Parris gives the field stretching speed out of the slot. That opens things up for plenty of others. Then you have his YAC ability. He should be in the drivers seat as that third WR option.

I would stop with your fixation on speed only. It's why your boy Reagor was a failure. That was his only attribute. If Paris was so hot with his speed, why was't he used much?

Williams, a former third-round pick, has been one of the best rotational interior defenders in the entire NFL over the past two seasons. While his 968 snaps over that period rank just 64th at the position, his 73.2 PFF overall grade places 32nd. Williams was playing the best football of his career before an injury in 2023, with his 77.6 overall grade between Weeks 5 and 11 ranking 14th among interior defenders.

Milton named our most underrated player

He will probably get some nice money as a free agent after the season with his new team.

And there you go agreeing with Roob.  You didn't even mention that Campbell only had one year over 170 receiving yards.  Then you have Parker who was the last ranked WR in getting separation.       But hey... we don't want to bad mouth these two studs!

Yeah I just think given how little Covey has offered on offense so far his roster spot may be in danger. Yeah DeJean can apparently return kicks. I think Aninas Smith can too? There are definitely some options there as good as Covey has been.

Yeah actually I would prefer Smith in that role over DeJean. Not because DeJean is worse, but he was already injured and now that we got him I would rather "risk" Smith because we have more depth at slot than we do at DB. I believe DeJean could see rotational playing time right away. Smith may not,but we'll see how that works out in camp and pre.

I'm simply stating speed isnt the only factor. Has nothing to do with you bringing up this dead horse topic once AGAIN. But since we're going there AGAIN one or more of those 3 will play the slot spot. if you want to boot Ngata for yet another vet we need to pay then do that

Speed is an element to the game that can’t be denied. Having a guy that vertically stretches the D changes things.

Worked great for Reagor 🙄

Heard Siri even talking up needing Quez out there to field stretch. That’s a WR that wasn’t even a real threat. So not hard to imagine how a player that could catch could effect our opponents.

You look at ONE straight line 40 time. Firstly no routes are straight lines, secondly can you run a 4.2 for x amount of snaps in a row? Can your 4.2 guy get by a press DB? A slot guy needs to have directional change(aka quickness) that is not the same as straight line speed. it's the same mistake Howie made taking Reagor(who was an outside WR anyhow)

I'm not saying he can be pedestrian LOL but the above factors also weigh in so flat out straight line speed is only one of many factors

Only the X has to play on the line of scrimmage. Out of the Slot there is room to maneuver around any Press attempts.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/eagles-rookie-wr-ainias-smith-provides-injury-update/ar-BB1m2iZr No rush we will bring him along. Some of his draft drop was because of this stress fracture that prevented him from the combine and he was also probably a bit shy of going full tilt at his Pro day. He will play when the staff feels comfortable doing so

It's still not a straight line route as coverage would move to disrupt him

BTW I don't know the extent of ASmiths fracture. It could be minimal or severe. Seems it was fairly minimal,so we'll see what happens in camp. He wasn't happy with his 40 time at pro day,but I have no idea what he could do. If he was unhappy with between 4.4 and 4.5 it makes me believe  can run a sub 4.4. All unknowns at this time. He is also a different type than Paris or Parker. I would agree Paris gets the nod to begin the season

I agree with you and Roob. I don't have either Campbell or Parker as any lock to start.  So I can see a possibility they get another vet later.  You don't have to sell me on the shortcomings of Campbell or Parker... it's  not badmouthing them by stating the obvious about why they were available for cheap.

Why wouldn't we just boot Campbell or Parker?  That is the obvious move if neither is good enough to lock down a starting #3 spot.  Ngata and the two draft picks are guys you want long term, they aren't going anywhere.

So once again as a writer at this point in the season just say "there will be competition for the slot slot". There was no reason to say "that guy may not be on the roster" He could also have said at least we have that guy on the roster LOL. I just didn't like the wording he used. It wasn't needed. If Howie brings in more maybe those guys won't be on the roster either. Just did nothing to instill confidence for the rookie,so he shouldn't have said it. But once AGAIN that is MY OPINION and NOTHING you say will change MY OPINIION

That's a great element to have on the outside.  You don't stretch the D from the slot....you work the middle and need more quickness than overall speed...the ability to get open in a phone booth.

It's why the media all seem high on the potential A Smith can bring down the road.

So boot them. That is a decision by the staff, not a writer

Yeah agree, the slot guy should have "twitch"

" that guy may not be on the roster " ... was saying that if either vet doesn't do well enough,  they may go outside to bring in another one.

Why so you care so much about Parker and Campbell.   You couldn't see a possibility that they may decide to get a guy like Renfrow for example to come in if those two suck?

I don't care about them,I just felt the rookie didn't need to hear the negative press right off the bat. ASmith fully intends to be on the roster

Again...  when speaking specifically about a position... why wouldn't there be a possibility that a guy like Howie... who year after year gets players right as the season starts... wouldn't make a move?

I don't get your fascination with limiting the possibilities and being so locked in on two WRs we got off the scrap heap?
