn went 19-1 over a five year stretch in the city series, the only loss being to Temple in Chuck Daly's first Big 5 game.

I thought the best player of that era was Mike Bantom. He, Durrett, and Porter were the obvious stars. Yet somehow Chris Ford ended up having the best NBA career out of all of them.

The Palestra was such a great venue for basketball. Small, intimate, loud, passionate. You were so close! I remember seeing Drexel beat Navy there when the Admiral, David Robinson, was there. He scored 50+ but Drexel pulled it out at the end.

Rollie's defeat of Georgetown was great to watch and experience, but I'll never forgive him for destroying the Big 5. Wright tried to revive it but it's not the same.

But I won't be able to watch it live now.  That's annoying.

You get excited to watch preseason 76ers?

CBP might be the best place to just watch a playoff game. The crowd is into it from the first pitch to the last out. It’s like a giant party and intimidating to opposing fans. Like Jeff passan said it’s a SEC stadium but they play baseball. Heck before the HR, everyone in that park was singing Bryson Stott’s walk up music. Not sure I’ve heard that and if i have it’s been years since.

Schefter learns that combativeness is a symptom of a concussion so he walks back his earlier report by suggesting it was a league investigation.  He’s so anxious to be first that he throws out a lot of crap.

My dad took me to games there back in the early 70s. We went to both high school District 1 playoffs and college games.  Penn was our favorite team as Bob Morse was the local star from Kennett but mom liked Villanova for some reason.  I remember being so crushed when Villanova destroyed Penn in that 1971 regional final to get to the final four (sorry to remind you about that game Franklin).  Anyway, I loved that building and dreamed of playing there which was finally fulfilled in 1980 when I played in the District 1 final to a packed house as part of a triple header.  We lost but I'll relish that moment forever.

Hard not to choose Porter as the best from that era and Bantom was great.  Haigler was pretty darn good as well and then there was Brooks.  In the end, I liked Calhoun though he probably wasn't quite as good as those others.

Curious if anyone has ever taken note of who is usually right and who just throws crap to the wall and ignores when they're wrong

Yeah, Corky was a great defensive player but his offense was nonexistent. Fortunately, he had that backcourt and Morse was a great jump shooter. I'll still go with Durrett as the best but that injury ruined him. He was still a good player but a shadow of what he was before that, kind of like Wes Hopkins.

I’m guessing with 2 days off and Sunday off then followed by wheeler game 2 that the plan is Suarez gets 1 time through the order. if he gets into trouble it becomes a heavy bullpen game. Guys are gonna be fresh so might see some extended innings

Getting paid a crap load of $$$ helps too, the Phillies have pushed chips forward on the table.

@mattwill

Driving down to the game....I am not optimistic, but.... The Eagles will need to score more than 30 to win.

Eagles 38

Rams 35

I declined on Sunday Ticket this year for the first time in like 10 years.  Just couldn't justify it with how many national/prime time games we have.

That said, this is the first week Im going to have to try a reddit stream so I hope like hell they still work.

Maybe try being less poor.

Middleton has done a good job putting his money where his mouth is. And getting others in there that also want to spend. Also did a good job securing harper when klentak was wanting machado and harper situation felt like it was going off the rails til he stepped in and met with Bryce

Has anyone noticed that the Eagles pro shop has basically no white jerseys? I like to wear the same as the team, but I've been trying to order a white custom jersey with "McNabb" on it (for my deceased dog, not the QB) for a while with no luck. I'm going to have to roll with my white 11 jersey with the nameplate removed for the game this weekend...
