What would he make from retiring vs opting out in the year I wonder?

Ha makes nothing retiring. Opting out would just give him a cash advance

Losing Jatavis Brown doesn't move the needle. He was not a lock to make the team. We'll save 100-200K in cap room from his retirement.

Yup. He was a lowly regarded free agent the Eagles signed to a contract that was so low, it didn't even factor into the compensatory formula. While I'm sure he was someone the team had some hopes for, I suspect their expectations weren't all that high.

I also have zero problems with the decision to release Fort last year. The net effect of doing so was garnering a fourth round (edit/maybe it was later but whatever) pick in return. You're telling me you wouldn't have traded a backup linebacker who disappointed in camp for a fourth (or whatever) round pick? Huh?

I was mad we passed on him but I’m starting to understand why

Fringe 1st round talents don't fall to the 4th just cuz.

Which is why I was mad they passed on him.

Makes sense. Schools are way more liable for any potential lawsuit than the pro leagues.

He wanted to cement himself as the 2020 Corey Nelson Award winner.

Theres always Mychal Kendricks if his knee checks out, I guess

Whatever happened to his insider trading charges?

Nothing, really. He plead guilty two years ago and was supposed to be sentenced but it got pushed back 4 or 5 times. I think currently it’s set for October.

But how does a linebacker look so bad here go to another team, a team that VALUES LB in the Ravens, and plays great football earning an extension?

Not putting value and investing in the position is one thing.  Not knowing how to use talent is another.  Nothing changed in Fort's ability in a 1-2 month span.  He just went to a team that knows linebackers and how to get the best out of them.  Baltimore, Pittsburgh and SF are teams that just know how to draft and develop linebackers.

The Eagles are doing something wrong at the position.

Black uniforms, white helmet, and yellow socks would be most representative of Haliaeetus leucocephalus.

Beautiful birds.

We see a lot of them around here.

Probably nothing changed ability wise, but he is in a 3-4 system now which suits his skill set better.

No clue what point, if any, Deion is trying to make

Smartest thing I've ever heard him say in my opinion.

yeah sadly every one of our scrub DEs is on Barnett's level. Graham and Curry are better.

If we had better pass rush from our DEs I think we might be competing for a super bowl.

But even with a potentially improved secondary, and a great looking DT rotation the DE group holds back my excitement a ton for this D.

Stop it.

How, the F... do they tell people he had a clean MRI and is day to day. Then find out he actually chipped some bone off when the patella slid out? Fing terrible.

I just flipped out about this the other day in here somewhere.  Do other teams just blatantly lie to their fans about this?  Or is this because the Sixer's medical staff has zero idea WTF they're doing?

I hope this doesn't come as a surprise to anyone.

If you don't believe in him, then I have more faith than anyone that he will have a breakout season (despite his lack of athleticism, explosiveness, and now prone to injury).  Sorry @HazletonEagle.  Barnett will kick arse this year.

The inverse of this and the Fort debate are what drove me crazy about the earl thomas/BG/Nate Allen and all the other draft debates drive me insane. The idea that earl thomas would have been the player he was here or the idea that Nate Allen wouldn’t have been a better player in the legion of boom simply isn’t based on anything.

I dunno, I haven't seen a single person say or think they are bigger than the game. And I think all know by opting out they are putting their career in jeopardy. Stating the obvious isn't really a point.

Maybe I've had 1 too many.  I must have misread his tweets, because I completely agree with what you're saying.  🤪

No.  IMO there is no worse combo of colors than "midnight green" and black.
