From a Cowboy fan...

Cowboys next two are very winnable games, after that they have five challenging games:

Seattle, Eagles, Bills, Dolphins, and Lions...Bills and Dolphins are road games.

I fully expect the Cowboys to lose 2 of those games and they will likely finish the season at 12-5. They will be lucky to host a home WC game...the Eagles just need to handle business, they don't need help, you guys need to see the glass way more than half full...the Eagles are in the drivers seat no matter the schedule.

You are new here, so I will help you a little with the psyche of some Philadelphia fans...  It doesn't matter how good it looks, it doesn't matter how 'in control' the team seems to be, there will always be the dread of the bottom falling out from under us all and we come crashing down hard to reality.  So, some never take the plunge and go all in, but always look for how it can go sour.

The 1964 Phillies have caused a scar that has cut through the generations and is somehow into the DNA of the sports fans in this town.   I didn't live through it, but my parents did... and the scars are real for ME and I've tried very hard to rise above it.   But in my lifetime as a fan, I witnessed the championship of the Sixers in 1983, but barely remember it.  More than that championship I remember the poster of the team in my room.  I remember the 2008 Phillies and obviously, I remember the 2017 Eagles.   But those 25 years between 1983 and 2008, it literally felt like I'd never live to see a championship... 100 seasons of close from time to time, but never good enough to get over the hump.  The Flyers in 1984-85 and 1986-87 hit the greatest team ever assembled in the Edmonton Oilers.  The 1985 Flyers had a wonderful young goalie in Pelle Lindburgh, but he died in a drunk driving accident during the 1985-86 season.  The Phillies in 1993 were revered in the city, because they got CLOSE.  We lived through 3 straight NFC CG defeats... including one to close out the Vet.

There are scars, so its hard for some to just enjoy the ride.  Instead, we look for where the train could derail.

Do you worry about the Eagles playing in Detroit?

Everyone should.  That was a tough place to play week 1 of last year.  A very loud dome in the playoffs is always going to be a tough environment to play.

I put some money down on the Lios as #1 seed and best record in the league this psst Friday on some nice payout odds.

Bills defense stinks

We have experienced similar rides through this life of being a fan my friend...

I am a lifelong fan of all the Dallas sports teams...and lived through some great years with the Cowboys going back to the late 70's...to also experience 30 years of mediocrity at best, but I can't help but always hold out hope, until hope is gone. I expect to be let down in January, but until the season is over, there is a chance.

The Stars...it's been what 20 years...and VGK absolutley demolished them last year in the Conference Finals...

Watching the Mavericks get hosed out of a champoinship against the Heat in 2006. They finally won it in 2011...back to mediocrity with an ass of an owner.

Watching the Rangers get one strike away...twice, only to lose the WS in 2011...at least those demons were exorcised this year. 52 years man...lots of real tears over the Ranger's. Honestly, I'll take an early exit from the NFL playoffs in trade of the Ranger's championship, I am not greedy lol.

I love the passion of Philadelphia sports fans, I mean what a great following all the teams up there have. Most of you guys are incredibly intelligent when it comes to your teams and even down to the strategic ins and outs of the game. That's why I followed this board for so long before joining, the X's & O's and even offseason discussions. I can't get enough football and you guys make it interesting vs Cowboy boards...

I have many Eagles fans that are good friends...and it makes for great banter. I don't post much here, because this is ya'lls home, and I treat myself as a guest and appreciate the opportunity to be here. Nothing but respect from me.

Nah, our secondary is garbage, man.  Dak's stats are artificially inflated because they like to run up the score against bad teams.  Story of Dak's career.  This is why he's the only QB in Cowboys history to throw for 10 300 yard games.

I watched some of Stroud Yesterday, he looks a solid player, he did throw a pick that was a poor decision and even worse throw at one point but other than that he's surprisingly good, especially when you consider his receiver room isn't exactly crammed with talent.

Yeah, that's the other thing that gets me.  Stroud's best receiver is a guy that was a 3rd round pick a few years ago.  If he cuts down on his mistakes and they can get someone for him to throw the ball to, watch out!

