There are arguments to be made about giving Nick a year to fix things, and I wouldn't kick and scream if they ultimately did.

But, I just can't get past the thought of being one of the top teams to being completely non-competitive.

No hyperbole, I'm seriously not sure we would even beat CAR right now.

Someone posted a tweet last night with the Eagles ranked 31st and 32nd in every major category for the last 8 weeks.

I'm just not sure how you can run that back.

Pretty much.

So the biggest thing to talk about with Jalen is whether the lack of motion, hot routes, under center plays and passes over the middle are him or the playcaller. Surely it’s a bit of both, but how much?

Unfortunately these aren’t things we will get the answer to, although it did leak from somewhere that Hurts wasn’t happy with the offense, particularly the short to middle passing game and passes over the middle.

The answer comes with time and years.  With the new staff, if he’s still a mediocre passer who is a 200 yard per game guy whose biggest strength is rushing tds…then we have our answer.  If he returns to 2022, then we know it was the coaches.

Sirianni should get a couple years to fix this

Yeah good luck with that.

We start the game 2 Carries for 12 yards to Swift, he gets just 2 more touches for the rest of the half. Just 6 more for the second half.

Who told this team you can’t run against a stacked box? It’s actually where you pop off a lot of huge runs because the 3rd level is so bare.

Offense got out coached consistent

Only good thing about the playoffs is the Cowboys lost. Outside of that the playoffs were a total waste of time. The players clearly didn’t want to be there. No one showed any emotion outside of a few.

Agree. Ringo has a lot of growing to do, but playing snaps now will help his career later in the year. Bradberry offered little than no arms or alligator tackles.

Yup i think we would have all rather seen ringo take his lumps as a rookie but eagles paid bradberry so much they werent going to sit him.

Just an atrocious evaluation and contract by Howie who had a dumpster fire of a year.

As much praise as Howie deserves for 2017 he deserves just as much blame if not more for this year, especially if the reports of him being responsible for demoting Desai are true.

That single move was and epic fail.

He’s shown zero ability to adjust. He made the same mistakes over and over.

There's also Isaiah Rodgers, whatever that's worth.

Probably nothing but cant be worse than maddox....

I see Siri sticking around another year as lose/lose.  If things aren’t better, we lose a year.  If things are better with a new OC, that OC is leaving for a HC job…and we probably should have just fired Siri and hired whomever that new OC is.

Bill Simmons believes that BB will be the Eagles next HC.

The biggest concern to me if you run it back with Nick and a lot of the same players on this team is what happens if/when they hit a 2-3 game skid next season? It’s part of the game and it happens. Teams lose two in a row all the time and it doesn’t derail a season. But if that happens I think they’ll get PTSD to this year all over again.

The SF and DAL losses were bad. But there is no reason why it should have torpedoed the season with the ease of schedule they had to close out. San Francisco broke this team and they were never able to recover. They didn’t even struggle as an average team. They turned into a bottom two team the remainder of the way.

The best part of this play is that Hurts hit Smith in the hands and it should have been a touchdown.

He threw a 50-50 ball.  The DB was underneath the route.  He needed to put it out in front to give Smith a better angle to the ball than the defender.   A 50-50 ball is not 'hitting Smith in the hands'.   Smith could have made the catch, but the defenders get paid too.   50-50 wasn't good enough in that spot.   Of course, Hurts' deep balls generally fall short of the mark and end up as 50-50 balls, even without a busted finger.  Fortunately, he has Brown and Smith who are willing and able to high point the ball and make the grab often.  But that wasn't a great throw.

I will admit, I was pretty skeptical as to whether Smitty could ball out without AJ on the other side to draw coverage.

I guess I can move on from that.

I don’t get the obsession with BB. Was he a good coach sure. But he’s never won anything without Brady.

Smitty was the only one showing effort. Amazing he did anything with the likes of Watkins, OZ, and Jones on the other side. I’d a just triple teamed Smitty and dare them to throw elsewhere.

Hed be the perfect coach to put howie back in the basement and lurie back in the owners box where he belongs.

Yeah they never should’ve demoted desai in week 15. Defense still wouldn’t have been good enough. But i do think players saw it and had a poor response and you got what was coming to you for doing it.

Lol...Defense was not good enough.  That's why they did it.

So I think the biggest indictment of this team was this week....you KNEW Tampa was going to blitz.  You had time to prepare......and they came out with a game plan that looked like they never heard of the word blitz before.  Nope, fire 'em all.

The trouble isn't that they didn't know the blitz was coming, it was that they were powerless to do anything about it.  If they had any ideas, they'd have shown something over the last 7 weeks.  They are clueless when it comes to defeating a blitz.

I don't, but with the caveat of there needs to be significant renovations in the Novacare for it to be sustainable.  A new OC is in order and the D needs a complete overhaul, top to bottom A younger D roster and more relevant NFL scheme, coached by someone who isn't a bit odd but a nice guy..  It could turn around quickly, especially with other teams on a rebuild mode.

But it will be hard for him as there will be little wiggle room left

You know. For there being so many older people on this board, it sure does feel like the instant gratification generation has infected this place. I acknowledge that you said potential but geez, it feels like every rookie has to hit the ground running and every year has to be a Super Bowl year or deep playoff run for people not to be immediately fired into the sun these days.

In a lot of ways I almost feel like the Super Bowl win in 2018 and then the loss last year ruined the fanbase.

Yes, It would be nice to be KC but playoffs in 6 of 7 years and winning and losing a SB ain't a bad track record.

But it's time for Howie to stop patching and build a team, but I think he knew that, he's bee collecting extra picks the last couple years while fielding a winner.

Now he has to blow it up and rebuild, but the last time he did it it took one season to turn it around, I'll be happy if he takes two seasons this time. 😎

This is going to be one of those years where half the defense is brand new. Realistically who stays? Reddick, Carter, Davis… I guess Dean is back only to get injured again. Outside of that who comes back? Slay?

Is there a position on this team that we can legitimately say they don't have a need?

Placekicker.  Right tackle, but even then, they need depth there because Lane always gets dinged and isn't going to last more than another 2 or so years.

I'm just now hearing the post-game interviews with players, specifically Hurts, and what in the actual F am I listening to?

"Sometimes it's just not your turn."
"It just wasn't our turn."
"It wasn't our turn and I accept that."

WHAT?!

I think I’m more upset and angry this morning than I was at all last night because Jason Kelce retired and that was the crap Fing effort they gave. Like if he’s gonna go out, then at least call fight and play hard like he did his 13 years. They couldn’t even do that for like seven Fing weeks. And I know that locker room had to know that was coming. And for seven Fing weeks, they couldn’t even do that once. And I know that locker room had to know that was coming.I don’t even feel bad for myself or Eagles fans. Because that’s the life of being a sports fan. but the fact that that Fing team couldn’t even give Jason Kelce a decent sendoff pisses me the F off.
