September 12, 20242 yr Now in hindsight Hurts should have just checked it down and dumped it to the RB instead of that interception. He’s never been Captain Checkdown. This O is very setup to gain massive production from the RBs receiving this season.

First two throws when Hurts is trying to throw Dickerson’s  guy prevents him from finishing the throw. To me that’s a factor and matters, Again... if everyone else blocks and gets open...then it wouldn't take a $50 mil per year QB to make the plays. Part ...a HUGE part of playing QB is to minimize the bad plays. How many times was Jordan Love moved under pressure or had a teammate miss a block? Did he turn the ball over on those plays? The QB has that as part of his job...to assess the situation and make the proper decision.  Which sometimes is to not throw the ball in a certain spot. Hurts failed ... we are pointing out Hurts mistakes....because those are ones that can ruin all the good stuff done previously on any drive.Â

Of course I’ll be the only one to actually point out anybody else other than Hurts not going their job. Difference is the decision is poor we aren’t talking the throw it’s the decisions that he is making or better yet shouldn’t be making especially in the situations he is making them don’t need to risk those throwsÂ
September 12, 20242 yr Then he needs to be at least " private check down" or " private throw the ball away" These are things the rest of us think in year 5 that he needs to improve upon. Playing QB. Â
September 12, 20242 yr I understand the Hurts Haters have their agenda to fulfill. I just am looking at the whole team. Highest paid G in football got beat so many times in this game. Look at the stats and see how often his guy Slaton was even involved in the plays. Those first two throws….Dickerson doesn’t even put up a good resistance. Just bull rushed straight back into the QB. His guy effects both throws.

How much is Dickerson making? Highest paid G. He needs to do his job also.
September 12, 20242 yr So when the QB is throwing and a defender is effecting his throw by not letting him drive throughand finish the throw…,that’s always the QBs fault?

Hurts still didn't make these mental mistakes. These mistakes started happening last year.  One thing i respected about Hurts ( regardless of not seeing a great passer or a guy who could read a secondary well) ...was from jump...he avoided the really dumb decisions to put the ball in harms way.  Remember it's why the previous guy was crucified here.  Why all of a sudden year 4... this pattern of making a few really really....REALLY bad decisions has started?  It's a concern.Â

Love had some big drops right?? Or did we watch the same game? WRs slipping all over the field for them...but you bring up an AJ slip...works both ways. Mentally... Hurts made some dumb mistakes he never made as a new QB...concerning he makes them in year 5.

First throw was tight coverage…the pressure kept Hurts from pinpointing it…yet still hit AJ in the hands…just a bit high. Second throw was there too really. DeVonta with a LB running with him. Hit him before he gets to that deep split S. Going to complete that play plenty this season I’m sure. Problem was the pressure kept Hurts from finishing the throw. So it hung a bit. So the opposite field S could come all the way across and snag it. Obviously I’ve  mentioned MCkinney plenty…he’s a very good S.

Depends what play your talking if your talking the ball to Smith on the first series that play wasn’t their at all even without McKinney coming across was 3 guys around Smith was a bad throw. I know their was a handful of really bad decisions on hurts end throughout that GB game that just shouldn’t be happening in year 5Â

September 12, 20242 yr I thought Hurts had plenty of real strong moments setting protections…and even completing passes while being hit.
September 12, 20242 yr But again Hurts has 17 interceptions in his last 18 games he has 23 turnovers in his last 19 games. The decision making and ball security is a MASSIVE CONCERN. And again it isn’t hating it’s a reality this is happening no not every turnover over the course of rose 19 games were solely on Hurts but plenty were.  And if we mention the turnovers that weren’t on Hurts you have to also then go back and look at the turnovers prevented by players as well the int AJ brown broke up for example. And I keep bringing all this up because if we can get back to a point like 2022 where Hurts is playing mistake free ball this team going to be tough to beat. Take away the 3 turnovers v GB that game likely isn’t closeÂ

So the throw was being made in front of him. I’m not all against that throw being made. Think we’ll see it completed several times this season. The problem was just Hurts wasn’t able to finish the throw because of the super quick pressure up the middle. So the ball hung. DeVonta shields off the LB and the gets the catch before the deep S….is the read…which I’m fine with.

Hurts looked off the sideline and the S moved towards the middle...was an easy read and move towards the ball as we see from the angle behind the QB.

But if he can’t he’ll keep it from being intercepted. That’s part of a WRs job to me. That trust.

September 12, 20242 yr Without the pressure? First two throws are completed. Tight windows…but completed pretty likely.
