Kelce should be, but his position really holds him back.

For comparison’s sake, take Dermontti Dawson. Dawson was a 6x first team AP, 7x pro bowler, 1990’s NFL All-Decade team with 181 career starts. Basically the most recent direct comparison to Kelce we have as far as achievements.

Dawson was a finalist 3 consecutive times before finally being elected into the HOF.

Now, Kelce has a much higher media presence, which helps, but the fact is that centers just don’t get in on the first ballot very often.

Kelce is a slam dunk first ballot with his celebrity status.

We’ll see. I think he SHOULD be, but I’m maybe 50/50 he will be a first ballot guy. I mean, even Dawkins wasn’t first ballot.

He had to have pinched a nerve or had been in shock. Either that or the man has the highest pain tolerance ever the way he calmly called for the staff to come out.

Shock is the most likely scenario.

I feel like Dawkins was more of a local celebrity than national. He didn’t get the recognition nationally that polamalu and Reed got

Dawkins was absolutely as well known nationally.  He was on one of the decades best teams that played in a ton of nationally televised games including playoff games with a very popular and notable play style and theatrics to his on field persona.  Dawkins never won a ring while playing on a team that had a very high number of chances to meanwhile Troy and Reed did win rings and Defensive Player of the Year awards.  When Dawkins came up he should have gone first ballot but he was probably brought down due to the of Troy and Reed having the bigger ultimate career accomplishments in their careers.

With Kelce not only has established himself as this great unique center but has also matched all those 1st team All Pros with a Super Bowl win and another Super Bowl appearance with a different HC and QB and who knows what comes with this year.  Plus he has all the national media attention and love with his podcast, documentary and just who his brother is and all that will only help.

Kelce will be a first ballot- the only way he wouldn't is if there are 5 other first ballot HOF's eligible that year....

If Eagles go 3-0 in their next 3 games then they would clinch the division with a win in Dallas on Christmas Eve on SNF.  I think if they did that and went 12-1 and locking up the division then Hurts would have the MVP all but locked up.

You contradicted yourself in the first paragraph

His stats are meh, especially when discussing MVP numbers.

Personally, I’d vote for AJ Brown over Hurts if we’re talking league MVP

Everyone’s stats are meh this year. Hurts’ are almost 1-to-1 with Mahomes’, except for rushing stats where Hurts laps him

Apples & Oranges imo.  Duce was older and a RB - (more strain/power needed to run his style of running).  Dean is young and just needs to get healed up enough not to lose major speed.   Big difference, imo.

Not sure that is accurate.  Maybe @HazletonEagle can weigh in.  I went to the NIH abstracts on studies and found this:

Most athletes were able to return to sport after undergoing open reduction and internal fixation of a ligamentous Lisfranc injury by less than 30 weeks post-surgery with a subjective value of 87% of their previous function. However, the majority of the patients also experienced some residual pain with their respective sport.

Not sure Dean succeeds at 87% of his previous function based on what we saw this year.  Maybe I am being pessimistic but still……

Super bowl on nfl network if anyone feels like

Nick should have gone on it 3rd and short on the Eagles side of the field.  I forget if that was late 3rd quarter or early 4th.  But I suppose I'll see.

It all depends on how disfiguring the injury was. There is such a wide range, lis franc is to vague to know whats going on there. It can be anywhere from a subtle gap between some tarsal bones only visible in weight bearing images, to, every single metatarsal is dislocated in every which way, and might be some fractures too.

He's on pace for 5,030 total yards, 41 total TDs, with a 68.9% completion percentage and in my scenario on the way to a 16-1 or 15-2 season record.

AJ is a top candidate for Offensive Player of the Year.

That Miles fumble that got called back on review happened in the 3rd.  Wow, I thought that happened in the first half before Jalen's fumble.

If Kelce is likely to retire after this season, it just needs to be asked who else HOF worthy will also be?

Come on Beavs!!

So we’re playing the Giants on Christmas Day and the Cowboys on Christmas Eve? Wow, this really is a tough schedule.

Except for the part about playing the giants ... the giants ...

Might as well play them twice that day and get those over with.

Kelce was slam dunk before his celebrity status in in my opinion…he was pretty popular before this recent, more elevated, celebrity status
