May 22, 20251 yr Great podcast with two of the local guys whose sole job is to cover the Eagles.Good insight here on where the team's mindset is. Getting a few minutes in, you can see where the QB is a big fan of the new OC. Been a right hand man of the coach since the beginning, offers some stability for Hurts. But what do these guys know being around the team all the time? I trust Ham more 🙄
May 22, 20251 yr Really solid press conference by Jalen. Complementary to both Sirianni and Patullo. Clearly comfortable with both of them, as well as Loefler.

Otherwise they’d have mostly been running the ball down so many points from a team not known as a rushing team. Great takeHad everything to do with establishing the Defensive dominance that the Eagles D consistently imposed on all the opponents after the Bye. The one exception came from the scrambles that Jayden Daniels was able to make out of broken pass plays. Fangio set out to make the opponent one dimensional, and the Eagles consistently did that.
May 22, 20251 yr Yeah..sure…Hurts going along with what he can’t control…means he’s really thrilled with the O situation completely. I’m sure he just would hate to be in a top O. That would just be terrible for him.

May 22, 20251 yr From a PodCast thoughts about the Eagles’ pre-Bye games last season"When you look back at the Eagles Super Bowl-winning season last year, what do you think was, like, what was the turning point for that season that really set them apart and propelled them on to that Super Bowl victory?A lot of people point to the bye week. And I think there's kind of a misconception that the Eagles went and magically solved a lot of problems during the bye week after they got off to the two-and-two start. You had a couple of games where AJ. Brown was out. That’s always going to cause a problem for this offense because AJ is such a crucial part.Zach Baun, as well as he played in the season opener, if you rewatch the Falcons game, he struggled, especially with their cut blocking. He had never seen cut blocks like that, and he was bad in that game, just flat out bad. Then all of a sudden you come out of the bye week, — you've got AJ. Brown back, — you've got Zach Baun really starting to figure things out,— Cooper Dejean enters the line up and takes over the slot. — And the other thing, Mecai Becton at that point had a handful of games under his belt, so the offense started to click. So I think whether there had been a bye week or not, I think just that collection of time and experience, getting people healthy and getting people on the same page, that's when they started to ascend. Then later in the year, let's be honest about Jalen Hurts. He wasn't at his best in the middle of the season, right? But he started to click later in the season. I don't know if it was something between him and Kellen Moore, him and the players, or just him adjusting to be in such a run-heavy offense. But as Jalen started to pick his game up, that's when all of a sudden the Eagles win the NFC championship by 32 points and have a 34-point lead in the Super Bowl. The team prior to week five isn't blowing those teams out, right? But they continued to get better and just were a juggernaut by the end of the season.”From Eagles Pin-Pull: A Philadelphia Eagles Podcast Network: OTSP #82: 10 Questions with Tommy Lawlor, May 20, 2025https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/eagles-pin-pull-a-philadelphia-eagles-podcast-network/id1741387634?i=1000709180221&r=454

May 22, 20251 yr More interesting stuff from that podcast."The thing is, there are people that don't like the way the Eagles win. (Ham, do you qualify as one of those people?) Often you get very schematic nerdy guys, like football nerds who want to see the best scheme and not necessarily the best players. But the nerdy scheme guys want to see unbelievable plays that someone's designed (like what Mark McDaniel's done) but that doesn't actually win in the playoffs. And I find that Sirianni just still gets discredited because he isn’t a scheme nerd. But I feel about Sirianni very similarly to the way I feel about Hurts. He fits the team. He fits the organization. It's a very smart organization, Philly. Possibly the best, if not one of the best. Yeah, totally agree. It is funny because people, one of the coaches that gets a lot of worship in the football world is Bill Parcells. And Bill, when he won Super Bowls, he was a CEO head coach. He had Bill Belichick running his defenses, and he had different guys running his offenses. And so he was just there to set the culture, set the tone, run the ship. And he did a great job of that, and the Giants won two Super Bowls with him as the head coach. So you don't have to have a guy as a coach who's a play caller. You don't have to have a guy as a coach who's an ex-of-those genius. You need somebody who's right for that team. And with serious messaging, that resonates with the players”From Eagles Pin-Pull: A Philadelphia Eagles Podcast Network: OTSP #82: 10 Questions with Tommy Lawlor, May 20, 2025https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/eagles-pin-pull-a-philadelphia-eagles-podcast-network/id1741387634?i=1000709180221&r=1296This material may be protected by copyright.
May 22, 20251 yr Author Here's a kid to keep your eye on in the upcoming collegiate season. https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Max-Klare-TE-Purdue He was a jack of all trades at Purdue before settling in as a TE. Then he transferred to OSU, so he will be playing on the big stage. I want to see how he develops at Ohio state. He has alot to learn, but could have a nice upside ceiling in Columbus

AJ got injured that first game obviously was big. There were Oline injuries. Smitty. DeJean entering the starting lineup obviously was a huge upgrade from before. My main point was revolving around Moore and Siri dynamics with creating this new O. Think it was a season long thing just from creating the scheme and ironing things out as much as it was even about only after you get that right can the players have it executing from experience.

Roob talks about how when he first covered the team, some of the borderline guys had regular jobs in the offseason. " guys used camp to get in shape... now football is a full time job" He brought this up as the discussion started about the coaches being there for a while working on the 2025 season." it's a year round job now, not much downtime "The reason I bring this up. People from my era, born in early 70s... we remember football where it's complicated and big playbooks etc.But go watch a high school game now, see how these kids are all learning complicated stuff from 10th grade, then they go college... then you have pro schemes that are more geared towards college schemes and styles now.The league is way more tailored for rookies and new coaches taking over teams. Playbooks that are ready to grasp ASAP...along with more offseason time spent on the playbook itself, and less old school practices. Players now...come in much better shape ... better prepared mentally. The evolution of the game. So this idea that it takes years to master a complicated NFL scheme doesn't really exist in the new microwave society of the NFL. It's not 1985 or 1995 anymore.

May 22, 20251 yr 7 on 7 during the spring.... is a huge thing for these high school players now. By the time they get drafted...they have gone through 6, 7, 8 or 9 times. That's all routes and coverages. What is supposed to be the complicated part of the game.Instead of playing baseball or running track, or swimming in the pool.. these kids are playing 7 on 7 and working on scheme...in the spring/ summer.Additional work...mental work... then they actually go through a full camp and season. It's much different than when we were their age.

May 22, 20251 yr The point of year round compared to eras ago is very valid. Football understandings. But especially in the training and diet…the whole sports science field surrounding football has jumped by leaps and bounds why I said it just wasn’t fair to try and compare Jim Brown to Saquan.
May 22, 20251 yr Our situation doesn’t even revolve around any of that. Ours has been just needing that scheme to be provided in the first place. Then can talk about mastering whatever…after it arrives for the first time.
