Don't know if anyone looks at CBS Sports, but their 'bold predictions' have gotten crazier and crazier as the season nears.  This is the lastest --

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/five-bold-predictions-for-2023-nfl-season-jaguars-trevor-lawrence-wins-mvp-saints-earn-no-1-seed-in-nfc/

TL:DR;

1) Derek Carr is such a huge upgrade at QB that the Saints will have the best record in the NFC.

2) Packers win NFC North.  Because every other NFC North team has question marks.

3) Dalton Kincaid (TE, Buf) wins OROY because he was targeted a lot in the preseason.

4) AJ Brown leads the league in receiving yards.

5) Trevor Lawrence wins MVP

--

Seriously wish this writer guy would put some wager on his 'bold predictions'.  Something like he has to shave his eyebrows off if all are wrong.

1.  Saints will win the division, but won't get the #1 seed.  Mostly because the rest of that division is putrid.

2.  Nope.  They don't think Jordan Love is a question mark?  I still say Minny

3.  I like Kincaid, but I'm not sure he's an immediate breakout star.  I'd say no.

4.  Very doubtful, because the Eagles have too many targets on offense for that to happen.  Some teams have one guy who gets force-fed the ball.

5.  Nope.  How quickly they forget Lawrence threw 4 INT in the first half of their wildcard playoff game.

Forever got Love for Andy, but he made a horrific decision going on 4th and 25 with 3 timeouts on your end of the field.   The Defense was playing well enough to trust them at that point.

B.S.  There isn't one play in the Rams playbook where Kupp isn't part of the progression.  The guy got 224 targets during that 2021 season and playoffs.

Yeah, this is just an armchair analyst looking for another reason to take a kick at Jared Goff because he refused to go along with the narrative that he was a terrible QB and became just a solid but unspectacular starting QB in Detroit, like there's a QB alive who's never missed a blown coverage opportunity. Kupp was like read 1 every passing play in LA that year.

Herbert was beat up with broken ribs the first half of season last year and still went 10-7. Can see Chiefs losing another 6 games. Based on a slow start here and could go 1-4 in first 5 games.

Chiefs haven't won less than 11 games since 2014.  They lost last night's game by 1 point in which they blew it themselves repeatedly with dropped balls.

Chargers have a HC they should have fired last year and kept just because the ownership is too cheap.  Unless Mahomes gets injured then the Chiefs are winning the AFC West.

I go with

Jets

Bengals

Jags

Chargers

Eagles

Lions

Saints

Niners

AFC
Dolphins
Chiefs
Steelers
Titans
Chargers
Bills
Bengals

NFC
Eagles
Niners
Falcons
Packers
Seahawks
Vikings
Giants

@mattwill

Eagles 24

Patriots 20

I haven't been on twitter or x or whatever, but has Ojomo been practicing? I don't anticipate him to play and may not even be active, but curious if hes fully back yet.

I don't think the a lot of these prediction you have listed are all that crazy.

The Saints have a cupcake schedule and you could argue the best team they play against is the Jags/Giants. They very well could have the best record but still not be a great team.

NFC North is a toss up between Packers/Vikings/Lions, so its not outlandish to pick the packers.

Kincaid winning OROY is the most bold here since TEs seem to take awhile before things click for them. Pitts was one of the few rookie TE that actually did anything.

AJ Brown leading in receiving yards is very possible since I anticipate the Eagles to throw more since they have a tougher schedule and won't have as many big leads in the 4th quarter.

Lawrence winning MVP isn't out of the realm of possibility, things really started to click with him halfway through last year. Could see him take quite a leap with his 2nd year in Doug's system like Wentz did.

I really hope AJ Brown does not lead the league in receiving yards. If he does, it probably meant that Smith missed a lot of the year due to injury.  And vice versa.

Rhamondre Stevenson not at practice.

That actually makes a lot of sense.

Sorry. They are not winning 11 games with that brutal schedule and no Chris Jones til who knows when. Means they have to go 11-5 rest of the way. Kelce is uncertain for next week. Bone bruises can take a bit to fully heal. Came into stadium limping in badly. Got treatment and looked a little better on sidelines. Could barely put weight on it. They have a lot of question marks right now.

How many games have they played without Kelce in that span?  He was their only Receiver over 1000 yards last year, they don't have a receiver that has a 1000yard season on the books right now, and Rashee Rice as a rookie isn't exactly a home run prospect.

What? No it doesn't

They barely played the 4th and he was 300 yards away from Justin Jefferson as the most receiving yards.

Smith was 9th most.

I don't think it's all that bold of a prediction to say that AJ Brown may not even lead the Eagles in receiving yards.  We've got some talent at receiver, and Devonte Smith is gonna get some yards, too.

I'd argue 13 wins is the bare minimum for the best record in the NFC.  Saints at 13+ wins?  No way.  An easy schedule will only get you so far.  I'm also not sold on Derek Carr.  He had Adams in LV and they were terrible.  10 or 11 wins?  Sure, I'm there.  13 or 14 wins?  No way.

Lawrence with MVP is probably the least bold.  It's possible.  I don't know that they have the talent around him yet to get to an MVP level of campaign.

This would be an excellent point to make if Kelce were our for the season,  but he's not snd will be back for week 2 seeing as he almost played last night.

Not necessarily. Brown was 4th overall in yards last year and trailed Jefferson by a little more than 300 yards. With Browns 17 yards per reception, he would only need slightly more than 1 additional reception per a game last year.

He didn't almost play last night. Wasn't even close.

I'll bet you $100 that Kelce plays next week.

They cam have all the question makes in the world, they have the league's best QB and HC.  Meanwhile the Chargers have a God awful HC.  Coaching matters.  Bad coaching matters.  Chargers will not win the division.

Overreact toWA week 1 result more.

I'd say he's 50/50 next week at best. He may play thru it. It's a pain tolerance thing with a bone bruise. Probably should hold him out 1 more week. I'll be happy to bet you on Chiefs not reaching 11 wins. Division is up for grabs right now.  May be a 10-7 tie breaker situation.

Guarantee the Patriots will target Evans in the passing game if he starts. He's gonna want to test the safeties and LBs.
