No.  IMO there is no worse combo of colors than "midnight green" and black.

Maybe it's just me, but I think it's awesome.

Don't be down on Gerry.  Sure, the intro is like 15 seconds, but his highlight film is over 1 min long!

That’s a pretty tempting offer for guys who are 50ish and likely have other jobs. Hopefully this doesn’t get replacement refs level bad

Agreed.  And all I can remember is a few seasons ago when the NFL refs were on strike, and it was ridiculous how bad the officiating was in every game (That Golden Tate catch immediately comes to mind).  Please let these old bastids stay put.

Any of you guys in NC feel the earthquake?

I don't know how, but I didn't feel a thing.  I played golf with friends that all live within 10 miles of me, and they all felt it.  I'm pretty sure I was in the shower at the time, because my dogs went insane for no reason.

WTF. Oh well, I had him as the #6 LB at best.

Projected to "start" is BS.  I value a dime package more than a 3rd LB "starting."  The nickel corner is 20x more valuable in this defensive scheme than Jatavis Brown.

Gotta respect that dude.  He has been hanging around for a long time, and he always seems to provide value (even if just a little) wherever he goes.

But how does a linebacker look so bad here go to another team, a team that VALUES LB in the Ravens, and plays great football earning an extension?

Not putting value and investing in the position is one thing.  Not knowing how to use talent is another.  Nothing changed in Fort's ability in a 1-2 month span.  He just went to a team that knows linebackers and how to get the best out of them.  Baltimore, Pittsburgh and SF are teams that just know how to draft and develop linebackers.

The Eagles are doing something wrong at the position.

They value it so little that in angers fans.  They definitely have the least allocated $$ to the LB position in the league, and if not, at least bottom five.

While they make mistakes evaluating talent, I totally agree with the philosophy.  They have all their money allocated in the front 4, and they expect them to get home (which they're decent at) AND be the best against the run (which they are).  But in today's NFL, QB's are too damn smart, and rules that favor the offense make it too easy for QB's to sling it around the field, which creates the need for cover guys.  This will be an unpopular opinion, but I think Trotter would be borderline useless in today's NFL.  Positionless DB's are the future.  They value the dime DB more than a 3rd LB.

Need a yellow face mask/shield to complete the ensemble.

Yes, indeed.

A couple random Eagles thoughts....

- From 2011 to 2013, the Eagles drafted 4 players -- Jason Kelce, Fletcher Cox, Lane Johnson, and Zach Ertz -- who are currently top 3 at their positions. I know there have been a lot of Eagles draft misses, but those were some spectacular hits.

- Other than 2016, this might be the most intrigued I've been entering a season since 2009 when the Eagles traded for Jason Peters, drafted Jeremy Maclin and LeSean McCoy, signed Michael Vick (and Stacy Andrews!), and let Brian Dawkins walk in free agency. DeSean Jackson and Asante Samuel were in their 2nd year with the team. With all that and McNabb on his way out, the Eagles seemed to be changing the page and ushering in a new era.

This season feels like that one in several ways. There are again major changes at LT and WR with the success of future Eagles teams riding heavily on how well Andre Dillard and Jalen Reagor play. Miles Sanders is looking to make a similar (or better) improvement from year 1 to year 2 that DeSean Jackson was poised to make in 2009. The trade for Darius Slay gives the Eagles the best CB they've had since Asante. Jalen Hurts is a WTF force at QB like Michael Vick was then (minus the crimes). And with the release of Malcolm Jenkins, the Eagles are looking for a new leader on defense.

I actually had this exact conversation on Facebook the other day with an eagle fan. I said the same thing. I wouldn’t say useless just not nearly the impact player he was in the early 2000s with how the game is played today. I would say hybrid lb/S is the growing trend around the league.

Of course he’s a moron. Like these athletes opting out actually believe they are bigger than the game or the game will stop without them. Are they suggesting that? No. Not at all. They’re saying their health (and their family’s health) is bigger than the game. And the college athletes are putting their health, potential careers, etc ahead of college football, which they should.

Well since he's closer to a lot of athletes that either one of us are, I'm not sure that maybe some don't feel that way. That said he makes a vary valid point about those of us that don't have an opt out choice.

That said I don't blame those that have the choice for taking it, and also I don't feel that football is something that people should risk their well being for.

Sure but he wants to stay here. Even if that were true why announce it?

From Spads regarding Brown...

"...the love of the game just isn't there any longer. He simply is walking away from the game. No hidden agendas. No unusual back story. He's just done with football. That's the word.”

The "love for my job" left like 20 years ago.

He's only 26 and has probably been all.football all the time since he was what, 16 years old?  Did you begin your career at 16?

He now gets to reset and start another career and have his chance to have to remain in a job after the passion is gone because he needs the job to pay the bills.

Like the idea.  It just matches the real eagle!

I understand their philosophy and I understand it's a changing game.  They make too many mistakes at evaluating linebackers.

Trotter would look like Levon Kirkland in his lone season as an Eagle in todays game.  Sad to think it.

I’d say it bodes well for Grayland Arnold that Howie Roseman brought him up unprompted several times in the offseason, Rodney McLeod mentioned him the other day and he was issued number 33 instead of some awful number UDFAs usually get.

Also, this from Howie’s boy Daniel Jeremiah...

"When I’m talking to GMs in the evenings, like the question I always get is who are you higher on than anybody else you talk to, and the guy is Grayland Arnold for me,” Jeremiah said. "I like Grayland Arnold a lot. I know he’s undersized. He’s a little over 5’9″, a little over 186 pounds, but he’s got production. He’s just really instinctive. He’s fluid and smooth. He buzzes under these routes in every game I watch. He had a 71-yard return against Oklahoma on a pick. He’s just a playmaker. So he’s my 103rd player, but I think I’m higher on him than the majority of the league.”

On the other hand, William Thomas would be an absolute stud. Perfect for today’s NFL.

William Thomas, Shawn Barber and Ray Farmer would all adapt really well.  I was a huge Farmer fan when he played at Duke.  Excited the Eagles drafted him, he played well as a rookie then not so sure what happened.

With the main difference imo is we are now turning the page on the best squad in our history. Had to happen but also worthy of a heartfelt goodbye.

It really feels like he's making the team. There's no point to talking him up like this, just to put him on the practice squad.
