Was hoping for a tie as well, but kind of knew, that wasn’t going to happen.

Still don’t understand them going for it from the 7 yard line. Take the extra point.

Too many coaches get to cute with these constant risky 4th downs etc.. They refuse to take easy points like it was in the old days. Now it’s all about analytics.

Oh, I knew it was extremely unlikely.... but taking the PAT there gets it to OT, which makes it more likely... though not more likely than one team or the other still winning, but once in OT...

Eagles for whatever reason always seem to have some struggles with the Cardinals. We have beaten them more of late, though.

But man, they suck this year.  We should keep the ball for 35 min plus and score 30+.

One of the funniest movies ever. IMO

That scene gives us all a chance, no matter the circumstances 😂😂😂

Doesn’t it already look extremely bad?! I think people would/could go easier on it if they would just admit they messed up. People make mistakes and refs do it all the time. Be man enough to admit you screwed up. It’s not thaaaaat hard. But I guess deny, deny, deny - reflect has entrenched itself in more places than just the NFL.😅

It absolutely does, but imagine the **** storm if they came out and said "Yeah, we made a mistake and cost a team a shot at the two seed for the Dallas Cowboys"

@mattwill

I’ve lost almost all confidence in the offense to get it together. It’s week 17 and this team has yet to put together a complete game.

Eagles: 24

cards: 13

Bonus: Eagles remember they are a run team as Swift goes for 100+ on the ground.

This game should be a blow out and the Eagles should handle them easily. If they struggle with the cards, it’s going to be quite disappointing and the flame should be turned all the way up on Siri/BJ.

Yeah, you’re probably right.

I think they should definitely keep that official out of the playoffs to set an example. I just don’t get it. They have picked up flags before after a discussion. This is just a horrible look all around.

They care about the money, in both cases.  So, until the fans of both stop paying for crap, they won't care.   Its why I don't watch Thursday Night Football (and I already had a Prime Membership, so it would have cost me nothing to tune in).   Until people start to refuse to watch and refuse to pay for the inferior product that is being paraded around, nothing will change.  I haven't tuned in to more than maybe a quarter of any bowl game this year.   Why would I?  One of the major things I would look for was how the highly rated prospects performed on a bigger stage, against better competition.... but now these guys almost all skip the bowls.  And now, they have the transfer portal open BEFORE the bowls, and players skip because of that too.   I started calling players out when they first started skipping bowl games in order to 'prepare for the draft'.  McCaffrey did it, and I don't like him because of it.  One of the Bosa brothers decided to skip about half to 2/3rds of the season because of it.   And we've seen what these players have ended up winning at the next level.  McCaffrey has a shot this year, but he plays for a guy that's known for regular season successes only to crumble in crunch time, including one of the worst crumbles in the history of the Super Bowl.   I'll believe in the 49ers when I see it actually happen, and not a moment sooner.   Their track record is what it is.

The products, right now, are still raking in huge sums of money.   When that golden goose starts to taper off, that is when we will see meaningful change.   With the NFL, instead of looking at fixing the bad officiating, they are looking to change rules in the NFL that will be even harder to properly AND CONSISTENTLY enforce properly.  They want to ban the Shove/Push.  They want to change the touchback rule for a fumble in the end zone... etc.    How about they work on getting better officials and make the mechanics of the game better WITHOUT changing rules.

With the NCAA, they are just expanding the playoff, but still doing nothing about the rest of the bowl games, in fact, they might be making them worse in the process.

That's what's frustrating. Us consumers still watch the product. I'm like you, I haven't watched much of any of the bowls. There was a day that I would watch a good amount and not just bits and pieces but entire games. We're only scratching the surface of college football as we know it seeing as next year everything changes. It's sad knowing that something you loved is just never going to be the same. Part of it is growing up and interests change, but the other part is the implemented changes in the product. Watching the Peach Bowl yesterday the announcers were talking about the "veterans" Ole Miss was adding to the team for make one last Championship push with this team. That's not college football. College football should be "which freshman or sophomore is going to take that next step to fill a hole or who are we excited to see as a true freshman?" Not a team has 9 veterans coming in from the transfer portal. Not only that but it also takes away any kind of team loyalty. If you're an Oklahoma fan for instance, do you consider Dylan Gabriel a Sooner? I wouldn't. He could have come back and said we aren't finished but instead he ran to Oregon who might clean up in the Big10. Maybe he was scared of OU in the SEC. Oregon in the Big10 and OU in the SEC, just another example of the direction we are headed. UGH.

Then you look at the NFL...Christmas Day ratings, I think the Eagles game had nearly 10x the viewers of the NBA games combined. People love the NFL and football. Sadly, the NFL is raking in cash hand over fist. We're going to see a declining product, more parity and more exclusive content as more and more games are going to be available on paid streaming services.

Anyone out here tailgating? First time I’ve been to the Linc in 15 yrs.

