I like this post a lot. I definitely see a shift away from 5-wide to 12 and 21 personnel. That’s going to accelerate with Harbaugh back in the league. His base offense is12 personnel. He did it at San Diego State, Stanford, the 49ers, and Michigan, all with great success. In a copycat league when it works for him it will spread. We couldn’t match with the 49ers last year or with hell, pretty much anybody down the stretch.

Just looking at our picks so far, they’re all Fangio picks. He’s driving the bus, hopefully not over a cliff. Versatile guys. He does a lot of mixing and disguising. That only works when you have guys who can do it. Dropping Reddick into coverage was a joke. He is a one-trick pony, albeit a very good trick. It appears that Hunt is versatile. Certainly DeJean is. I can see Sydney Brown in the big nickel as a box safety. More speed in the short zones and middle and better run support.

I’m more interested in scheme than names, I admit.

One advantage of Fangio's emphasis on versatile guys is you can quickly reshape the roster to a new defensive scheme if needed.

DeJean may not be ideal outside, but he could play all three slots inside, if Hunt works out he could be a DE or even a 4-3 SLB (see Emmons).

Reddick was truly a one trick pony, 4-3 Elephant type, not big enough for conventional 4-3 DE, not nifty enough for 3-4 OLB.

Huff has the size for 4-3 DE if needed. Jalen Carter could play every spot in a 3-4 or 4-3 set. Ojomo may grow into that kind of DL.

We’re about to hear "Has Sirianni already lost control of the locker room? 215-592-9494”

Probably right.  Howie got too cute and lost his man.  Won't make the same mistake today hopefully.

I don't think he got too cute, rather, he didn't value any of these guys high enough to spend resources to move up and nail them, rather, he preferred to move down than take someone he really didn't value that highly at those spots. Ended up with a player they valued (talked to him at SB and one of the 30 invites) and two 4th rd picks.

When Howie values someone (i.e. a player ranked higher than the tier expected to be available at their pick) he moves to snatch them.

Gotta admit, Washington is having one helluva draft. A lot is riding on Daniels and if he can be a top NFL QB.

But man, look at these picks. That's an incredible haul in the 1st 3 rounds.

When you pick at the top of the draft every year it’s hard to get some picks wrong.

I don't see the Eagles trading up much in rd 4.  If there was a guy they loved more than pick 94 they'd have taken him already.

I think my top target is Christian Mahogany. I think he's a Driscoll level backup, but that' more than reasonable in RD4.

Yep. Love he asked for the playbook

The’ll flip a couple today for future picks. No way they use all those. But, I’m with you on the Mitchell, DeJean thing.

I actually think they use them. We need the depth on the cheap

DId ya hear what Hunt called Howie?

Big Pimpin' 😂

Make this kid follow BG around all year. Physical Ability but has almost no idea what he is doing. Very very raw

Yep something tells he won't get away with that with Vic Fangio

Rice, Gray or Magee at LB, Mahogany, and Wright

Wish List RD4

The day 3 draft lady actually looks happy this year 🥰

It's a "red shirt" year. Eagles do this with rookies on a regular basis, Howie has said he learned from Big Red to think a year or two ahead.

Disagree. Board is reset. There's a talent gap coming up after the 4th round. Go get the players you want. You have the ammo.

Day 2 picks still too high to keep reaching for projects over guys that know how to play. Howie not learning.

Your boner for the weasel lawyer never fails

Can we have the German guy announce all the picks?

Welp there goes a good TE

Did not want Ja'Tavion Sanders, but I get it for the Panthers.

Denver traded up with Seattle.

Wish list:

Troy Franklin

Theo Johnson

T.J. Tampa

Jaylen Wright

Sedrick Van Pran-Granger

 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

Sanders is kinda like Brevin Jordan. Destined to be a backup IMO.
