I think Fields has flashed and he’s not been helped by what is around him. I don’t think he’s a great NFL QB but I think he deserves another shot to be the starter somewhere. I still think there’s talent there for him to be a good NFL QB. But as a back up here? That would have been risky.

In the '22 season Fields ran for 1143 yards and it wasn't because he wanted to LOL. So that was a great team?

The worst deal so far is getting tiny hands Pickett here. Really awful. There are 5th round draft picks with more potential

Put Hurts in Chicago with a trash O line and he will run because he has to. Hurts runs here because he is an indecisive ,lack of vision QB at the moment who has a terrific team around him that offers him time to look good and we've all been cheering for him to STEP UP his play and he hasn't done that yet. No QB will do well with 1 sec before the defense is in your face so it's not me saying Fields is great,nobody knows yet. Give him a decent Oline with weapons is the only way to find that out. There are no excuses for Hurts,he has one of the best teams around him in the NFL. Dropped the rock in the SB,took a peewee jv sack in the EZ vs the Bucs. If Hurts can't perform on the big stage in crunch time with this team he has,he is no better than Fields who is still a mystery as to how good he is

You cry because of one year of bad coaching and give Hurts numerous excuses for Fields has had that his entire career with the bears he never had the same OC. 

You complain about our OL which is regarded as one of the best in the league. Fields had one of the worst.

You talk about our 3rd WR that would be at best the 4 option in our passing attack…. Fields had DJ Moore that’s it’s.

By all means Hurts might be better but let’s not sit here and act like we are comparing apples to apples…. The situations are completely different  one has a top tier O with studs all around the other has nobodies.

Fields in 13 games had what 2600 pass yards 16 tds 9ints 650 rushing yards 5 ypc 4tds

Jalen Hurts in 17 games 3900 passing yards 23 tds 15 ints 600 rushing yards 4ypc 15 tds

Ummmmmm  those are some eerily similar stats for a guy that played in 4 fewer games on a far lesser team with equally terrible coaching. Mind you I think the Bears won 4 of the last 6 while we went 1-5 down the stretch.

I’m just saying if they were to swap teams how different would these two guys look?

He would have been a very good backup option for us…as I see it. Fields is completely loaded with talent. No questioning that. Real strong arm. Fast. Elusive. But this is where many just don’t understand how those are just tools for the job. A cannon for an arm does not make a Franchise QB. Not even that important for a Franchise QB to have. Rich Gannon comes to mind for me. Or Drew Brees. So many incredible QBs that had much less than the cannon. Really recall most of the football I’ve witnessed was the cannon armed QBs tended to try and force throws way too much. Brett Favre as an example. He could laser in an unbelievable pass into triple coverage and complete it. But he threw tons of interceptions to go along with all those completions.

But here the thing with a Fields and other QBs of his status: sure he could start for some team that doesn’t have a franchise guy. But that solves absolutely nothing. You need a Franchise guy…or he just isn’t the right QB. Fields is a super talented backup QB. 

Many see Fields making this spectacular play to salvage a broken play. That’s where he shines. But what you need the most is to just do the routine QB plays. Be a QB that an OC can run his O through. If I was an OC he’s not the guy I’d be looking for. Can better utilize a guy with half the talent….that just could run my O.

You listed off proven veteran QBs that have established multiple years among the tops league wide. Why bring up ARod? Guy got hurt. Worst field in football. Wilson I kind of saw coming. I as mentioning it when some here were coveting him to be an Eagles. He never was going to choose Philly then anyhow. Watson is a whole other story. Guy was clearly a top five QB. It’s still gotta be there with him. Just needs a coach and situation to get him out of his mental blockage. Part of the issue is say with Watson though is the intangibles. Just don’t think players look to follow him. Things worked for him as this superstar Uber talented winner. His personality and work ethic aren’t ideal though. Really believe this scandal exposing his masseuse sex addiction habits really took more toll than anybody realized. Especially considering the area of his teammates perception of him. A super rich famous NFL QB in the prime of his life….turning all the time to try to get masseuse to really be his prostitute. Really pathetic. Getting laid really shouldn’t be any issues for such a guy. 

Maybe you guys can understand Watson more than I can. I’ve never paid for sex. But going to a masseuse and paying for a hand rub?What the heck is that about? I have zero idea why guys even do that. Watson doing it habitually even.