Campbell took the extreme high road despite his anger.   I would have said something along the lines of, "They TOLD ME, that this guy reported and not that guy... and that only one guy can report.  These are all false narratives and we practiced this a million times and even told the refs about it pregame so that when the situation arose, they'd be prepared and not screw it up."  Take the fine.  And when the fine comes, ask if this money will be used to reward the "incompetence" of the refs or if it will be used to get them the training they so desperately require.   And then pay the SECOND fine.

If there ever was a time for a coach to say F it, I'll pay the fine and go after the issue at hand, last night was it and Dan Campbell is the coach you think would do it. Not saying his money isn't valuable to him but Campbell is making over $2 million per year. Stand up for yourself and your team and pay the fine. Hell, I'm sure the ownership might even cover it for him. The NFL deserves all the criticism and finger pointing they are getting. They need a coach to rip them a new one one of these days.

Who really benefitted from this call? Dallas’ playoff seed doesn’t change with this play. But Detroit’s does; this now assures Philadelphia is the 2 seed.

Think about how mammoth that is: assuming the favorites win on WC weekend, this means the divisional round game is Detroit at Philly instead of Philly at Detroit. If we end up in the NFCCG again, Brad Allen will have a huge amount to do with it.

Found him!

Are we talking about the guy next to Bacarty? Who’s that

Win, lose or draw...I'm just so happy to finally have a 1pm game.

My co-workers theory that the fix is in for Philly and Big Dom is in the Philly mafia might have some legs to it after all🤣

We should be thrilled that the call went in Dallas's favor because it helped us but it's just so blatantly obvious of how bad it was that I don't care if in the long run the Eagles benefit.

I'm happy with last night's game.  Both teams looked OK but not great, Eagles have clear path to the 2 seed, and if San Fran can have 1 mediocre performance in the next week the Eagles can be the 1 seed.  1pm EST game for San Fran today.  Hope WA runs it a lot today.

Would have been both.  The old #68 was uncovered on the end of the line, making him eligible BY FORMATION.

Interestingly the rigging of the system for Dallas stops outside of Texas though. Lol.  Can't buy a road game it seems.

Yeah I didn't recall the rule correctly. I thought for a player to be lined up next to or as an OT in tight on the line, they had to be a yard off otherwise they would be considered uncovered and thus ineligible. The rule is much simpler though, the outer most player on the line, regardless of their spacing to the center or the rest of the OL, is considered eligible so long as he reports (if he's an OL).

And any players between him and the other outer most player on the LOS are considered ineligible by formation. So in 13 personnel, that's why the outer most TE is a yard off, not because of their spacing like I thought, but to make sure the TE next to them isn't covered and deemed ineligible. In those cases, there's no need to report because they have a non-tackle designation due to their number.

I love the NFL and college football so much but both products are internally flawed and going in the wrong direction fast. IMO, nothing better than a disaster bowl season and clear as day referee mistakes might be needed to right the ships for both of these sports. The NFL CAN'T ignore this? Can they? They have to make changes. Just like NCAA needs to get the transfer portal and opt outs under control. If they don't we know they don't give s flying you know what about the integrity and direction the game is going.

$$$ has killed the integrity of the college game.

The Eagles need The Fix.  Hope we see it in DC today.

@mattwill

Better late than never. Eagles have another too close for comfort encounter.

Eagles - 27

Cardinals - 24

Bonus: D with 2+ sacks

Nowadays, my response would be in a sarcastic tone "I thought we played a heck of a game. Speak to X or Y in the NFL Head Office and let me know what they say. I can pass on their contact details if you don't have them?  Next question" . The NFL would hate that level of snark but it breaks no rules of detrimental conduct, etc.

10 years ago, I'd have pushed everyone under the bus, ran them over and reversed over them to make sure they were not alive.  It's just pointless effort nowadays as nothing ever changes and I'd rather burn the money in a firepit than give it to the NFL. It also means they can't hide behind the HC said mean things

Would it surprise anyone if Jerruh was bribing or blackmailing officials?

@mattwill

Eagles 35

Cardinals 23

*Hurts 4 TD passes

🤣

@Iggles_Phan and @bpac55 and anyone else who has soured on what we see. This is from The Dead of Winter, a very fine detective novel by Stephen Mack Jones. I haven't gone quite this far but...

I've given up on football.

Not just the Lions (who perpetually break my heart) but the NFL in general: Millionaire babies taking the field to shuck, jive and juke for elderly billionaire plantation masters. The players who do take a stand by kneeling are vilified, nullified and ostracized. And fans continue to subsidize the cirque du soulless in some publicly funded, corporate-owned stadium with the audacity to charge ten dollars for a cup of warm beer, eight dollars for cold hot dogs and ninety dollars for jerseys bearing terminally concussed gridiron legends' names and numbers.

Dear God.

Never mind the fact that the rules of a once-simple sport have become so complicated that it takes a team of Harvard Law professors to unravel them during a two-minute time-out or a video penalty challenge.

Football's not a game anymore.

It's two-hours of Wall Street traders, stock analysts, happy-ending-massage-parlor escapades, drug addicts and wife-beaters bashing helmets.

It's Spartacus without the honor or drama.
