Our situation doesn’t even revolve around any of that. Ours has been just needing that scheme to be provided in the first place. Then can talk about mastering whatever…after it arrives for the first time.

I agree for us... the family friend of the QB was a bad choice for OC and why 2023 was the outlier. Agree 💯... as do the guys on the podcast.

Scheme matters little if you don't have the talented players to execute it. I'm glad Howie is keeping the pipelines going for players who will contribute in the future. We found the scheme that works, no need to change it. Some tweaks maybe but I see no need to change what works. Hurts seems more confident in his passing now, that split second hesitation. indecision is going/gone away, so I suspect we see a bit more passing that after we reeled him in. But now I believe he is ready to make more completions without the hesitation. He came a long way last year. Nice to see the things we were called "haters" for being corrected. We're going to be tough for years now

If you listen to the podcast I posted last night with Zangaro and Roob... Roob talks about how when he first covered the team, some of the borderline guys had regular jobs in the offseason. " guys used camp to get in shape... now football is a full time job" He brought this up as the discussion started about the coaches being there for a while working on the 2025 season.

" it's a year round job now, not much downtime "

The reason I bring this up. People from my era, born in early 70s... we remember football where it's complicated and big playbooks etc.

But go watch a high school game now, see how these kids are all learning complicated stuff from 10th grade, then they go college... then you have pro schemes that are more geared towards college schemes and styles now.

The league is way more tailored for rookies and new coaches taking over teams. Playbooks that are ready to grasp ASAP...along with more offseason time spent on the playbook itself, and less old school practices.

Players now...come in much better shape ... better prepared mentally. The evolution of the game.

So this idea that it takes years to master a complicated NFL scheme doesn't really exist in the new microwave society of the NFL. It's not 1985 or 1995 anymore.

Why so many rookies just perform out of the gate. JJ was awesome, Smitty was excellent. Q is just unreal. DeJean is as good as they get in the slot. QB's coming out are already prepped to the NFL game. Even smaller schools are turning out pros. Schools like Toledo, Cincy, Bowling Green producing high quality players

The point of year round compared to eras ago is very valid. Football understandings. But especially in the training and diet…the whole sports science field surrounding football has jumped by leaps and bounds why I said it just wasn’t fair to try and compare Jim Brown to Saquan.

Jim Brown at a definite disadvantage. Due to the rules now guys like Butkus or mean Joe would be ejected very game

The nonexistent O scheme being a bad choice

With OC Johnson having such very tiny amounts of power and control. You declaring the OC being bad…that was strictly under power and control of doing Siri bidding is actually just your own evaluation of Siri O. You just don’t realize it. Or turning a blind eye towards it seems fitting.

Wasn’t the outlier unfortunately…been consistently what’s been needed to be overcome.

Bill Parcells is very knowledgable about the D

As an Assistant Coach definitely, but as pointed out in the podcast, when he was promoted to Head Coach he left those details of scheme behind and began executing the CEO tasks. That is typical of almost all promotions in business … you move onward and upward.

Until Alzheimer’s sets in, human beings rarely lose knowledge, but their life tasks often put specific components of knowledge on the back burner.

Since Ham hated Gains, I'm curious as to comparing him with Shipley who should take over that role. Maybe Ham will hate him too

We are getting upgraded having moved Siri’s boy out of the way. Let’s just see the difference Shipley is and compare. Should Gainwell have been second string over this kid? First few games…about it.

That’s not so true surrounding football. DC or OC minds get their own team to be HC of and they run their side of the ball for their own team….being HC.

Same question last year for Pickett and McKee.

You think Ben Johnson isn’t going to be running the O in Chicago? Did Shannahan just stop running the O when he took over in Santa Clara? On and on and on…Fangio in Denver as HC…ran the D.

Of the 32teams, which ones fit that pattern. Kansas City definitely. Which others?

There are CEO HCs. John Harbaugh with the Ravens…Campbell in Detroit. That’s different than the O or D mind stepping back away from those aspects completely though.

Those two plus Andy. You are up to 3 out of 32. Less than 10%. Fangio isn’t in Denver.

Did Saleh get the HC job with the Jets and not control the D because he became a HC? Heck no.

Miami…is their HC still running their O

Sean Peyton in Denver…is he still running their O?

When Fangio was HC in Denver he ran the D. Examples after examples after examples…can go all day here.

Pedey ran the O as HC here and Jax

Did Reich just relinquish control of the O when he was hired as a HC?

Feels like I haven’t even gotten started yet.

Not accurrate..sorry

The majority have been hiring the O mind to be HC..to run his O. Hard to get a top O mind without giving him the top chair.

Which one fits your opinion…the coach who was the O or D mind that relinquished doing so to become CEO HC?
