Theres something Kelce has that a lot of other OL cant say. Its not his celebrity status either. There have been some very good OL. Even well known names. With accolades and such. HOF resumes for sure.

But Kelce revolutionized the position in the NFL. Theres a lot of greats who were just doing the thing everyone else did, at a higher level. Their position was the same before them, and remained the same after them. But Kelce was a whole new type of player that changed how OLs could function.

Everyone’s stats are meh this year. Hurts’ are almost 1-to-1 with Mahomes’, except for rushing stats where Hurts laps him

That’s pretty much it…I think that’s why some are looking for others away from the QB position.  Plus some are just tired of a QB winning it all the time.  I get it, but they do play the most valuable position.

If Mariota was playing vs KC but we still had AJ Brown, the Eagles would be about 7.5-8 point underdogs.  If AJ Brown was out but Hurts was playing, I’d guess it would move the line from Eagles +2.5 to about +3.5…maybe +4.  There’s your answer.

Yeah, it's a very down year for QBs across the board. Even Mahomes is having a sub-par year compared to his standards.

I don’t think the old guys voting on HOF care about a podcast. Kelce will make it, but I would be surprised if it’s first ballot. The HoF rules are pretty stupid which hurts his chances. Brady, Watt, Gronk, Roethlisberger, Whitworth and AJ Green are all eligible the year or two before also who some of which will be first ballot and push more guys back.

So we’re playing the Giants on Christmas Day and the Cowboys on Christmas Eve? Wow, this really is a tough schedule.

That's just how it is when you play a first place schedule.  Get used to it.

When it comes to offensive lineman visibility matters when they are playing a position where if they are any good at it they shouldn't be that visible since they won't be giving up blown snaps or sacks.  But Kelce is visible because he is so athletic he can get to the second level at a top speed and throw great blocks down the field.  He's also now very visible because he plays one of the top two most important roles in the success of the Brotherly Shove along with Jalen.  It's going to go down as the most dominant signature play that a team ever had even though it's only for short yardage.  No one else can do it but the Eagles and they will do it deep on their own side of the field on 4th and short because no one can stop it.  Kelce is huge in it.  That's major visibility every time that play happens.

And yeah his podcast is visibility as well.  I think old guys voting for HOF do care about it.  I think they see it as a nod to sports media and an appreciation for it that Kelce intends to enter that after retirement from pro football.  He's not a jackass or a hot take artist.  His manner and style on that podcast is soaked up by the NFL media with HOF votes.  He had an all time great sports documentary come out that was the most NFL films style anything at times than anything that the NFL has put out in years.

Kelce will be HOF first ballot.  Both of them.

Potential for two future 3rd round picks?

I believe the circumstances for a WR winning it are too extreme. Every scenario where a WR had an MVP caliber season, he was dependent on a credit-sharing QB who threw for an enormous amount of yards or 40+ tds or had an all around MVP contending season such as Jalen is having. 2021 Kupp had 4800 yard, 41 TD Matt Stafford. 2012 Megatron had 5000 yard, 40 TD Matt Stafford. 2007 Randy Moss had 5000 yard, 50 TD Tom Brady. Every Jerry Rice MVP caliber season had MVP winners Joe Montana or Steve Young or Rich Gannon throwing him the ball.

It needs to be a scenario where he goes through 3-4 QBs in a season, or has 1 QB who can’t keep his shoes tied properly when he’s not throwing to that one WR (like 2019 Jameis Winston, but the team would have to be winning in spite of the qb but due to the WR). Any time we have a guy who puts mind boggling stats, he’ll always be dependent on the superb play of a QB who is pilfering MVP votes from him. Tua as well will get some credit for what’s happening in Miami, making it impossible for Hill to win.

The injury list applies to whether a player practices and ultimately to whether a player is an available for the game.  If they had to list every injury, every player would be on the list.  You can’t play football and not have some sort of ding.

Right so I get that… Burrow practiced all week and started the game so I’m not sure the Bengals did much wrong.

@mattwill

24-23 Chiefs win.

KC takes the lead late - Eagles DEs have no sacks (wet field again, officiating crew has the tendency to allow OL to hold).

Our best bets for 2 3rd are Brian Johnson and Brandon Hunt.

I feel pretty confident about Johnson getting a HC job at some point. He'll get "credit" for developing Hurts.

Jeff Saturday, undersized ZB center, trained up by Howard Mudd…

But was he able to do all the things Kelce is able to do? To minimize what Kelce does by just calling him a zone blocking center is not nearly giving him the credit he deserves.

Mikey Sainristill as our next slot corner?

Eagles 23

Chefs 20

Good luck with that.

He was always a lock to return, they were not going to let the best pitcher in the sport walk.

Oh wtf

@mattwill

I don't have any gut feeling about this game at all. However, The Eagles are coming off a bye, have some players returning from injury and damnit, they are just due for a great game.

Eagles- 27

Chiefs- 18

Swift-100 yards on the ground and 30 receiving plus a rushing TD.

Defense- 2 INTs.

Bonus, even thought she won't be in attendance anymore, no less than 5 Taylor Swift mentions and 3 Donna Kelce mentions.