DeMeco Ryans...it takes players...but he is the reason they are developing ahead of schedule. They are on the rise and will only get better in the next couple of years. It's good to see.

They only thing that worries me about Detroit is they are scoring points well on offense.

They scheme players open well and our secondary has been suspect

4-d Chess. Against US they don't need to be schemed open, they just...will be. All that preparation time WASTED!

They're absolutely ahead of schedule. The downfall of Pierce there has been disappointing to see as I like his running style. But they are a VERY young team and I'm going to enjoy rooting for them in the AFC. I LOVED Dell in the draft, and am thrilled to see what he's been doing.

The Game Score Predictions window for the Chiefs game is open

As always, please tag your prediction post with @mattwill that way I will be sure to see/record it.  Score predictions can also have an optional "Bonus Pick" tiebreaker prediction.  So far over the course of the season 97 different EMB posters have made at least one prediction.

For anyone who missed the results of the first 9 weeks, the link below takes you to a recap of those results

The Texans have 8 picks coming in '24...two 4's and two 7's (no 6th rounder)...how did they get the 3rd from the Eagles?

Eagles traded their third in exchange for a very early fourth in this past draft which the Eagles used to select Kelee Ringo, who hasn't done anything yet and doesn't sniff the field despite numerous injuries in the secondary.

Midway point polling:

1. Who gets more catches the rest of the way out of the following players: Olamide, Julio, Quez?

2. Does Rashaad Penny get a bigger role in the second half of the season?

3. If you could go back in time and swap Nolan Smith for Joey Porter Jr, would you?

4. Does Swift have more rushing yards in the second half of the season than he did in the first half?

5. If you could take a 13-4 record right now, would you take it or no?

Watch this.  I first suggested that Kelce was bound for the HOF after his second All-Pro selection in 2018.  Folks didn't agree.  Oh well.

I think there was a question of longevity after the 2018 season.  There are only 48 o-linemen in the NFL HOF.  The HOF centers are:

1. Chuck Bednarik 49-62 - 14 seasons

2. Dermontti Dawson 88-00 - 13 seasons

3. Frank Gatski - 46 -57 - 12 seasons

4. Jim Langer 70 -81  12 seasons

5. Kevin Mawae 94-09 16 seasons

6. Jim Otto 60-74 15 seasons

7. Jim Ringo - 53-67 15 seasons

8. Dwight Stephenson - 80-87 8 seasons

9. Mike Wesbster 74-90 - 17 seasons

As of 2018, he only had completed 8 seasons.  I think it wasn't a sure thing at that point.  He is probably a sure thing as of now but I don't know that he will be a first ballot HOF player.  I think he should be but he's not a sure thing first ballot HOF player.  Getting an AP and a PB this season would help.

He has done well on special teams. Let's not throw him in the Jordan Poyer bucket just yet.

1. Julio

2. No, we have at least 2 games where Boston Scott will be the primary TD scorer.

3. No. A great pass rush can offset an average secondary.

4. No.

5. No. I think 14-3 or 15-2 are still doable.

we haven't beaten Andy since he left, and now we go into arrowhead after their bye. This is not gonna be pretty

Prediction: offense doesn't learn to protect the ball during the bye week-3 turnovers

And he just turned 21. He's a project with great talent but limited skill.

Agreed. Everyone on earth knew Ringo would be a 1-2 year project.

Yes, by necessity

Not yet, but getting close.

No

No.  I think 13-4 probably doesn’t get HFA.  Damn impressive record given the schedule, but they’ve earned the trust to do better.

FYI.  Here is my original argument.

Midway point polling:

1. Who gets more catches the rest of the way out of the following players: Olamide, Julio, Quez?
Julio

2. Does Rashaad Penny get a bigger role in the second half of the season?
No

3. If you could go back in time and swap Nolan Smith for Joey Porter Jr, would you?
No. JPJ would not be starting in the slot. Nolan Smith was always going to need a year of development as a pass-rusher since he has poor hand usage.

4. Does Swift have more rushing yards in the second half of the season than he did in the first half?
No. More Kenny G

5. If you could take a 13-4 record right now, would you take it or no?
100%. 13-4 likely means HFA. Just need 1 Dallas loss + 2 Lions losses.
